Welcome, Courtney!! QUESTION: Was it a big adjustment moving from up northeast, to southwest??? I'm a New Yorker and DH and I moved down to FL 6 years ago. I swear, I never adjusted to it here. The temps landed me in the E.R. a few times, and there's just too much of a difference between both places. We're trying to move back up north (despite the massive snowstorms, etc...). QUESTION #2 (if I'm permitted to ask more than 1 question): Do you still have your family up in CT??? Do you miss them? Do you go see them?? Will they come to CA to see you (I'd imagine so, since it's so beautiful). Good luck in CA, and welcome to the 2Peas Refugees! I love LA in comparison to the Northeast. I don't think I'll ever move back! I still have family in CT. My parents and sister live there... but my parents will likely retire and move in the next 5 years. I went and visited them over Xmas and will see them again in August and likely Xmas again. They came to CA to visit in March and it was a lot of fun! My brother lives out here too, so it's nice they can come and visit both of us. That's great! I think that makes ALL of the difference in the world, if you're close with your family. I come from a closeknit, big Italian family, so moving down here and being isolated, stinks! I only see them every few years. No one wants to come down to FL, and it's hard for us to get up there...... I'm glad you're enjoying CA!! Best of luck to you.

Very important questions. Do you own any kitten heels? Do you feel strongly about them? Do you return your carts to the corral? Do you use crock pot liners? Are you a fan of cocoa nut oil? Have you ever eaten a cupcake off the sidewalk? Have you ever pooped in a pool? Do you have guest towels? Are guests allowed to use them? Shoes... inside or not? How you answer these questions, will determine your acceptance into the group. Dislike kitten heels! Yes I always put them in the corral in the parking lot I never use a crockpot Yes Coconut oil rocks for so many things! No off the sidewalk food Never pooped in a pool, but have peed tbh Duh to guest towels! Use them, not mine! I usually wear my shoes inside until I get to my bedroom then take them off You have been accepted. Level one pass. You may enter.

Plus do you wash your butt and bits with a washcloth, or do you just let water and soap suds run over it and call it good? Or do you blast the area with a shower head? This is an important Pea dividing line. Plus - Do you pee in the shower? How often do you change your towels? Can you write Haiku? Please answer all these questions in a Powerpoint presentation.SaveYou forgot to add 'quoting reputable and reliable sources'.

Hi, Courtney! Welcome to the most interesting spot on the internet. I've been reading for years & it never phases to entertain me. I'm a stay home wife with grown kids & 2 little grandsons that I provide daycare for. I will be 60 in Oct. I love dogs & have 2 doxies. This place never fails to make me laugh, teach me something, introduce me to other cultures & faiths... also on occasion makes me cry & bend a knee in prayer for someone I've never met in real life. Your time spent reading thisboard will not be wasted.

Welcome Courtney : ) Waving from Los Angeles by way of the East Coast (Manhattan). I came here by way of being a scrapbook poser (i.e. not particularly talented or committed). NSBR used to be a much more cut-throat place but it has mellowed through the years. I've learned a lot here about silly things like merkins (look it up at your own peril) and more serious things like overly zealous HOAs. I have a partner (aka husband), two daughters, a cat and a dog (both male). My neighborhood feels like suburbia to me, but my neighbor from Taos, NM was thrilled to be living in the city...so go figure. I try to like more than I post and ask questions Google can't answer. I am addicted to the "Everything but the Bagel" sprinkle from Trader Joe's and have been considering posting a thread about it. Do you live near the beaches? I wish I lived near the beaches! I chose my place because it's a mile from my office and I heard LA traffic is awful lol I want to move closer to the beaches and probably will in the next year. I'm realizing I'm only in the office like 2 days a week anyways!

Hi Courtney, glad you passed level one!
A few things to know...
1. Thrusdays are for drama, Thursdays are not.
2. Yes, this is Hotel California as someone already mentioned. If you do TRY to leave, don't do it quietly. The peas LOVE a good hair flip! We will even rate it!!
3. The Hoff may show up when threads get really long and off track (although I haven't seen him in a while).
4. We do occasionally "peatlejuice" people here, so beware if you start a thread talking about a real life person. Some have been good, others have ended with major family drama!!
Personally, I found two peas 15+ years ago through scrapbooking. I live in the South where y'all is spoken frequently and nothing is planned on Saturdays in the fall without first checking the football schedule!

Oh, you guys are all so cute! Peatlejuice is just the pea version of beetlejuice. You've been warned ... if you talk about someone in your family, a business owner, a celebrity, they may show up here to defend their honor. There are spies all over the place.

I'm realizing I'm only in the office like 2 days a week anyways! Good thinking. Under the right circumstances, one mile can take 45 minutes. Just try Bundy & Olympic during rush hour. Or Sunset Blvd in Brentwood when schools let out. The traffic is nuts here. Mind you, I-95 in Connecticut is pretty lousy too. SaveSaveSaveSave

Welcome to the pod! I am a South African pea in Johannesburg. I am much older than you but would not re-live my 20's/ 30's for any money. My 40's- I would go back if I could! There used to be between 5 and 10 South African peas on the old board and a few came over to the new but I think I am the only one who still posts regularly over here Maybe the others will pop in to prove me wrong- I hope so. If you have not already done so, I suggest you go to the main screen and find the sub-board called "History of the Peas". You are in for a treat reading there but you will need to have plenty of time to kill. Don't be reading there with a mouthful of any beverage if you value your device's screen You have had great advice and a couple of gentle-ish warnings from the pod already; I was not as bold as you in that I didn't introduce myself and neither did I ask for help. I lurked a lot and posted a little bit. When I was a couple of months in but with a low post count, I used some sacred-cow pea phrase (wrongly and in an unfunny manner, as it turned out) and I got blasted and accused of being a troll purely because of the aforesaid low post count not because of the wrongness or lack of humour, BTW. I went back to lurkdom for ages after that. If the "History of the Peas" section had existed at that time maybe I would have known better. Again, Welcome to the board, see ya on the threads. ETA: about those pop-ups that prompted your thread: I seem to have lost my notifications. Anyone else had this? Is it a Proboards thing or on my side? I get my likes but a bookmarked thread with lots of new entries I read a few minutes ago came coincidentally to my notice- I did not get the normal notification in the top row of the home page

Welcome. I was around your age, maybe younger, when I joined. In case you're wondering, NSBR stands for Not Scrapbook Related. It took me forever to figure tgat out. Just know we don't forget. Anything. If you're rude, you will be on someone's shit list, possibly forever. Most peas here prefer anonymity because some peas keep literal spreadsheets on your life. It has happened that vengeful peas have tracked people down here and contacted their employers, child protective services, etc. You've been warned. Anyway, welcome.

Hey Courtney welcome. I have a granddaughter named Courtney, today is her 21st birthday actually. She lives with my grandson and son in Phoenix. I'm from a little city known for cars and Motown. And I love Cali. My other son lives in San Francisco, left my heart there the first time I visited.
Must love dogs, I have 2 shih-tzus. They are my heart.
Welcome to the pod. Unless you don't mind spending money, stay away from all the threads that say look what I got on Amazon or I just love my new instant Pot or anything that has to do with a wonderful new product they found. I'm a sucker and pretty much bought them all. If a pea likes it, then it has to be good. You've been warned.

Welcome Courtney! I'm a native Angeleno now living in the Midwest by way of the rest of the world. If you're curious, you should check out the scrapbooking board. You're young and you won't realize how much you forget about your young life until you're over 50 like me and wishing you had documented those years. Now it's all a blur with very few photos.
You'll need a thick skin to survive some NSBR topics. Just know that I'm not a grudge holder nor a spreadsheet keeper. I can disagree with your point of view without thinking you're a horrible person or calling you names. Some people here can't do that, especially on the political threads. But in general, this a great place to get various views on all topics from people from all over the world. Also, when the peas agree, believe it.
Welcome to the pod!

Plus do you wash your butt and bits with a washcloth, or do you just let water and soap suds run over it and call it good? Or do you blast the area with a shower head? This is an important Pea dividing line. Some of us are still straddling that line - ahem - and refused to answer this question on the grounds that it's none of anyone's damn business.

welcome to the pod! cool to see how people "find" us!! i am a canadian and stumbled across the old board when i was scrapbooking (eldest child has 4 giant books documenting her every move, youngest has 4 individual pages....). when that company closed, the site went down. somehow i received a message saying "this is the new board".... but there was a scathing response from many well-known peas questioning the agenda of whomever had started the new board. THEN i got another note and found this site that our lovely admin manages for us so well! my only tip, read what you post kinda carefully. apparently there can be a LOT implied/assumed when you are not clear! lol!

Also, if you post something and have to go out and can't come back to your thread for a few hours, there may be trouble. There might not be, though. You can't take that chance. You may have to defend yourself. Or you might not. It depends.
Thrusday is holy and sacred and it is to be respected. Oh wait no. Not Thrusday. If you have your own personal drama post on Thursday and see what happens. You've been warned. It gets interesting.
