I ordered for the first time from SSS. I saw the May animation kit and thought, well that is different. I also really liked that it came with Illustrated Faith papers. So my kit arrives and I am very disappointed. First it came with 12 pieces of 4x6 paper, not 12 sheets. Also, my flamingo black and white card image had a smudge of color on it. I took pictures of both concerns, including the wording of what was included in the kit-12 sheets of Illustrated Faith designer papers Basics edition. I also included that the video stated it includes 12 sheets of gorgeous double sided designer paper. I received a timely response that stated-the 4x6 paper is circled below, you are supposed to get 12 of these, she included an image. I feel like the kit description is misleading and as of this post it still lists 12 sheets.

tlc59 I'm sorry you're disappointed! I subbed to the SSS kit for several months and the kit always included 6x6 paper (or smaller). But yes, I agree the description should be accurate. Did they offer to replace the smudged card for you?

The description on the blog says they are 4x6 papers - one of the many reasons I didn't get this kit. This pad is manufactured as a 6x8 pad, so I assumed they were 1/2 sheets. The site should state the size, but the photo clearly shows smaller papers.
I hope you end up happy!

Yes, the SSS card kit is always 6x6 patterned paper and 8.5x11 solid cardstock for card bases. 12x12 patterns are typically too large scale for cards. If it was a scrapbook kit i would expect 12x12 sheets.

Got an email today flogging the May kit. From reading the YT comments on it on the SSS YT site and other crafters' sites, it seems like it was a pretty big disappointment to MANY subbers.
They need to go back to their awesome kits of about a year ago or more. The last several have just not been up to par - IMO.

I thought the May kit was way too restrictive. They should have had the animation stamps as an extra, not the main item.

Wait, so, is their watercolor palette just that they put four dabs of watercolor from a tube onto some cardstock?

Wait, so, is their watercolor palette just that they put four dabs of watercolor from a tube onto some cardstock? I saw that, too. Four Daniel Smith watercolors would cost more than the whole kit, so I'd guess that's what they do. Daniel Smith has a sampler you can order with dots of a bunch of their colors so you can test them and see the true color, check staining and sedimentation, etc. I'm sure that's where they got the idea. I might actually get the June kit. I've skipped the last 4 or 5 months.

It's way better than the odds-n-ends (IMO) May Kit. Glad they've gone back to more versatile paper (no religious stuff), 6x6 papers, a decent stamp, etc.

I like the kit, but unfortunately by the time I get it in late May, the wedding and graduation I would use it for will be over. And I already have the Oxide ink. I guess I'm going to pass. This would have been a great kit to have for Mother's Day.
With this kit, I've come to realize the timing of the kits has been off for the last year. Some of them aren't getting used because they didn't arrive in time for the intended theme. The patriotic kit that came in August. The oversold Santa kit that I got after Christmas. The Valentine kit that substituted stickers instead of the cute enamel shapes, which I ordered elsewhere and didn't receive until March.
At least it's optional to buy each month. SSS still manages to get a fair share of my crafty budget. I love their exclusive stamps with matching dies.

Especially for the Christmas kit. I wouldn't mind getting that one in October so that I can get started in my Christmas cards a little early.

I really like the stamp after seeing it used with watercolor, so I went ahead and ordered the kit. It will make some pretty cards for summer.

I debated long and hard but skipped this month (and last too). I just don't see me using this.

Well, Vicki Papaioannou just put up her 1 Kit, 10 Cards YouTube video for the May card kit, and they're adorable! Her ideas are always simple, yet interesting and appealing. Since I didn't get the May kit, I would still like to try them with similar papers. The acetate sheets made some really cute cards.
I'm glad I ordered the June kit. She said she'll be posting her video on that soon.

They never do 12x12 sheets--those wouldn't fit in the Simon box.

It's been so long since I actually got the monthly kit I can't remember, do they send an email saying it has shipped?
