I am confused, Scrapbook.com shows it is in stock? I thought they could not release it?

There's a thread here with links to other threads too 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/60591/consolidating-stamp-positioner-threads-rightBut to summarize, Tonic made small changes (perhaps just a change to the ruler placement?) to their design and manufactured a new batch that aren't subject to the lawsuit. The original version is still for sale overseas, but the new modified US model is now/almost shipping locally. I don't know if anyone has the modified US version yet, but a lot of us got the original/overseas version and LOVE it.

Yes, I purchased the oversees version as well, I just can's see any difference it must be quite a small change.

Yeah, what I heard was that the rulers no longer touch/meet in the corner. I haven't looked at the US one - I paid a LOT to ship that thing over from the UK - I'm not sure I want to see the local price!

All of the pictures at Scrapbook.com are of the old version except the main image. Zoomed in you can see where the rulers don't meet in the corner, but all the close up shots are of the black rulers coming together at the corner.
ETA: SSS has much better pictures. Amazing that such a small change is all that it took to avoid the lawsuit.

I had pre-ordered one from A Cherry on Top & just received an email this morning that they will be arriving at their warehouse next week. They will begin shipping as soon as they arrive in the order that the orders were placed.

I hope that those pictures are accurate and that is the only change as it seems such a small thing to have to change. Annoying that they can't meet but whatever.

I have the one from the U.K. where the rulers meet. It doesn't affect anything really. Maybe the non meeting one is better because you can see where the ruler starts more clearly because of the contrast of the grey plastic at the edge of the ruler. I never pay any attention to the rulers anyway.

I just got an email from Scrapbook.com announcing that they have platforms in stock and discounted yay! but I noticed the photo they were using was of the original rulers-touching version! oops. Not that anyone but us would notice... but you'd think they would have used the updated model photos. The rulers touching vs not touching seems to be an entirely cosmetic difference. I just looked at my (original model) platform and the rulers are embedded behind the plastic that you actually use to butt the paper against in the corner (does that make sense?). I think the continuous line of black looks nicer but it doesn't seem to matter one bit to the use of the thing (thank goodness). My guess is that the patent for the misti specifically mentioned the rulers meeting in the corner. I'm pretty sure it's all to do with how you break down the product features and components and describe them on paper. If the material is different or the configuration is slightly different then it's not considered to be the same product. I don't think it matters whether the changes actually contribute to the usefulness or not.
