The texture is just nasty to me.
I feel the same way about baked potato chips. Anyone with me, or am I just crazy?

Add me to the list. I tried it once any immediately tossed the box in the trash. Baked potato chips aren't terrible but I'm not going to purposely buy them.

I don't like it alone, but I like it ok if it's mixed with beans, rice, or lentils.

I don't like it either, but it's a taste thing, not a texture thing.

So I wonder, how much of liking a food is taste and how much is texture? Or does it depend on the person eating it?

I have issues with texture. There are foods I want to like because friends and family like them and I just can't get into them. Mushrooms being high on the list. I would love to love mushrooms like some people do. They just make me want to throw up. Texture is very high on the list!

It is OK for me. Not over the top, I love it, but not I hate it.. My internist told me to try quinoa and wild rice. We have and both like it.
I got the package from Sam's that cooks in 90 seconds in the microwave.

I hate baked potato chips and the only quinoa I like (so far) is the frozen from Trader Joe's...

I tried the quinoa mac n cheese recipe that was circling Facebook this winter. One bite and it all went in the trash. That was seriously disgusting. I have had it cold in some salads and liked it ok. But it's not my favorite.

Never had baked potato chips, but I couldn't eat quinoa without gagging and textures usually don't bother me.

Kale is a fucking scam...I kid.
I once had a friend who was trying to reduce weight say , " i had two slices of pizza. But with kale topping so it's all good"
And I thought, dude wtf difference does it make if your pizza was topped with kale or no kale. It's still pizza 🙄

I like kale. I really like the kale salad from Costco. And I like kale in soups and smoothies.
I've only had quinoa once, a few years ago, and if I remember correctly it wasn't too bad. But wow, it caused some intestinal issues for me. I haven't had it since then.

I love quinoa, but Dh is allergic so I use whole wheat couscous instead now. It's pretty similar nutritionally.
I love kale. Kale Cesar salad is sooo good. I also love that I can dress it and it doesn't wilt so good leftover. Because of that I make it a lot for company.
I dislike many things, though. I can't stand chewing gum. It smells gross, sounds gross, the idea of chewing something over and over and over is just disgusting.
Paige.

But wow, it caused some intestinal issues for me. I haven't had it since then. Â Maybe you ate it unrinsed. It needs to be rinsed to get the toxins off. Many brands are sold pre rinsed. We used to eat it at home all of the time. Then Dh ate it out once, unrinsed (unknown to him) and he had a violent reaction. It's the only time I've seen him come home sick from work. He thought he had the flu. But the next time I made him my quinoa at home he had the same reaction. Allergist said he has an intolerance to it now . It's too bad because on Passover it didn't count as a grain so it was a good sub for bread/rice/pasta/etc.

I have only cooked it once rinsed. It was horrible. I cook it straight no rinsing. I just have to get passed the idea that it looks like a bunch of tiny worms.

I've only had it alone and did not like it at all. I would like to give it one more chance though. I'll save you the trouble. I've tried it two more times and it still sucks! The kale salad at a local restaurant however, is awesome. Kale, sunflower seeds, cranberries and a lemony dressing with a piece of grilled salmon is heaven!

I don't mind it mixed in with something else like a salad but not in place of rice.
I have a recipe from Pinterest where you make a GF chocolate cake out of Cooked quinoa. Throw it all in a blender until it's puréed and then bake. Top it with a good icing and I love quinoa then. 😀
