Well except for shopping and hoarding.... lol I was just reloading my ATG gun and it dawned on me that there are times that some of the tape doesn't get on the picture or whatever I am trying to put down on my page and it gets rolled back up in the gun. So today, after I reloaded my gun, I am going through the used stuff (the paper left behind) for any tape.. I am finding lots of it.. LOL.. I HATE buying adhesive.. So even before my ATG days, I used the little squares and lots of times I would even cut those in half to make them last longer. I hardly ever used the glue sticks though.. learned my lesson that they never hold anything down good enough. So unless I am in a snowstorm, 20 miles from a store and deathly sick, I avoid glue sticks!! I used to save every scrap of paper, but that got to messy, involved, overwhelming so I pitch anything less than about 4x6 unless I KNOW I can use it later. So anyone else do anything that is 'cheap'??

Oh on more thing. Back when I was into stamps, the ones you had to cut out from a sheet and put on the wood and you had to trim the excess off.. I saved the excess for popup stickies.. I know I learned that from here or another message board a million years ago. And I used them all up!

I'm frugal. I scrap 12x12, and sometimes I'll do a LO that involves putting a slightly piece of paper in the center (maybe a 10x10 or an 8 1/2 x 8 1/2) so that I'm left with a border of my background paper. Well, if I like the background paper enough, I'll cut out the part that would be hidden by the center square. It's so much extra work for a scrap of paper! And I do the thing with the tape sometimes too!

Oh I used to do that too!! Or if I needed some of the solid, I would cut behind the pattern paper! lol

I'm pretty frugal myself. I do both of those things!!! I also only buy adhesive when I have a coupon or if it's on sale.

The pop dots-I use all the non circular pieces too so I utilize the entire sheet. Who cares if it's not a circle.
And when I do a layout that requires a bunch of layering and you never see the background paper, i pull a sheet of paper from a stack and just use the white side. I don't care that I don't have a cardstock base.

I go through a lot of foam dimensional/pop dots. I used to buy the circle ones and then when I used up the sheet, I'd cut up the negative to get more pieces out of that.
And then I discovered adhesive foam sheets for $.99 for a 9"x12" sheet at Ms. Now I cut to the size and shape I need and there is never any waste.

i used to be ms frugalista, saving every scrap. But no longer. I found it just bogged me down to have scraps, and I didn't use them anyway. SO now, i either make a quick card RIGHT THAT SEConD with the scraps, or i throw them away. The horror!!!

The adhesive ones are only available in white and will have a peel off backing paper.

There was a time when I basically scrapped all with cardstock. I had some brads & eyelets, but other than that, I really didn't buy any embellishments or even patterned papers. And when I look at those albums, I still really like them. So, despite not scrapping that way any more, those pages, which were far less expensive to make, are still something I really like. I still tend to make some of my own embellishments rather than buying the ones that coordinate with scrap lines. I often buy only the 6x6 pad instead of single sheets of 12x12, and it feels crazy to me to know that I spent %5.99 on that pad with every paper in the line, and now I'm going to consider spending $5.99 on a pack of 8 brads or something. So sometimes they make it into my cart, but then before I order I change my mind, take them out, and add more paper instead. So, I didn't spend any less, but I got more paper, which is my big scrappy love.

I almost never buy Jolee type embellishments or titles, or alpha stickers or Thickers. I would much rather cut or create something custom with my electronic cutter that fits my page perfectly and costs a fraction of what those things cost. Why spend $5-6 on something I can make out of a 50¢ piece of cardstock?
Back when I did a lot of stamping, I would get foam tape on a gigantic roll and just cut off the pieces I needed. It worked great and was a lot cheaper than the little packs of pop dots.
I do keep bigger pieces of cardstock scraps and I try to use them when I can. I go through my scrap drawers before cutting into a new sheet when I only need a little piece of something for a diecut or whatever. A couple times a year I go through the drawers and clear out all but the biggest pieces and donate anything I haven't used to my kid's teachers. They love getting them for art and class projects. I know they actually use them because every so often I recognize some of the papers on the projects my kid brings home!

I save scraps of paper smaller than 4x6. I have them sorted in sheet protectors by ROYGBIV. I don't know if it's about being cheap, but lazy and throwing it back in a page protector with the other scraps. My only rule is once it gets really full, I throw small scraps away. I also have pattern paper scraps stored the same way.
I've saved a bunch of pages on pinterest that appear to be made from scraps of paper. I buy 8.5x11 white from WalMart. I'm not super picky about texture and weight. So I buy the cheaper stuff. It's just going in an album.
I think long and hard before I buy embellishments because they always seem overpriced to me. I do like to buy paper that is not the latest releases and on sale. I have got better about buying what is my style and not because it's so cheap.

I use a stapler to adhere everything! It's like a dollar for thousands of staples. Mostly I'm just lazy though.

I frequently cut out the back of patterned paper that isn't going to show if it's covered up with other paper. I also use the whole pop dot sheet, not just the circles.

I like dimension, but not *too much* dimension, so when I am making cards I keep a little trash bin next to me and throw all the packaging and little scraps in there. But when I need my dimension I pull out waste cardstock from the trash bin to layer up to get the right amount of lift - usually a couple of scraps of card. I feel better about using things up and not wasting. But it also stops me from hoarding all the little scraps of card that I don't need because I don't have storage space to keep scraps. If I don't re-use a piece of card or packaging during that session it stays in the bin. Although I'm slow to empty that bin so if I need some scraps during the next session and I haven't made any yet I can dig back in. It's a good balance between my minimalist and my frugal impulses

I use cheap cardstock. I buy the 50 sheet packs at AC Moore when they are 4/$10. I do sometimes miss using Bazzill for the texture (orange peel was my favorite) but I don't have the same reckless budget I used to ten years ago.
I keep most of my scraps. I also use a ton of scraps, though, so it kind of justifies it. And my kids use my scrap bags when putzing around. LOL. And at one point my dd wanted to try making paper beads. You should have seen her face when I handed her bags of scrap paper and said, "Have at it!"
I don't buy dies without a coupon. A good one at that.
I have no problem buying rubber stamps at the thrift store.
I buy most of my theme stickers at the Dollar Tree. How often am I going to need a pirate or a turquoise octopus? But for a buck, it's okay. And they are starting to carry some really nice, layered, dimensional stickers.

I don't do anything frugal anymore. In fact, I am trying to free myself. Paper I bought for specific pics, if I have some scraps left over and the layouts are done, I've been tossing it. When I leave a crop if a piece of cardstock can't get me 2 4x6 mats it gets tossed. I have to let it go.
I still have a box of scraps I worked out of for a few months trying to use it up, but what is left in there is colors I just don't use anymore. I rarely use orange, bright yellow, or green from the cheap cardstock packs. That's why it's left over. I need to toss the whole box in the trash without looking.

I type journaling in a Word document, save it, and add to it with journaling for more layouts until the page is full and then I print it. I separate the journaling into white and kraft. I found that if I printed journaling for one layout the rest of that piece of cardstock was wasted. It got moved around until it was dog eared and wrinkled.
