I asked yesterday what to give my fellow Girl Scout leaders as a thank you gift. I decided on a monogrammed tote bag from llbean. I had them each monogrammed with their first name initial. Now I am rethinking this - should I have gone with their last name initial? Proper etiquette states that it should be last initial, but current trends suggest either is fine.
I want to call llbean today to see if I can change it but if I can't, would you be okay with your first initial on a bag?

My first and last initial are the same so you wouldn't have to worry! 😀 But I think you are just fine with first initial.

Absolutely would prefer my first initial. In fact, we have a few LL Bean bags in our house that do have first initials on them.  |

I'd definitly prefer my first initial. My last initial still belongs to my ex husband so I wouldn't want that on its own!

I would absolutely want my first initial, and NOT my last, if it was only going to be one letter. I know your last initial is the largest on a monogram with all three of your initials, and your last name initial would be the best for some kind of home decor, but for a personal item like a bag, I for sure would want my first.
Very nice gift idea, by the way. That's something they will surely use!

Definitely first initial. I have had that since birth, I don't identify with my last initial at all even though I've been married for 20 years. I would find it odd to get something with a C on it, to be that is not me.

I often sign notes at work with just my first initial, so I'd definitely be fine with that on my bag.

First initial for me, too. I think it's really common for that kind of thing to just do your first initial. I just ordered a necklace where you chose a letter and it never even occurred to me to chose My last name intital.
