I was gonna post the same thing and start a thread but then I thought "wait for it...someone will start one" because it's so good! I love the ending. I was surprised Kevin didn't immediately go but when he said "I'll do what my dad would do" I knew (and hoped) he'd be gone. And he didn't disappoint. And I loved that he literally ran all the way!

What Kevin did - it changed my entire feelings for him. And Miguel said the perfect thing to Kevin, too. This was one of my favorite episodes. I know everyone has all this love for Rebecca, but I don't feel it so much. I think she thinks of herself a lot. Maybe that's okay, but when you see the others in the show putting other people first, it just breaks your heart.

Really liked this episode and seeing Kevin embrace and help his brother. I can't stand Rebecca. Was jack sober before and now he's drinking?

Great episode! I have to say though, I don't like Toby & Kate. I'm back and forth on them. and the other thing I thought was anticlimactic was Kate at the door of the cabin at end of last show as cliffhanger...just to tell him off? Maybe there is more to it we'll see later?

This is an episode I can't wait to re-watch. I loved the end. Kevin literally running to his brother is what started the tears for me tonight.
I liked Miguel tonight. Still don't like Toby. I was so glad Kate went to the cabin to tell off the dick. And he's just a lawsuit waiting to happen for his parents, isn't he? How has that place not been sued out of business?
How many more episodes til the finale?

So, throwing this out there. Randall stopped a co-worker from committing suicide, he's had mental break downs, and Toby said he had bad depression in the past. Will something happen with one of the current characters? Something unexpected with another one who doesn't have that history?
I don't think this is how Jack died. I'm leaning towards a DUI accident. He did relapse at the end of the last episode. Maybe Rebeca kicks him out because he chose alcohol. He dies in a different way? Or possibly Kate trying to intervene, she drives, and somehow that's how Jack dies? That's why she won't talk about his death?
It's one thing to be devastated about a sudden death, but to not talk about the circumstances?

I love what Kevin did but I feel bad, too, because man, what timing. And of course, the timing is part of what made his actions so heartwarming, but I feel bad for him, too.

There are two more episodes. Next week is entitled Memphis and the last one What Now? Loved tonight's episode. The last one is on my birthday. I'm thinking we'll know how Jack died that night.

My entire opinion of Kevin was changed tonight.
I adore this show.
But it also could be depressing. Good couple, strong marriage, good people. They mostly get things right. And they manage to have 3 pretty screwed up kids.

I am typing as I watch:
I think Jack dies while Rebecca is on tour with her ex. I wonder if thats why she cant/wont talk about his death. Its too painful and she blames herself? I think its probably a DUI and he dies.
I hate Toby and Kate. Toby is just creepy and I dont know why I think that. I just don't like him (I mean, really? A waterpark wedding?)
Miguel is moving up in the ranks...I didnt like him before, but I think he is giving good 'fatherly' advice. And to admit that it hurts that Kevin doesnt like him? Wow.
And Kevin and Randall? OMG. Im bawling. What a good brother.
Best episode yet! And next week? Oh my gosh! I cannot wait. Its gonna be good, I just know it!

Really liked this episode and seeing Kevin embrace and help his brother. I can't stand Rebecca. Was jack sober before and now he's drinking? It was implied/mention that Jack had a bit of a drinking problem before marriage / kids but gave all that up, got a good job, etc for his family but at the end of this show---looks like he slipped into his old habits. I too, suspect he will have a DUI or something else will happen that is alcohol related and will be while Rebecca is touring - so Kate blames his death somewhat on her mom (which is why their relationship is strained) I felt bad for the playwright - when she looked and Kevin was gone but LOVED that he picked up that something was wrong and did what his dad would do. Especially liked when he was thinking back to Randall's breakdown about writing the Hamlet report and realizing his brother needed help. I was afraid William was going to die before Randall saw him again - looks like that isn't the case though (whew).

This was not one of my favorite episodes, honestly. It just seemed like filler and didn't really advance the plot of the show. There were hints about suicide, which doesn't sound like the Jack they have portrayed and hints of drunk driving. The whole thing where Kate has told Toby the basics of how he died and he wants to know more, then she "can't" tell him was ridiculous and annoying. (to be fair, Kate, Toby and Rebecca are my 3 least favorite characters in the show). By my calculations, it has been about 20 years since Jack died, so to not even be able to talk about it is pretty suspect. Also, at the time Rebecca is going out on tour, the twins are about 16, which would make Jack 52, yet they didn't age him at all in those scenes!
(Disclaimer, I had a really annoying day at work yesterday, so I could rewatch this episode this weekend and come out of it feeling differently.)

On IMDB they had 17 episodes showing with titles and dates and beneath that box it said the final episode of the season will be aired on 3/14.

I didn't care for Kevin at the start of the season, but as they peel back his layers, I am really liking him more and more. I am not that fond of Rebecca right now either. And Jack taking the drink at the end ... ugh! Didn't like that.

This show continues to remind us that all people are flawed & life is unfair. While Rebecca remains my least favorite character, the casting & performances of the young actors are phenomenal. I've found the episodes have become increasingly less cohesive & believable. Each episode seems like a parade of constant drama for every character. Combined with the time travel & random characters that have been introduced without completed story arcs, it becomes overwhelming to process. However, I still plan to watch for the rest of this season...

I think you must have edited your post or maybe I read it in someone else's but it had some very valid points about the story arcs...what happened to Kate's employer...Have Kate and Toby just picked up and moved to the east coast with no regard to their responsibilities on the west coast? Now I'm curious!! LOL!!

And Kevin and Randall? OMG. Im bawling. What a good brother. Finally a good brother! I haven't loved his character too much. A whiny attention seeker he's needy. I hope he continues to grow up. I want to see how Jack dies and Randall's bio dad dies (can't remember his name). I tired of the hints. I'm getting impatient. I'm beginning to think this show will be like How to Get Away with murder. I don't love any of the characters and the one with any redeeming qualities will somehow be the first to die besides the 2 that we know *will* die. ETA: I know how Randall's bio dad will die, it's when.

Now I'm curious!! LOL!! Busted! I had included Kate & Toby visiting the east coast for the holidays & ignoring their residency on the west coast (eg where does Toby live in NYC? Is Kate still staying with Rebecca/Miguel? how about their jobs/lives in LA?) an example of a story gap/suspended reality.

The whole situation with Toby & Kate on the East Coast & Kate's job both bug me tremendously. I don't understand why they haven't done a single thing to clarify either of those issues.

Toby can not travel by air because of his heart attack and surgery. That's why he was able to take her to camp.

Just finished watching. Oh my...bawled! Simply bawled! Love the ending. I am liking Toby a little. And I wasn't fond of Kate before, but the tides turning in her favor. Miguel has redeemed himself with his interaction with Kevin. And liking Rebecca less. I hope that that drink Jack had doesn't turn into a lot more and he dies after leaving the bar! I don't get to see next week's teasers, so I don't know if he's still around in that time frame.
The actors for the teen Big 3 are perfect! Especially Kate. Looks just like her! And Randall with his deep voice.
We may never know what happened in California. I guess we assume Kate's job is done. Toby can't fly back right away because of his heart attack. So he probably called his employer and took a leave of absense. He did work, right? Oh, and I think he's staying in a hotel room. So no permanent residence for him. When Beth had to go to her mother's, I was thinking perfect for Kate! She can stay and watch the girls and help with William! I should be one of the writers! LOL!
