Yes! My oldest is getting married in June. I knew about the oldest from your previous posts. But I wasn't sure about the younger. Wow -- two weddings! That's great.

I wear size 3.5 on my ring finger Whoa. That's really small. I have worked part-time at a jewelry store for several years now and we rarely see a ring finger that size. (On children/teens maybe, but not on grown women.) When I worked in the jewelry department of a big box store, the smallest size we could order was a 4.

I'd actually be pretty surprised if any mother knows the size of her daughter's ring finger - again assuming it's an engagement ring. I don't really know anyone who wears a ring on that finger until engagement, so at best you'd be guessing if it's a half or full size smaller than her right hand (assuming she's right handed). I guess on the off chance the daughter has tried on the mother's engagement ring and it exactly fit - but what's the chance of that? I bet my mom could pick out a ring that fits me and my sister, she used to say that my finger was the same as hers and my sister's finger was like her pinky so she could just go to a jewelry case and try stuff on and decide. But I guess I'm just lucky that my mom used to give jewelry for Christmas :-)

"Can’t sneak away with any of her rings? Tell her that you just heard a fun fact -- if you take your shoe size and divide by two and then add three, it will sum up to your ring finger size." This does not work for me at all. My shoe size and ring size are the same, though, so you just never know! Both of these formulas/rules work for me, this is like a word problem, how big is my shoe size and ring finger? :-)

I am amazed at how many of you know your ring size. I guess it just hasn't come up often enough for me where it's something I need to know offhand! I have my wedding band (plain gold, replaced my original when the diamond fell out) and my family ring, which I can't wear at the moment because it is about to lose at least one stone.

Whoa. That's really small. I have worked part-time at a jewelry store for several years now and we rarely see a ring finger that size. (On children/teens maybe, but not on grown women.) When I worked in the jewelry department of a big box store, the smallest size we could order was a 4. My grandma wore a size 4 on her ring finger. She was a petite woman and her ring fit my pinky finger lol. I have chubby fingers and wear a size 7-7.5. I've noticed when I lose weight my rings slide around more. I would try and trick her to find her size. Say something non chanlanty or something. That way she'll be surprised!

I have no idea what MY own ring size is, much less what my daughter's is. Challenger her to a thumb wrestling match and size up your hand against hers? otherwise, I've got no ideas...... Congratulations!

That formula works for my ring size. It works for me, too! Now I'm curious about my ring size. I remember it being the size 5 ish range? According to that formula it would be 6.5.

Do you have any old inventory from your wholesale buying days? Have them come over for dinner and say how you are getting ready to sell the rest. Everyone can try rings on and check them out. Or do you have one of those ring sizing things they have at jewelers? A spin on this idea. Ask her to be a hand model for photos of old stock you want to sell off.

If you can't get an idea of the ring size, always go bigger.

Could he ask one of her friends to help him out? Maybe if a girlfriend has lots of rings (my kids have a lot of rings and jewelry from American Eagle) that they could "share" just to give him an idea? He may not want to ask her family members about a ring size because his girlfriend may want to tell them herself after they get engaged (to surprise them! I was so excited to surprise my parents with the news of my engagement!).
Congratulations to your son!

I don't think I even knew my own ring size until we started ring shopping together. Can they start looking, so he can get an idea of what she wants? There is so much out there these days besides the usual engagement ring. Both DDs have very different engagement rings, at their request. Neither wanted a diamond solitaire.
