I'm so tired and depressed!!!
As I've said a few times my home life is drastically different from what we are accustom to. My husband was let go from his position after 10 years and has had no luck with finding a job. I don't want him to take a job, just to have a job. I want something that makes him happy and causes some excitement for the day. I hated the stress that came with his other position.
I've been a stay at home mom for 12 years and decided to try to step up my "go to work" game plan. I didn't expect to be back in the field for another 3 or 4 years. So currently, I am trying to get my license for real estate. I took all my classes and passed with the lowest score of a 92. My other test was a 97. I know what we went over and I have continued to study over it.
I took the mandatory tests last week to get my license and passed only 1 test. I paid my $54 again and went back in today to retake the remaining test. I missed passing by 1 question. 1 stupid question. I am beside myself. I keep thinking I'm going to help my family and instead I keep having to pay out $54 and can't get started on my goals.
I sorry to vent I am just beside myself right now. I don't want to talk to anyone because I feel like my life is in the doghouse. I don't want to add another element of crap to my list. So I laid it out here on the peas!
Thanks for listening. I needed this!

I have two tips for passing the Real Estate Exam:
1) Pick up the test questions any time you have a spare second. You need to learn how they ask.
2) Mark all the math questions as ones you will come back to. Therefore, go through all the language questions first. Then, switch into math mode and do them all at the same time. The person who gave me this tip said it was allowing one side of the brain to work and then the other. I don't know if that is true, but it does help.
Good luck. A word of caution, however. It takes several months of spending money on dues, marketing, and supplies before you have your first closing. Be sure you are prepared.

Hang in there... I've been there... I posted many posts about it... Hopefully you'll see the end soon... I was laid off, then fired from a job, DH was between jobs... Finally we are both employed and both look promising but I got handed another blow... an IRS letter that for the 2nd time in two years I messed up our taxes. The bill is through the roof. It seems it never stops.
I will pray for you and I know what you are going through.. hang in there girl!!

It is easier than I expected to get tripped up. Thanks for the tip and word of caution. I am a part of an amazing team....just trying to get my license so I can do everything. I'm very blessed in that sense. I was prepared for what expenses I have to pay a head of time! I'm hopeful to get off to a fairly fast start. That's why i wanted to pass so badly....spring is a great market for sellers and buyers!

Oh man! That is a hard pill to swallow. Just remember that you are doing the very best you can, and that is absolutely all you can do. You'll get it next time. I admire you for stepping out of your comfort zone to do what needs to be done for your family. I hope your next test goes great, and that your husband can find a job that will make him happy as well as help pay the bills.

That must have stung! When we're down, things that normally would have been a small bump in the road start to feel like a mountain! Hang in there - your efforts will pay off and you'll look back and see things differently very soon.

Aww.... (( hugs !!)) You don't need to APOLOGIZE for venting! That's one of the wonderful things about venting on a message board---it's a great venue to get objective opinons; plus-- it's helpful to hear from a lot of different people who can give you new perspective, advice, and/or just some support Please try not to be so hard on yourself---you are working VERY HARD to get that license....good for you! I'm so sorry about your DH's job; I sent up prayers for both of you.

Everything seems worse when we are having a rough go of it. Don't be hard on yourself. You are doing a wonderful thing by starting a fresh career to boost your family's financial status. You'll get it.

I'm here cheering for you.. I was in something of the same boat before I started teaching -- kids were young, I had been home with them, husband lost his job -- lots of pressure in me to finish school and get a job or give up the dream. It's tough, but you will be so happy one day you did the tough work and accomplished this.
My friend's husband painted houses for two years while looking for the right job after being laid off. I hope your DH will find the right job or find a way to earn some extra income while looking.

My dh is a realtor and loves his job but it is hard work ... pretty much 24/7 so be prepared ... There are definitely startup costs: signs, lockboxes, etc. Marketing is important too ... my dh sends out calendars and notepads ... you need to get business cards ... and then there is social media It will be tough at first but as you build up a client base you will do well ... best of luck to you

OP, didn't you post about taking the test in another thread? As I mentioned there, I have so been there, and I applaud you picking yourself back up and doing what is best for you and your family. You can do it!

(((Hugs))) I know it's so hard to get started in this business. Is there a title company someone having study sessions? Do you have a realtor friend you can ask questions of? Have you bought a study guide? Those study guides can be very, very helpful for state exams. I know our state exam is a lot harder than the national. It's like the word things weird and ask obscure stuff on purpose to trip you up. I counted how many times I guessed on my state test. 17 times in a 50 question test. And I did well in pre-licence too. Very high scores and I knew the material so well I took the final test in 20 minutes. No issues with the national test. The state test is a killer. You can do this! Get that study guide. Read your textbooks again. Study the areas you missed. You are going to be a kick butt Realtor. Just one more test. BTW, I read once that students do better when they write out what they are feeling about a test right before they take it. It lets them express their fears so they can concentrate on the test. The kids in the study scored one full letter grade better on the tests where they wrote out their feelings. Maybe try that?
