Although, I'm glad Comey is gone because I think he did irreparable damage to HRC's momentum in late October (and then we find out...whoops, sorry, nothing there) but when I heard how he found out he'd been fired, I almost felt sorry for him. That action tells you loud and clear a lot about the character of the person doing the firing and their ability to lead.
What's really laughable? He gave his apprentices at least a face to face when he fired them, but he couldn't even pick up a phone for this, knowing Comey was out of town?

The Republicans are afraid that if they remove him from office, people will blame them for advancing him as their candidate. It is more important to them to retain their high paying jobs than it is to ensure the safety of the country. That is why we need to make sure we remove those in office who continue to support and endorse every word out of his mouth and every action taken by him. (Support and Endorse also includes not actively opposing) But for all they've done wrong, how could they be blamed for him being the candidate? He won the nomination. That is the one thing that isn't their fault.

Press conference with Spicer right now about this. He is trying to redefine what "loyalty" means. He also responded, "not to my knowledge" to the question as to whether the dinner with Comey was taped.

McConnell I think is scared because Trump has something on him.
Overall I think the problem is Pence is compromised. So he won't be able to be President either.

From one of the reports I read:- Michael Beschloss, a leading presidential historian, said on Twitter on Friday: “Presidents are supposed to have stopped routinely taping visitors without their knowledge when Nixon’s taping system was revealed in 1973.”
Hmmm...that doesn’t sound right. I know there were declassified transcripts and audio released of secretly bugged meetings during the Ford and Reagan years (I think you can even buy them at Amazon). I wouldn’t be surprised if that Trump-Comey dinner was bugged.

I really wish we had some sane Republicans here that can calmly explain how their candidate is justified in all of his bullying tactics. Honestly, I'd love to hear some rational explanation from the other side. Because all of my conservative Christian friends are very, very quiet. You're assuming they voted for him. I'm a conservative Christian who used to be a conservative Republican and I have never defended one single thing he's done. I didn't vote for him, I have actively spoken against him, and I pray often that he will somehow be removed from office, soon. Thank you, that is comforting to hear. The few CC friends that I have all voted for Trump. They were pretty vocal on Facebook about it. Now they are completely silent. I'm hoping they have your same viewpoint.

You all who have access to a television should watch this press conference with Spicer. I'm watching on abc where they interrupted regular programming.

The only people I know who voted for Trump, sadly, ARE Conservative Christians so you're not entirely off base. But I am consoled that even among the many Conservative Christians I know, only a very small number voted for him, and of those, only 3 are younger than the age of 70.

The Mormons get their presidency in the end. That would at least keep the old geezer from running for another senate term. I say thumbs up!

I have a feeling that if Trump did have a taped conversation, he thinks it would paint Comey in a bad light but would actually paint Trump as in the wrong. I think he's that delusional at this point.

Yes. Because I think that Trump's mental facilities have slipped to the point that he doesn't actually remember what he or anyone else says. This is actually my biggest fear in terms of impeaching Trump. If he is indicted and then testifies, he will honestly say that he doesn't remember over and over and it will be very hard to pin anything on him legalistically.

With this POTUS's ego and his incessant need for approval, if a tape of a conversation that the Director of the FBI said to the POTUS directly to his face that he is not under investigation, don't think for one minute, he wouldn't have leaked it to Fox News or Breitbart to completely sully James Comey's name. This is not a nice man. Never has been, never will be.

That is the one thing that isn't their fault. Not to mention that he won because blue collar workers voted for him. You know, those people he spoke to by the tens of thousands at a time, many times a day and whom Hillary couldn't even be bothered to visit. Highly paid Republicans. I guess they work in coal mines and have lived hand to mouth just for fun. ETA - as opposed to those poorly paid media hacks

Come on, Lefty. Bump the needle. The election was over months ago. I'm not sure what your statement has to do with what we are dealing with today. What we're dealing with today is insanity. HRC and the election should not be a blip on anyone's radar.

The very ones who will be hurt the worst by Trumpcare and cuts to Medicaid. Sucks to be them now for sure and the sad thing is they'll continue to support him and blame everyone else for their own poor choices.

cycworker - I actually forgot about Hillary's campaign stop to my little part of the world. Only those paying tens of thousands of dollars were allowed to be in her presence. The crowd was tens if not low hundreds of people strong! Most impressive.

What the ever-loving heck? I do think this man is insane and I honestly - truly honestly - believe that anyone who still thinks he belongs in the White House is deranged as well. I get not voting Democrat or even voting Republican at all costs, but only those who are completely oblivious, stubborn or complete dolts would think this specific person belongs there still.

Yeah, all those people who now and in the next year have/will have one or none health insurers in their area under Obamacare. Yep. This is really gonna stick it to them. Unlike Obamacare. Sidetracking my point, which was limited and specific.

I really wasn't trying to bait you. Fair enough. But I stand by my feelings that this is not what we need to be focusing on. And that one Trump-voter jab is a miniscule piece of a much grander discussion going on here about the President of the United States threatening the FBI Director he just fired via Twitter.

So what does obstruction of justice look like? Asking for Comey's loyalty........ He's not the godfather!! We just need some Italian music and a horse head.

She said as long as he's signing their legislation they won't do anything.

I am so angry, disgusted and discouraged that our politicians think "Political party first, country second." Do any of them even give a damn about our country anymore? Especially the Republicans. Useless bunch of space and air. If they truly cared about our country, they'd be impeaching Trump now. They can only impeach if there's been a law broken. Which there likely has been, but I'm sure it would have to be more than just suspicion. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think Comey is stupid. You dont get to be Director of the FBI if you are. I'm sure he read Trump and his mental issues long before he got into the WH. Comey must have tons of dirt on him. Even before the campaign... That said, Comey has nothing to lose by revealing things. He already lost his job. Unless Trump has threatened his family or something, I'd be singing like a bird if I had dirt on him. If I were Comey my family would be living in a bunker in the middle of nowhere.
