Is all this for $40 a good deal?

I think so if it works well as long as it's the actual Fitbit in there

I would go for it. I paid about $60 just for the simplest little FitBit Zip and there are no accessories or anything for that one, plus it doesn't track your sleep.

I wound up getting it. Not a bad deal. Can see possibly upgrading in the future. Curious how it tracks/monitors sleep? And to track steps do i need to do anything once I've set it up? I have the flex...
Thanks!

Just wonder if i have to go into the app and "start sleep" or will it detect if I fall asleep and not set it? No idea never used one before

No idea never used one before it detects when you stop moving in an awake way for a certain time and then goes back 20 minutes or something and starts counting from there. I don't know how accurate it is, but mine tracks light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep, plus time awak during the night. If you are laying on the couch or getting a massage or something it may think you are sleeping

If you are laying on the couch or getting a massage or something it may think you are sleeping I have a Garmin and it's similar. Even though it's water resistant, I take it off when I shower, and it always thinks I've gone to sleep. LOL. With mine, there's a button on mine (that I normally press to sync) that I hold longer and tell it I'm going to sleep. It also had me set normal sleep hours when I set up the program on my computer, so I think that if I forget, it sort of defaults to interpreting the data in those hours, although I think it can also tell if I'm awake-moving vs. sleep-moving. I am certain it has to do with movement, since in your very deep sleep, you will be still. Mine tracks light sleep, deep sleep, and awake time. It's generally pretty accurate, and I am often surprised at my "awake" periods that I don't remember!

That Fitbit is discontinued now and I wouldn't be surprised if the app stops supporting it soon, I wouldn't buy it IMO. I work for a company that sells Fitbits and other fitness trackers and we've long since ditched the Flex.

So far I like it. I can definitely see upgrading to a little better one down the line. Not sure how accurate the sleep is. If this is true why am I tired? Lol

If you don't mind, I'm going to use your thread to ask a fitbit question. Bare in mind, I know nothing about fitbits.
I have a friend that says her's tells her what her heart rate is. Is there a certain fitbit that does this and how accurate is it? I need something to keep track of my heart rate. I have a heart condition that causes me to have a high resting rate. I've started working out and notice that my heart feels like it's going to beat out of my chest. We don't stop during the workout, so I can't really check it manually until we are done. I'd love to know what it's actually doing during the workout.
I don't really care about steps or calories as I'm not trying to loose any weight.

With the flex if you tap it multiple times it goes onto sleep mode (the light blinks twice). When you wake up tap it multiple times and it wakes up. I use my sleep monitoring as a basic average. I don't think it is all that scientific but I definitely noticed a difference pre gym and now that I go to the gym daily.

You are better to get a myzone hrm if you want to keep track of that. It sits right under your bra along your chest. I wouldn't trust the fitbit one as it isn't in direct contact for a proper count. All the gyms around here and my trainer use the myzone. It emails you the tracking and tells you where you were rated and what % you were in. I borrowed my trainers for a couple of weeks and it is amazing to see the difference between the treadmill hr count and the actual with the myzone monitor.
Just my opinion of course.

Sounds like you got a good deal! Fitbit customer support was great to work with when I had a problem with my Charge HR. When their troubleshooting attempts didn't work they sent me a brand new device. No need to send the other one back.

My sister also has health issues with a high resting HR. Her cardio doctor actually recommended the Fitbit Charge HR (new one is Charge 2, Alta 2 also does HR) for being pretty accurate and easy to wear all the time. She's been wearing hers for over 2 years now and it shows a pretty accurate HR reading all the time. I also have one and really enjoy being able to see my HR while working out - so easy to look at because it's on your wrist. My gym sells and promotes the MyZone but you can only see it on your app or if your gym has TV screens that connect in that room (mine does). Save
