I'm themed challenged, regardless the current trend. Therefore, I'm always grateful for versatile patterns on the reverse of papers & rarely buy embellishments in these themed lines.
Since my primary scrap subject is our (now teen) son, I'm disappointed with the oversaturation of pink - the biggest & longest trend - in the industry. It's my favorite color, & I've certainly paid my dues with its inclusion on pages from his younger years. I wish for a complete non-themed masculine line with classic patterns & embellishments, rather than having to buy random sheets of papers (for their reverse patterns) from multiple lines.

I almost posted the flamingo and pineapple trend on the "things that make you go Grrr..." thread. Even Cocoa Daisy, where I usually get my planner supplies, is featuring flamingos and pineapples for next month. It's okay to offer it as a choice, but when it's the overall theme you get stuck looking at every day all month, not so cool. Definitely not a trend I'm embracing.

I'm not opposed to most random theme things. My problem is I don't need them to inundate every line. I can use most items 1-2x. Some of those random images gets a bit harder after that - Like cactus, unicorns, & vacation trailer homes. But the pineapple and flamingos I could see as summery layering elements.

I love the Flamingos and whole tropical look. I don't mind the trends if its not my thing I figure its a way to save some money until the next round of products. What is getting me is the dang Pink in every line. Pick a new color people!

Okay, I didn't even know flamingos and pineapples were a thing. I can't see using either for scrapping since I have no pictures they would work with. However, maybe I should go to happy hour with some scrapper friends and have a pina colada and drink it through a pink straw. Now that would work.

I am bound and determined to make more of my own PP w/stamps, inks, paints - in the colors I like and in the patterns I like. I am up to my eyebrows w/pink and 30-something IG-inspired "trends" showing up on my PP. Every now and then there's a good collection in neutrals or non-pastels or darker (I don't call them MASCULINE because I LIKE THEM TOO!) palettes - but way too "then" more than "now".
Done with it!

I love pineapples! Can't say why for sure, but definitely do appreciate good pineapple home decor, and scrappy stuff.
I am not annoyed by flamingos, but I could live without those.

For some unexplained reasons I LOVE all the pineapple stuff - I bought sandshoes with little gold pineapples on them, I have several pineapple handbags and I have a nice little collection of pineapples in my scrap room. I also have a dress covered in pineapples and some cute earrings. The reason my liking is so unexplained - I hate the taste of pineapple and won't eat or drink anything with it in it!
I will be using all the paper I bought, especially Kaisercrafts Tropical Punch paper because I have trips to Hawaii and Fiji to scrap. I have some paper with flamingos and will probably try and use them in small doses or use the B side.

I actually liked the moustaches, but as with everything it seems, it was overkill and beat to death!! Not sure on the flamingos and pineapples, but I could sort of see them for summer. Zebras and other random zoo animals, I just don't get. Also, and I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but enough with all the coffee stuff already!

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but enough with all the coffee stuff already! I'm with you. I don't drink coffee and have no need for all the coffee themed supplies. At least I don't feel like I'm over run with those though. As someone mentioned upthread I'd be ok with all these specific icons if they only appeared in one part of the collection but I really struggle when they are on the papers, the sticker sheet, in the die cuts, on the chipboard sheet, and on the washi. I have no problem with them appearing on one paper and one of the embellishment options, but unless it's a pineapple themed collection leave me with something I can purchase.

I'm not opposed to most random theme things. My problem is I don't need them to inundate every line. This is how I feel. Okay, I get one manufacturer jumping on the pineapple/flamingo/cactus trend. But then why do all of them have to do it? Even the knock-off $1.50 bin at M's has them. Even Target's Dollar Spot has them. Why can't every manufacturer produce something original?

My grandmother had the colonial (?) brassy kind of pineapples around, it was suppose to be a symbol of a welcoming home. I inherited a fondness, plus love to eat it! It's easier than mustaches or glasses.
The same with flamingos, I've always loved their kitsch, and we visit places with live ibis or flamingos.

This could be my universal rant about trends. I could use a few mustaches on pages with my kids in costume or special events. I didn't need 35 stickers plus multiple patterned papers. I sure don't want flamingos on every winter planner page, or even lesser trends like bicycles with flower basket! Insert your trend nemesis here, mustaches are easy to target -and I have boys who learned to shave during its popularity!

I don't get a lot of the trends, and how - suddenly - something becomes a trend. I have managed to miss flamingoes, but I have pineapples and have no idea what I'll do with them. Mustaches too, though if I had photos of my son when he participated in 'Movember' they'd have a place. Glasses I don't mind - I am just about to make a page about my son on one of our vacations. He had collected several pairs of sunglasses from a handout at out UBahn station, and wore a different pair everyday of vacation. Sunglass diecuts are going to be used!

If I could only figure out how to post a picture, I would show you my DD being kissed by a llama, and her reading a book to a llama, when she was an intern at the zoo I get very excited when I see llama embellishments!

Yeah, for some reason I think pineapples and flamingos would be easier to work into pages and cards than travel trailers and antlers (HATE those!) and various other more specific themed items of recent years. Of course, I just love flamingos. They have nothing to do with my life, but they make me happy.

We're also going to the Dominican Republic in June, and many of the hotels there have a bunch of flamingos (and pineapples) around the buffets. I also have an abundance of peacock paper and embellishments, so I'll be stalking those birds too.

you know you're a scrapbooker when the trips / photos are somewhat purposefully chosen to coordinate with the papers you have!! ...and now I think we need to plan another tropical trip to go with all the tropical / beach themed papers I've bought!!

This is one of the reasons we go tropical every year. I live in Colorado. We have one reservoir about 45 minutes away. It has dirt for beaches and once in a while we have a rattlesnake cruising the waters instead of flamingos. No one makes THAT paper.
