Donna, I am sorry to hear your news. But, there is hope, lots of hope. I rarely venture over to NSBR, but I was meant to see this. You are my sister, back in August, same diagnosis, same stage, and told, no surgery, and little hope. With chemo, and she is in a clinical trial, the pancreatic mass has gone from ?4 cm to .9mm. The liver lesions are shrinking, her tumor marker bloodwork, which indicates the progress of cancer has gone from >20,000 to 120. My sister still has good days and bad days, understandably, so much to think about. But, she is doing extremely well. Do not give up hope! Please! If you are able to enter a clinical trial, there are some great results coming out of them. My understanding is that there are 2 different chemo drugs approved for pancreatic cancer, with clinical trials, something else is added in addition. (She takes 6 capsules twice a day to boost her immune system) Back in 2004, I was diagnosed with lymphoma, but have been in remission since 2007. I understand the fear. Please just take one day at a time. I have told my sister, multiple times, please "just worry about today and tomorrow". it is exhausting to use up all your emotional energy on worrying. You are in my thoughts and prayers. If I can be of any help, feel free to message me. Hugs.

Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry!
I understand you wanting to finish the school year out, but please put yourself first. Precious quality time should be first priority. Not saying you won't have that time, but I learned quickly during my cancer ordeal that day by day matters more than anything. Well besides researching the best options and getting second and third opinions.
You are dearly loved here and we will be right by your side!!
(((HUGS)))

Oh Donna, I am so sorry. My heart hurts for you and your family. jenjie is right, take time to absorb this news and let us and your friends/family help in any way we can. It's going to be a roller coaster ride and yes, you are going to be mad/sad/frustrated. I need to look in my notes to see what chemo drugs DH took, I know he took Gemzar, Five-F-U, a couple others. Maybe reach out to the Lustgarten Foundation to see if they have any clinical trials? ((HUGS)) Let us know what we can do to help. ETA: When you have the port put in, ask for a prescription of Lidocaine. It's a topical pain reliever (salve). You put it on your skin over the port about half an hour before treatment. Cover the salve with a piece of clear Saran Wrap. Once you get to treatment, they will wipe the salve off and it will not hurt when they insert the needle in your port.

Donna I'm so sorry to read your update. I'm sending you positive thoughts and hoping that treatment will make a difference. I don't know anything at all about what trials are out there, but I'm hoping maybe your oncologist can find one that fits. Hugs. My MIL was diagnosed with anaplastic thyroid cancer on March 1, 2012. She is one of the 1-2% that are diagnosed with this freak thyroid cancer. She is also one that survived past a few months of diagnosis. In fact, less than 5% live five years out. She is still alive 5 years out. So don't give up hope. I'm going to be praying for you, your friends and loved ones, and your care team as they determine the best way to treat this. If you want to come to Houston to meet with doctors at MD Anderson for another opinion, I will help you out in any way I can. ((Hugs))
