Thank you for updating us about Kaitlyn. I think of you two often. My mama heart goes out to you. Sounds like she's in the best hands and they're taking very good care of her. That is very reassuring. I'll keep you both in my prayers.

The Mayo Clinic is an amazing medical center. Living in Minnesota we know many people who have been treated there. You can feel confident that your daughter will be cared for by some of the best doctors in the world. That is not hyperbole on my part.

The Mayo Clinic is an amazing medical center. Living in Minnesota we know many people who have been treated there. You can feel confident that your daughter will be cared for by some of the best doctors in the world. That is not hyperbole on my part. I can say without hesitation that the Mayo Clinic saved my son's life. He needed tests and surgery for his cancer, and there was no place in California that had the proper equipment or the trained personnel to do that specific test, so we took him to Mayo. He was scheduled for surgery and treatment here in California. My sister did some major research for me by calling experts all over the world (this was before the internet was available to us) to find out what the cutting edge recommended treatment would be for a patient that presented as my son did. I learned that what my son's doctor here proposed would have ended up killing him down the road. My son was scheduled for a treatment at a hospital here in California for the very next day. We met the doctor that very night to question him about the path he had laid out as opposed to what we learned was the better one, he just kept his head down looking at his hands. I asked him if this was his own son, would he continue on the path he had set for my son? He didn't answer. That was more than enough for me and I fired that doctor on the spot. He finally admitted to us that he had never dealt with a case of that type of cancer. He should have sent us on to someone who had, not chosen to use my son as a guinea pig! We were on a plane to Minnesota within a couple of days. I can't say enough accolades for their expertise, smooth way of organizing all of your appointments, and the comfort it provided me in knowing that the best of the best were handling my son's life. We made many trips there, some in summer, some in the dead of winter, and learned about the underground tunnels that could keep us warm and dry while traveling from one building another. My son thought that was the coolest thing ever. Of course, he was 9-years old at the time. He became so much more relaxed as soon as we arrived in Minnesota each time. He said a peace came over him and he didn't worry about his procedures being done in their facility. And this was when he knew he was facing many tests, multiple surgeries, and days of living in a lead-lined hospital room after radiation treatments. How could I have asked for more than that? I am sure you will be receiving the same amazing care for your daughter at Mayo that we received. Are you traveling to the one in Minnesota or on of the others? I don't know what each facility does, I just know that Minnesota was the only location that offered what we needed in pediatric care back then. SaveSave

So glad that she is doing so well and gets to still travel!! I am also glad she is getting a team at Mayo Clinic! I see the one here. They are adult cardiologist team. I hope she can stay with them as she turns older, that's the hard part. I love my Drs at Mayo. They are so efficent and thourough. You usually don't have to wait very long to be seen. I usually try to have all my testing in one day so I don't have to go back as it's a bit of a drive for me and see the dr that afternoon. Plus all the records are right there. So I don't know how that is for you travel wise. I hope she continues to do well and know her limits too. It's ok So glad she's doing better! Good job momma!

Thanks for the update, I think about Kait a lot. Your update was good/bad/good/good/good. Good that one part of her artery has healed completely. Bad that another part hasn't healed at all. Good that they've got her into the Mayo Clinic. Good that she's doing well and feeling almost back to normal. Good that she has a boyfriend who treats her like a princess!

She did the math for me. Probably the least of your concerns for her, but I am tickled about the boyfriend part. Normality. and fun.

I just want to offer continued good thoughts and prayers for your daughter. I would see it as a good sign that her doctor has referred her to the Mayo Clinic. They know exactly what they are doing and they are leaders in the medical field.
