are you serious. What gives any country, however distasteful their leadership is to others, the right to assassinate another countries leader. Good lord countries can't go round the world and assassinate the leaders of countries that don't happen to align with your beliefs. I'm not defending North Korea's leadership for one second I think he's very unstable but he's not holding the whole world hostage. Have the people of North Korea asked for your help?...do you know that they want your help? There's plenty of people in North Korea that are quite happy with his leadership. Yes, there is great concern about Kim's actions in attempting to build nuclear weapons but assassinating a country's leader isn't the answer. This is how world wars start.
And yes, Russia would come to their aid, not just to piss off the US but because they are also a communist country and no doubt see nothing wrong with his form of oppressive government. And Trump needs to reign in his tweets, he's getting to be as unhinged as Kim of North Korea is. Exactly! Change NK leader to Trump. Would it be okay for them to do it to the US? We have a batshit crazy, unpresidential leader. Holy typos batman. Why can't ,y iPad let me type h e l l?! Yeah, good luck with that. My new iPad has gone completely rogue and it types whatever it wants to and won't let me type what I want to. I thought that I had it figured out last night when I turned of auto correct and predictive but my iPad is back to being a butthole again.

www.cnn.com/2017/04/10/politics/us-aircraft-carrier-carl-vinson-north-korea-strike-capabilities/index.htmlWhat kills me is that you have Trump's dumbass provoking tweets, poking at NK, making claims that US will take care of it and sends US striker aircraft ships into the peninsula... Then Tillerson says "On Wednesday, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that the deployment was routine. Speaking to reporters in Moscow, he said there was "no particular objective" to its current course, adding that he "would not read too much" into its recent deployment to the waters near the Korean Peninsula" Yet it was clear that it was a show of military for. No coincidence there. This administration is so fucked up the right hand knows nothing of the left hand goings on. I hate Trump and the republicans in congress for allowing this bullshit to go on.

I'm not particularly happy that Trump is now saying that we "may" strike if NK does another nuclear test. So, basically, to me that means that if they do it he needs to act in order to not look ineffective, as he claims Obama was. Ugh.

Trump is seriously playing with fire. I believe there is something "wrong" with Kim Jong Un, as in mentally. The Grandfather was a strong man, Daddy was a little nutty, Grandson appears to be bat-shit crazy. His plastic surgeries and weird ass haircut all to make him look like his Grandfather, yeah, something not right there.
I'm praying to whatever forces are out there that someone in Trumps circle can explain, and get thru to him, that Kim Jong Un will nuke South Korea and Japan at the slightest provocation. Beyond the horror of that, someone needs to explain Colin Powells Pottery Barn theory, you break it, you buy it. Once nukes fly, we have to "own" North Korea. An invasion force would have to be huge, casualties would be massive, and the force necessary to hold that country would be unthinkable. Especially seeing the natural allies of South Korea and Japan would be decimated from nuclear fallout.
There's no one that South Korean intelligence knows about that can check this nut. The Uncle that seemed to have some sway was killed on Kim Jong Uns orders. And at this point, with Trump antagonizing thru Tweets, I don't know how much China can stop this.

And dumb ass Trump saying after a 10 minute talk with President Xi, who explained the history of China and North Korea, he suddenly realized it wouldn't be so easy? JFC, he's getting history lessons from a Communist leader, which is just damn bizarre on its face, and freaking dangerous when you dig down into it. No wonder he feels fine gutting the State Department. He'll just get advice from whatever leader he happened to talk with last.

No one is saying...omg, unless someone stops him, we may be at WAR, next week!!! He's golfing this morning and all the while I know he has already put steps in place that will put our country, our troops in harm's way.

North Korea is a problem with no good solution. Technically, we're still at war with them, since the 1953 armistice agreement was only a cease fire, not a peace treaty. And in the years since, North Korea has on multiple occasions said they are not going to abide by it.
The big issue (IMO) is, they were allowed to shit on the armistice agreement, and build up a nuclear program. And now they are a global problem with a capital "P".
The only peaceful solution would be to finally negotiate a peace treaty formally ending the Korean war. But how is that going to work when North Korea has established that they aren't willing to abide by the armistice agreement? What makes anybody think they'd decide to abide by a peace treaty?
Their leader is not sane, not rational, and is not willing to play well with others. And he has nukes. Since the armistice agreement means nothing to them, eventually the cease fire will end. Do we wait for them to fire the first shot and hope it isn't a warhead? I honestly don't know.

Tweets like this are why I think that Trump is unfit to be President. He doesn't know when to shut up. That ass is going to get us into a war.

They're both like kids in a playground IMO except that the consequence of their actions is far more severe. Surely we should be able to expect some level of common sense from a leader of a civilized and intelligent country than to go nah nah nah nah nah to a mentally unstable despot.

So, what I really want to know is why everybody involved in the armistice agreement dropped the fucking ball from 1994 to 2013 when North Korea was popping off at the mouth about not abiding by the treaty any longer and building up their nuclear program?
We saw this coming a mile away. North Korea announced to the world that it was coming. But everybody involved stood around with their thumb up their ass and watched it play out while shuffling around and accomplishing nothing but giving warnings. Which North Korea showed time and time again meant nothing because they were gonna do what they wanted.
The time to deal with North Korea was before they had nuclear weapons. Now that they have them, they're waving them around like a big dick and threatening to use them. And we're stuck with a moron in charge who can't help but poke the bear, when we should be bending over like a bitch and playing nice with psycho Kim to placate him until someone figures out a way to defuse the situation without massive collateral damage.
This was allowed to happen.

This was allowed to happen. Honestly, because we, as in the world, only have so much sway on a sovereign nation. The only true way we could have stopped it, was all out war. And there's been plenty of times during the ensuing years, that there was no guarantee that China wouldn't have joined North Korea in a ground war, and we all know how that turned out during the Korean War. I think it's easy to say in retrospect that we could have stopped this, but there are so many, many factors that played into it all. Sanctions only worked so much when China was willing and able to prop them up. And telling China to do anything is wasted diplomacy, they will do what they feel is in their own best interest.South Korea, as Gyro posted about, are leary of a mass opening of North Korea, because they will bear the brunt of acclimating NK to the rest of the world. Certainly not an easy or quick task. Not to mention, every time NK has been threatened about their nuclear program, they were more than capable of bombing the hell out of Japan and South Korea with conventional weapons. I can assure you of this, cause I lived in South Korea and Japan from 1993-1999. Seemed every couple of months a NK spy would be caught in Japan, they have/had people in place there to help pull off attacks. All those Japanese citizens NK kidnapped in the 70's and 80's helped them develop their spies to blend into Japanese society. There's never been easy answers with NK. Of course it would have been easier but before they had nukes, but as I said, it still would have been ugly. And by the time we detected they were going nuclear, more, than likely the cat was already out of the bag, unfortunately.

Just to answer the subject question - I would not feel anything about a war with NK. I live in the D.C. Area and I would be gone because this would be ground zero. I think I'd be more worried if I lived near Mar-a-Lago, since that's where he seems to want to spend a lot of his time and it's likely a lot less secure. These are sure some crazy times we live in. We are concerned. I live 20 minutes from Mar-A-Lago. When we hear the military planes, we wonder whats going on and what did Trump do?

I already put this trump tweet on the tweet thread. But based on of the discussion on this thread I'm repeating it here.
"Our military is building and is rapidly becoming stronger than ever before. Frankly, we have no choice!"
This is one chilling tweet.
