Do they differ on Location? What did you pay?
My son just got me the info to order and I'm hearing it's more expensive since we waited (graduates june 10) The website shows it as $75 But not sure if that's accurate due to timing, will call them later....

I honestly don't even remember, but I'm sure it was around that. All of the senior year stuff to pay for just kind of runs together after a while.

I don't remember exactly what we paid, $25 maybe. But we were told that if we didn't order in the 3 day window in February when the Company was at the school, we would have to pay 3 times as much, and pick it up in person.

ummmm, I don't remember paying for caps/gowns.. Do you all keep them? My kids got to keep their caps but not the gowns. Back when I went to school we couldn't keep caps or gowns.
Maybe I did pay and spaced it off... seems like there was so many misc fees to pay, maybe that was one of them.

Six years ago, my oldest DD had to pay $40 for her cap and gown for HS graduation. Cheap, flimsy gown, cap and tassel. Four years later, when she graduated from college, the cap and gown were free! And it was much, much better quality.
$75 seems awfully high to me.

we kept the caps, but just rented the gowns, I think. They were in our class colors (silver and lavender- nothing like the 1980s, lol!) but they were rented, not purchased.

I don't remember what we paid for DD but it was under $50. DS I don't remember paying anything. Two different schools.

I don't remember how much they were.
The boy's gown is hanging in my laundry room, waiting to be donated to the high school for a kid who can't afford one. I'm a bit late for that this year.

DS just graduated. We had to order a few months ago and I think we paid $30.

IIRC, it was $25 for us and we had to order way back around Christmas. The cap is ours to keep and the gown has to be returned.
By law in CA an option of a free cap & gown has to be offered with both being returned.

Ours was around $30, but that was for just the basics. You could spend a LOT more for a deluxe tassel, etc... Lame.

It was about $40 for the cap, gown, and tassel. But we ordered way back in October. AND they changed the cap design from 2 years ago. DD was all set to wear DS's old cap and gown (we had to get a larger cap for him and they told us to keep the old cap). But both the cap and gown style changed slightly. What a waste!

Ours is part of the package you can buy (announcements, etc), but I think if you only ordered the cap and gown, it was in the $75 range.
We bought them when I was in high school, too. For whatever reason, we still have Dh's.

Slightly off-topic but this seems like the perfect place to finally get an answer to this question I've been wondering about: do all pupils/students in the US do the cap and gown graduation ceremony? Is it also like that in Canada? Do you have to buy a mandatory cap and gown uniform from the school? (I've never had a graduation ceremony, whether in school or at uni. )

We don't pay for high school cap and gowns here and the graduates get to keep them. I think we paid $80 for the college version for both boys, at different schools.

Most high school students do participate in graduation. And maybe even close to all. If you are going to participate in the graduation ceremony you have to buy the cap/gown selected by the school. The school itself may or may not sell them so you may have to buy it from a specific vendor the school has selected like Herff-Jones.

(I've never had a graduation ceremony, whether in school or at uni. ) Some students have no interest in the ceremony and don't go, some have a conflict with work/sports or other event and choose that over the ceremony and some aren't allowed to participate for discipline and/or poor grades reasons. DS is graduating this year and the seniors had to complete a survey by the end of last week and if they didn't do it they were going to be banned from participating in the ceremony.

A neighbor gave us his cap and gown set from last year for DS. I thought I was going to be able to save a bunch of money as the set costs $50.
However, I needed to buy a required stole and tassel because they both have dates on them. Those two accessories cost $37!

I assume you are talking high school. My daughter just graduated May 5th from college, and hers was all free. The gown is really nice and even has a university patch sewn onto it. All of her cords and sashes were free also, and she does keep it all. Not sure if that goes for all colleges.

Our high school uses the same gowns year after year. My son had an 8th grade graduation and they were give a cap/gown and we got to keep them. Nothing out of pocket.
