Do you leave the closet door in your bedroom open or closed? I HAVE to close it! I get spooked out at night if the closet door is left open. I feel like the evil clown is going to come out at night and get me.

Growing up, my closet had to be SHUT but now it doesn't. I also couldn't have my foot hang over the bed without it being covered up. My closet is a walk in that is connected to our bathroom so you have to walk through my master bath to get to it - i wouldn't even know if it was open (except I do know - it's always open - I like to just be able to walk right in). I do however like my bedroom door shut. If someone is going to come murder me I want to be warned with the door opening rather than having someone slink in silently and stare at me. :::shivers:::

Open. I'm more freaked out if it is closed.

I feel like the evil clown is going to come out at night and get me. I understand this. I prefer mine closed, too--but I can usually close only half of it because my closet doors are terrible and one of them is always coming off the track. If I try to close it it scrapes the ceiling. My younger dd always has to have her closet doors closed at night. Always.

I don't have a closet door.. so that solves that problem. I have a dresser and ikea wardrobe at one end of my bedroom..

I'm right with you ladies! Closet and bedroom doors must be closed at bedtime. If left open, the potential for nightmares increases! (I also make it a pre-bedtime ritual to check if all doors leading outside are actually closed and locked. I've found a few times that they weren't--eek!)

I now have a walk in wardrobe, but growing up my closet door always had to be closed.

My bedroom closet is tiny and has no door.
If it had a door, I'd want it closed.

I can't sleep if doors or drawers are opened. They are gateways for the bad things to come and get me LOL!

Oooh, they all have to be closed!!! Creeps me out when they are dark and open. DD#3 has a massive walk-in closet. It is l-shaped, and she keeps it open. Drives me crazy to walk in there. When she goes to school, guess who goes in and closes it? I keep it closed until she comes home to open it again. LOL!

All cupboard and closet doors should be closed. Not one thing to do with superstitions or boogie men... just because it's a cleaner, neater look.

I have a walk in closet and the door is always open unless we have company and even then I forget to close it sometimes. It would never occur to me to find it scary. Wouldn't you worry more about what was behind a closed door than an open one?

Closed because are lights in our closets go on automatically when the doors are opened so I have to close them so the lights goes off.

Open 24/7 for 12 years so far! We've only closed it 3 or 4 times when we've had company over for the holidays. I've often thought about removing it, but then we'd need to deal with storing it, which DH would grumble about.

Really? You guys crack me up.
The doors have to be closed, because it looks messy if they are open.

Wouldn't you worry more about what was behind a closed door than an open one? For me, Lisa, it's the dark aspect. I have hated the dark since I was a little girl. The darkness from the closet looking out at me bothers me.

Our closet is actually off the master bath, not directly off the bathroom. The door to the bathroom has to be open as there's an excellent chance I'd just run into it if I get up in the middle of the night.

I don't have a closet in my bedroom.
The master bedroom is connected to the master bathroom and then at one end of the bathroom there is a door to the master closet and a door to the WC.
We use the master closet as an art room (it's big enough for two desks, chairs, and all my art and scrapbook and sewing supplies).
I converted an extra bedroom into my actual closet.
The kids leave their closet doors open because their closets are like little rooms. They have toy chests in there and go in their closets to play or read.

And becuase our bedroom is small and if our closet doors are left open we run the risk of my DH stumbling into them in the middle of the night. Besides who wants to see the clutter inside closets?

All of our closets are decorated the way a room would be. Painted, art hanging, things displayed on shelves. I consider them rooms and keep them clean, tidy, pretty, and ready for display if company should drop in.

our closet is off the en suite not the bedroom but the door is always closed - keeps the kitties out.
The kids' closets are kept closed for the same reason

Not because it's scary, but because order and neatness, the door has to be closed. Doors and drawers of any type being left open drive me a bit batty.

We have a sliding barn door on our closet and it's not in our room proper. It's in the hallway adjacent to our room. We leave it open unless we have company.

Closed. It looks neater, plus I don't want my cat in there.

our master closet is through the bathroom. We have the bathroom and hallway door open - mostly because of the kids. The kids both have their closet doors closed no questions. Previous to having kids the doors would all be closed

Closet doors MUST be closed! I do have a cat that insists on trying to get into my bedroom closet at about 4:30am ... good thing that is when I get up (Don't even mention clowns ... that is my main phobia )

Closed!
We have a skylight in our closet and I don't want the light in my room when I sleep so the door must be closed.
We also don't have a room for a home office so we built an office on one wall in our walk in closet - I don't want to hear the computer at all so I close the door.
Paige.
