I finally have all our paperwork in and need to get on it. Our taxes are fairly simple, I just have more interesting ways I would rather spend my time! Who's already finished?

I already filed and got my return (took a week to get my return). My taxes are simple to do so I try to get it as quickly as possible or I will procrastinate.

I sent mine in (e-filed) last weekend. Best thing about paying out over $20k in healthcare costs last year?? Getting a $2k refund this year, just in time to buy all the big ticket baby things we need (stroller, carseat, etc).

We are getting them done on Tuesday. So sad, I can't claim the 17 year old kid.

Done, paid and spent. LOL We always pay our car insurance for the year with part of it. The rest went to pay off our cruise in April because we always put the rest of toward a vacation.

Normally DH has it done and ready to send on Feb 1. He hasn't even thought about starting g this year. I just asked when he was planning on doing them. IDK. Ugh...I want to use our return as a down payment on a car for our son.

I did them on 1/31 and had my refund on 2/6. Went super easy this year.

I worded it wrong. Claiming him, losing the child tax credit. That is why we have a guy that does them for us.

Well I get a refund BC I'm a teacher's aide... Nothing to be jealous of there. I filed weeks ago, still waiting on general and NY state refunds. Son filed a week before me and hasn't gotten his yet

Very jealous of those of you who get a refund. My husband doesn't claim much on his w-2s. That's why we usually get a refund. I know, the federal government is keeping our money. I pick my battles.

We always do our taxes at the beginning of February. If we owe, we don't want to find out at the last minute. This year we broke even!

Filed Jan 27th, had our two returns on the 3rd or February. And we claimed our kids. So ours was not delayed.

I'm still waiting on two sets of paperwork from Schwab. (my Trust and my IRA) If I don't have it by March 1st, I'm going to call my CPA and talk to him about filing an extension. I wish I could be done with my taxes because I'm sitting on a large sum of liquid funds that I'm holding on to in order to ensure I have more than enough on hand to pay my taxes and I'd like to get that working for me instead of just sitting there.

I have an appointment in March. Last year we owed quite a bit. But it was a very strange year for us, economically. Hopefully this year we will be closer to null.

Our accountant finalized them and e-filed them last Friday. We owe a chunk of change even after paying estimated taxes last year (self employed). Not sending money into Uncle Sam till last minute though.

We always have to wait until after March 15, as some of our investments wait that long to have their final accounting done. If I file on what they have said at this moment, a revision ALWAYS comes in March. We can usually get it done by the first week of April. I purposely have extra withheld so that we always get a refund.
The years in which we had to pay money made me nuts, so............

Has anyone used that free online thingy on the H&R block website? I have always done our taxes by hand with a paper and pencil, but I also hate doing it every year. I don't want to pay someone to do something I can do myself, and I also don't want to pay for tax software, but the online h&R block thing says it's free. Just wondering if anyone has tried it out?

I had to wait on some ACA paperwork, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Turns out our insurance company made a mistake in what my part of a procedure cost and refunded me a decent chunk of the cost. If I had already filed, I'd have to file an amended return.
