I think I would be speaking to the owner of the gym and inform him that your daughter had a heart attack in his facility and his staff was unaware of what to do in that situation. He may want to train his staff to call 911 when someone is having a heart attack. I agree with this totally. I am appalled that they rang you to ask you to hurry and not call an ambulance. The Birdhouse Lady I know you said that you didn't want to let bitterness set in your heart but what if this happens to someone else and again the staff there don't call an ambulance - next time the person might not be as lucky as your daughter. Perhaps when the shock has settled you may wish to call the manager of the gym to let him/her know what happened. You don't have to be accusatory at all. I'm sorry if I am coming across as demanding (or something) in any way, I know you must be consumed in your worry about Kaitlyn at the moment.

I am so sorry, I can't even imagine how hard that was to deal with! I've never heard of someone so young, having a heart attack. Hope she heals soon! 💕

My former gym was this stupid when an elderly woman fell off a treadmill and bumped her head. Are they told not to call an ambulance or something? Is that a thing? I wanted to punch the manager who had no clue what to do in an emergency. Prayers for complete recovery for Kaitlyn.

So sorry to hear this. I know you are all terrified. I had this happen to me this summer. I am 48, fit, a eating well vegetarian (as in not lots of processed foods and so on) and it happened. If you want to chat or have questions let me know. I am still muddling through but if I could be of help id love to as i know the range of emotions you and your dd are going through.
ETA-- I had to have the stent, the tear was too big and I was entering a bigger heart attack at the time. Glad they were able to use meds for her!

What a terrifying thing for your family to go through. How is your daughter doing? Many prayers and positive thoughts are coming your way. Wishing your daughter a quick and strong recovery.
P.S. I just heard this morning that the host (man) of the Biggest Loser just suffer a heart attack while he was exercising at the gym 2 weeks ago. Scary.

Oh my gosh - this is so scary!
How fortunate that you got her help in time and that although she has to temporarily take it easy for now, she can get better.
I'm sure as the Mom you were so frightened!

How terrifying! I'm glad she is stabilized and recovering. Is there some underlying condition or genetic predispostion? It is certainly shocking to hear of a 17 year old having a heart attack. Hope she is feeling better and recovery goes smoothly. So hard as a parent when you just want to freak out, but can't because you have to appear calm and confident for your child. I hope you are doing better now too.

Thanks for sharing a largely very positive update. I'm so glad the news is looking so good, and that your daughter sounds like she is coping amazingly well for a young person. As you say, it would be hugely difficult for an adult, let alone a teen. I'm sure you are a huge source of strength and support for your DD and it sounds like her doc and best friend are pretty awesome too. I will keep sending good vibes your/her way! (((HUGS)))
