They know that and that's why most of them left here. I'm not a liberal, I'm independent. I'm pretty open minded and like to see all sides of something before I form an opinion. That's why I asked. But sadly you've neglected to answer. You might want to change your delivery. I don't know that saying there are no sane Republicans here, followed by asking for rational explanation from the other side, is the best way to start the discussion you seem to want. Just my opinion, of course.

But for all they've done wrong, how could they be blamed for him being the candidate? He won the nomination. That is the one thing that isn't their fault. Not to mention that he won because blue collar workers voted for him. You know, those people he spoke to by the tens of thousands at a time, many times a day and whom Hillary couldn't even be bothered to visit. Highly paid Republicans. I guess they work in coal mines and have lived hand to mouth just for fun. ETA - as opposed to those poorly paid media hacks She wasn't talking about "highly paid" blue collar workers, she was talking about the members of Congress who won't impeach him no matter what he says or does.

Pence and Ryan may be swept up - according to Twitter chatter. It would be POTUS Hatch. UNLESS - House noms a new Speaker before order of succession is put in place - which House can do at ANY TIME - and it need not even be a member of the House. Then that person could be POTUS as they might not be caught up in the web. Interesting, no? Wait...what happened? I disappeared for a few hours and now I'm woefully behind. What did Pence and Ryan do?

They know that and that's why most of them left here. As you have said repeatedly. It is their choice to leave. Especially since they could just skip over political posts if they want to stay. I am not going to mute my opinion of Trump because it might wound someone's delicate sensibilities. If they don't like it, that's fine by me. As I've said repeatedly, it's the personal attacks that drive people away, not the opinions on Trump. And why would you suggest those on the Right don't participate instead of suggesting those on the Left stop making personal attacks? That's the attitude that drives people away.

I don't post a ton on political posts, though I read often and I just have to say...Gia, do you EVER post anything on them other than scolding the liberals? Seriously, I read the title and just KNOW you're going to be on here, complaining about how the liberals have run off all of the conservatives.

It will be interesting if it happens- you'd think Pence would have kept himself out of this stuff just to get the presidency. as much as I hate pence, and it is with a fiery passion that I do, I honestly don't think he intended to get caught up in this craziness. Trump is like a tornado and Mike Pence got caught up in it and can't get out. If you lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas. No sympathy for Pence here.

The problem is, you're not the only one here and the majority aren't open minded like you are and tend to shout down when they share their thoughts and opinions. So they don't. And as you mentioned many aren't here anymore. You do it every day--demonize liberals. You put words in their mouth, claim that they have said things that never came out of their mouths. Pot meet kettle x 1,000,000.

If you read often and see my replies often, then you've seen me say other things, but admitting that wouldn't allow you to handslap me over saying something you don't like, now would it. When someone is lamenting over not having the opinions of Republicans here anymore, yes, I'm going to comment on the absurdity of that, given the typical response to them here.

So going back to the Speaker of the House being 2nd in the succession, wouldn't it be hilarious if the Dems win back the House in 2018 and Nancy Pelosi ends up President as both Trump and Pence are taken down in the Russia scandal? Yes, I am PUI.

It's about the fact that the Trump is clearly not able to behave in a way that's appropriate for anyone holding the office of President. I get that there are folks cheering him on for firing Comey and for every one of his stupid tweets. I'm sorry, but if that means they're further disaffected from the process, that's too bad. At this point, it's a price that needs to be paid to stop the insanity. Trump has to go.

This is a conversation I actually had with a family member tonight, and this is why we are doomed:
Family Member: I keep hearing about Trump and Russia. WELL, I DON'T CARE. Obama did so many things he should have been impeached for and no one cared.
Me: Um...what did Obama do that was worthy of impeachment? What did the American public ignore?
FM: Okay, let me put it this way: SHOW ME THE PROOF TRUMP IS IN BED WITH THE RUSSIANS. Show me.
Me: well, I think you'll get your wish if the FBI continues to investigate. If they're allowed to....and why didn't you care this much about proof when you were discussing birther bullshit or when (family member's family) were accusing Obama of being Muslim?
FM: Honestly, I don't give a shit if Trump makes a lot of money off of the Russians. That's capitalism. We're not commies yet.
Me: I'm done. I think banging my face into a brick wall will be more pleasant and productive at this point. ----
And that about sums up the ignorance and idiocy that it seems to take to support Trump. There is no patriotism with these people, only a blind allegiance to party and to fucking the other guy.
Trump supporters literally do not care. But he knows that. He bragged that he could shoot a guy in broad daylight and these people would still support him. He wasn't wrong.

My reply and quoting scrappymom pointed out portions of what she (scrappymom) said back on Page 1 of this thread. Here's the full quote: "I really wish we had some sane Republicans here that can calmly explain how their candidate is justified in all of his bullying tactics. Honestly, I'd love to hear some rational explanation from the other side. Because all of my conservative Christian friends are very, very quiet." Gia didn't come on to this thread until several pages later, long after the insulting comments were already made.

papercrafteradvocate I just went back and checked: YOU, along with several others, "liked" scrappymom's insults, again back on Page 1. The back and forth, and insults that fly, can get tiring. However, to pretend it's only from one side, or one poster, also gets tiring.

However, to pretend it's only from one side, or one poster, also gets tiring. NEVER have I ever stated, pretended or implied it was one side. In fact, I have often stated that it is both sides--kinda my point of my comment I was pointing out the irony in your post (supporting Gia) by chastising another poster for her comment that had not been insulting. I "like" a lot of posts, sometimes in agreement, sometimes to say "I hear ya", sometimes to say you're not alone, and sometimes just to acknowledge a person that I read the comment. I'm sure that just "liking" a post is not committing me to a lifetime of court appearances to be an accomplice in posting on a message board. On page 1, yes 22 others liked what she posted--that Trump was crazy (paraphrasing). And to agree with your one point--I too have seen many of a conservative "like" posts where a liberal was being berated, called names, being demonized--so what does that mean?

For instance, Trump wanted to cut meals on wheels...liberal are up in arms, conservatives say that most of MOW money comes from donations and we should put that money toward the military that coulsnfly their planes for a month because of budget (actual conversation I had) Trumps gold trips...well Obama went golfing a lot and he went to Hawaii which is further and more expensive than Florida and Obama just wanted to travel and Obama...

I agree w/the selective facts - we're all guilty of it to some degree. But they use their underlying "beliefs" to pick the selective facts to reinforce the already-held beliefs. And again, we're all guilty of it to some degree. But I can admit when GOP does something that I think is good even though I disagree with their "consolidate the wealth into the hands of the top 10%" philosophy. But they still make good decisions sometimes. I try to stay open to compromise. Like I have no problem w/DOJ's order yesterday to enforce the laws as written - if we want better laws, Congress should write better laws - not make people work around the laws. But too many in the GOP were taught that "beliefs" were THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD and that compromise is evil. And now we reap what was sown into them.

That's why I liked your post. I appreciate you saying that because it made me rethink my delivery. It just seems to me that people can get out of control emotionally when discussing certain things and then opinions/answers about said topic is never really revealed. I really want to know what the Republicans on here think about Trump's actions. But I guess they either aren't around anymore or they're afraid of a pile on. Which saddens me because I'm sure I am not the only open minded one on here that would like an honest opinion about what they feel about Trump's actions. Is it only the liberals who think this man is insane? That's really all I want to know at this point.

You're not the only one, and I know you feel very passionately about the subject, but you definitely push Gia's buttons the same way she pushes yours. If names weren't visible, it would be hard to tell which one of you was posting. This bickering is ridiculous on BOTH sides, and it really is off-putting. Just because you're on the "more popular" side here, doesn't make it ok. It's not ok from EITHER side, and it's not going to stop until one of you takes the high road and backs off. You're not going to change each other's minds no matter what you say. Sorry for the soapbox. You're both great peas, and there's more to life than all this back & forth.
