It doesn't bother me to see people out in public in a swimsuit as long as they have an appropriate cover up on. For girls/women it would be something that is not see through (I've seen cover-ups that are lacey and totally see through) and is more than just a pair of shorts and a bikini top. For men/boys it would be a shirt, provided they are wearing trunks and not a speedo.
We ate at a restaurant last week in a casino/resort that had a very nice pool. It amazed me at the number of people that wanted to come in to eat with nothing but a bikini on. The hostess turned several people away saying that they weren't dressed appropriately. I appreciated that.

Yikes. I've basically packed swimsuits and cover ups for our trip to Hawaii. Cute cover ups but cover ups none the less. hope there's not anyone in Oahu who will be forced to gaze upon my touristy self...

If they have a cover up and it isn't a really formal setting i really don't care. I live close to beaches so i see it quite often. I wouldn't be offended by children in swim suits in my own house. Really?

I would be fine with the situation. Family on the way to the beach wouldn't have bothered me in the slightest. I don't like to see swimwear in the grocery store or at restaurants. Just bugs me. I agree with this.

Meh. I live in FL. Swimsuits get worn to other places. I prefer you actually wear a suit that fits your body and shape, whatever it maybe. But other than that it is what it is. On their way to the beach wouldn't have even registered on my radar. Now I do prefer girls to wear a pair of shorts with a bikini top and guys to wear a tshirt at the least. And I try to make sure my kids do, but they are teenagers, so once they are out of my sight I have no clue what they do.

With our proximity to the beach we see lots of beachwear in random places, grocery stores, fast food places, etc. It doesn't really bug me, but the time that we were grocery shopping and saw a very boobilicious woman in a sheer cover up with a bright orange, teeny tiny, thong bikini underneath kinds of surprised me. Thrilled by 11 year old son, though.
