Oh no! I'm so sorry you have to deal with this! A couple of our friends have had it and my mom had it. Everyone says it's miserable. I hope the meds help quickly!

Whine away. The tiredness is bad, and was surprising to me. Kind of a flu-y tiredness.
I had it on my scalp, extending down onto my eyelid. Fortunately the antiviral stopped it before it went into my eye. Cold helped. I put water bottles in the freezer and then held them to my forehead.
Take care. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm so sorry. I've heard it is painful and I hope you don't have to endure too much of that.

Whine away! I've not had shingles, but I've seen my parents go through it, and I know that the pain is excruciating. I hope that you get through it quickly and that your case is as mild as possible.

Hope you feel better soon. I haven't had them thankfully, but I remember my mum having then and they were really painful.

You have my sympathy. I have known several people with shingles and it truly is awful. I don't take any meds and never get flu shots etc. but I did get my shingles vaccine and made sure my husband got his. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Ugh, you poor thing! I have had three mild outbreaks in my life, the first in my early 20's around my boob line, and then twice in my early 30's, right across the front of my neck.
Neither of those times I was under any kind of stress at all, it was so out of left field!
Your post reminds me that I'm now at the age where I can (and should) get a shingles vaccine. I'll ask at my next appointment.
I hope you recover quickly!

Hey, you have shingles. You can scream if you want to. Hopefully, the anti-virals will work quickly and you'll be comfortable fast.

I had met enough people who have had it to know that as soon as I could get the vaccine, I would. Sorry you are feeling awful. Hugs.

Doc says, " Are you under a lot of stress?" Bingo, Doc. Bingo. i got shingles once---when i was about 16. let me see....my parents were fighting like cats and dogs while headed down the road to divorce....i was a teen....there was high school....... i would say that about summed up my outbreak. the odd thing is that i went through worse things after that, including the death of a parent, but the shingles never came back. go figure.

I had a mild case on my face years ago (I think in my 40's) and my dh fairly recently had a moderate case. Don't be upset or discouraged if you have to take more than one course of meds. It took 3 rounds for me and 3 or 4 for my husband. Wishing you a quick and easy recovery!

Just a PSA, before getting the shingles vaccine, make sure that no one you come into close contact with has a compromised/suppressed immune system. The Shingles vaccine is a live vaccine. No one would ever know that I am in this situation unless they asked.

I had them in college on my face during finals. You can whine away. They suck! I got them on my neck during finals in college. It knocked me on my ass. The only time in 8.5 years I had ever called in sick to work.

I had a "mild" case at about age 40 ... just at my bra-line which was lot's of fun UGH! Same here! Even though it was a very mild case, I ached and hurt allll over. I could not get comfortable at all. I was cold but didn't want anything touching that spot. I swear, I still get itchy in that spot sometimes. I give you permission to whine all you want about shingles then go have a glass of wine. SaveSave

Whine away! I have heard that shingles are the most painful thing ever, and I am hoping like heck I never get them, but if I do, I am sure I will be a huge complainer.

My daughter had them when she was about 13 months old. They went around one side from the center of her chest to her spine. Her doctor back then was in a practice with her father, who was probably in his mid/late 60's. She walked Brittany into his office and he said "That baby has shingles!" We're pretty sure she got them as a weird reaction to the chicken pox vaccine. She also had measles after an MMR vaccine. She was 1 of the confirmed cases in 2000. She's a medical freak where vaccines are concerned. For the record (or the vaccine spreadsheet), we had her vaccines done individually after that. She's 17 and fully vaccinated. I hope you feel better and heal quickly! I've known several adults who have been absolutely miserable with them.

I am so sorry. I know it can be very painful. My mom had Shingles, and it was pretty miserable, in spite of her high pain tolerance. My oldest daughter-in-law has had it at least twice, and she is only 38.
I hope you recover quick!

Thanks everyone who has commiserated with me. And I'm sorry for anyone who is or has dealt with them, too.
Even with the antivirals, the blisters are spreading. They cover a quarter of my back and a quarter of my chest. And all of my left armpit. A bra is not even a possibility at this point.
I usually have a high pain tolerance, but man, it's hard to deal with prolonged pain.
