So....we bit the bullet and bought a 2016 Corolla with 9500 miles on it. The only thing is no back up camera and no elec seats. With hubby working at the dealership eons ago, our salemans being an ex LEO and the LEO discount we walked away with a purchase price of 12500...taxes, tags, title, fees and a warranty we shook out at 15800. We chose this for price and the thought that it will end up being our youngest daughters car. Thank you for all of your help. Our plan is to pay it off by next Thanksgiving and go buy a 4-runner then. Thank goodness for hubby being an instrctor, our 4runner fund is what he is calling it. Go enjoy your weekend!
ladies, I totaled my beloved 4runner. I loved my Toyota in the 11 years and 215,000 miles it only had basic maintenance and the resale is really good. Toyota holds its own
So after much talk, we had planned on buying a new 4runner late next year but the bank sign had other plans. Due to us not wanting a large car payment(we are putting 10k down and only wanting to finance no more than 10k, we can pay that off in a year) we have decided to go with a sedan...Camry, Corolla, Avalon one Of the Toyotas that is not a truck or SUV. Then next fall we will have the down payment we had planned on and go buy a newer 4-runner and have the "Camry-Corolla...." paid off. So my question is tell me what Toyota non SUV/Truck/Crossover do you have ...do you love it or hate it? Also what extras did you get that you love or wished you hadn't got?
Thanks y'all for any information.

Not on your list but I'm somewhat obnoxious when it comes to my beloved Prius. I drive about 40,000 miles a year and, with the Prius, I get about 60 MPG. It looks small but everyone comments about how roomy it actually feels. On your list, I have always liked Camry's. I like the size and feel of it. I am a loyal Toyota owner!

I have no clue (only Toyota we've owned was a 4Runner, which we liked).
But are you ok?

I just this week bought my first Toyota - a Venza wagon. I shopped for it for a long time. They last made them in 2015. I got a 2015 with 95, yes 95 miles on it. It had never been sold by the dealership - they had it as a company car. I love everything about this car. It has tons of leg room. The storage in the rear is very large. It is based on the Camry so it drives like a car, but you sit a bit higher. The leg room in the rear is really generous because the style could have had third row seating but it doesn't so all that room goes into the passenger and cargo areas.
They stopped making Venzas because people who would like this style preferred the RAV4. RAV4 sales are through the roof and it left the Venza in the dust.
I paid just about $21K for my vehicle with 1.5% interest rate for 4 years. There are Venzas available with very few miles on them if you are at all interested in a car like this. There is one in my area XLE with 9K miles.

We have two 2009 Toyotas. A Camry that has almost 200,000 miles, and a Highlander with over 200,000. Both with only regular maintenance. I get your love of Toyotas. We love the Camry.

Another Toyota fan here. I am sorry you lost your beloved 4Runner and hope your are OK. The Venza is awesome if you can find one. Every time I think about when we sold ours I get mad at myself. We should have held on to it. It was roomy, rode well, had great performance - I mean it was a Toyota and would have made a great car for my teen. We needed a truck and went with the Tundra Crew Max. I think a Venza would be a GREAT option for you. Not quite a 4Runner but I think you will like it better than a sedan. I found it very hard going from sitting high up in an SUV then going down to a lower sitting sedan. I disliked it so much I traded a Camry after driving it for only a year and moved to the Venza. Look into a Certified Used Toyota. You may be able to find a 4Runner that meets this year's financial goals and still be able to buy a new Toyota next year. Certified Used Toyotas keep many of the same "rights and benefits" as new Toyotas. You get a higher factory warranty than other used cars and can buy the extended warranty. You get Toyota financing options that other used cars do not get. That's the route we took when we bought my daughter's Prius and we have been extremely happy. Start with this website to search for Certified Toyota Used cars. Input your zip code and search radius and viola! I found five Venza's and one 4Runner in the DFW area for $20K or less with anywhere from 15K to 55K miles. The 4Runner had high mileage but you may find something in your region with lower mileage. www.toyotacertified.com/Good luck!

I love Toyota. If you can stretch it go for camry over the other two. DH is a mechanic and the camry is the best made of the 3. You might also look into the lexus es series. Those are well made too

For my life I would choose a Camry over a corolla. Better comfort. Our spare car for years was an old corolla but it is a pretty small car, we gave it to a family member and she is a small person who fits in it just right but for our big crew it's too small. If you are small or your family is small you can't go wrong with the corolla for value though.

I bought mine used from Hertz Auto Sales. It was a too good of a deal to pass up. It came with the remainder of the Toyota warranty and a Hertz warranty. You might be able to find one in your price range, unless you want brand new. I have a friend who owns the hybrid Camary and loves it.

Oh, I loved my Corolla! I had it 15 years, 150,000 miles and sold it to my brother about 6 years ago to buy a Rav 4. It still runs well.

I had a 2001 Camry with 120,000 miles and very little rust. I gave that to DS.
I drive a 2014 Corolla for work and I really like it. I am going back to teaching in the fall and needed to buy a car. I really considered a Corolla. I've had such good luck with the Camry and this Corolla. I ended up going with a Jetta but I would still recommend the Corolla.

I owned a 1989 Toyota Camry. A 2003 Toyota Corolla. And currently own a 2013 Toyota Sienna. I have loved all 3.
The Camry has more leg room than the corolla BUT the corolla had awesome trunk space. The kids were growing and we needed more room than a Camry so we got the sienna.
To me the Prius is too small and the trunk space is very limited. Same with the Rav4.

We like Toyota. We have a Prius and a hybrid Yaris. I have no idea about truck type cars. They are too large to be practical where I live. But our Toyotas have been really reliable.

Not on your list but I bought a Yaris sedan after going to the dealership with the intention of purchasing a Corolla. I did test drive both vehicles and found the Yaris to be more comfortable and spacious than the Corolla. Plus, the handling during the test drive on the Yaris was a lot better to me. The Corolla was more difficult to handle (turning radius, touchy brakes, etc). Like most Toyotas I've only had to do minimal maintenance to my Yaris and it's an extremely dependable vehicle. So even though it isn't on your list it might worth checking into.

I loved loved loved my Avalon. Quiet as all get out. Drove like a dream. Loads of trunk space and even with the front seats all the way back, a 6 ft tall person could comfortably sit.
Only downside, my friends made fun of me for driving an old man car.
We were going to get a Venza last year, but dh fell in love with the Acura RDX.

What about the Toyota CHR? I just bought this exact one and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! Today it's at the service department for window tint and they put me in a Corolla for the day. My CHR feels like a car, but slightly higher like a small SUV. I don't like how low the Corolla is when getting in and out (I have two knee replacements and a hip replacement). I sold my 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk (too many problems and almost out of warranty) to get the CHR. I didn't think my Jeep was on the big side, but parked next the CHR it was. Priced reasonably at $23K and we got a 7-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.

I love my 2013 Prius. It replaced my 2007 Prius. Very good fuel economy and reliability and much roomier than you'd think.

No specific advice, but we are a Toyota family (and extended family) I drive a van, but will hopefully be getting a highlander in a few years. We also have 2 trucks. My mom drives a RAV 4 (along with many other uncles and aunts), but she also still has her Camry that is old I want to say like it's a 1995. And that thing runs like a top - she doesn't use it much, still loves it. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I have a co-worker who lover her Corolla. I need to be able to sit up higher so I will never go back to a car - will need a SUV of some sort.

I have a 2008 Yaris - 175,000 miles and very few small repairs - air bag recall, a tire sensor and other than that just maintainance....but it's interior is small. I'm 5'4" so it doesn't bother me, but my DH is 5'9" and he finds it terribly uncomfortable to drive. It has a lot more trunk space than you would think and we can fit 3 in the back seat but my DH would definitely not buy it again. I love it - tiny turn radius, great power for its size and I find it very comfortable.

We are a Toyota family. I currently have a 2017 RAV but someone in the family has had most of the models at one time or another. I think the Corollas are cute but prefer a bigger model like the Camry or Avalon as far as sedans go. I was a Prius owner previously and loved it too, but prefer to sit higher. The mileage was a dream though! We drove it cross country. My husband is a big guy and was very comfortable. Good luck!

Our 2008 Corolla is an awesome car. We've only had one repair on it when we replaced the alternator. We needed a long term reliable car for DH to drive thru city traffic and it's held up beautifully thru Michigan winters. We plan to give it to our kids and replace it soon.

If you get a prius, take it on the interstate and make sure it is capable of going over 55 miles per hour. I have NEVER seen one that did, and I'm not sure if it's an issue with the car,or with every single person I have ever seen driving one.

Avalon all the way! I'm on my second one. It rides like a dream. I get 28-30 MPG; depending on driving conditions. The interior is extremely roomy, and the trunk is huge. I've only got 115,000 on my current one, but whenever I need a car next, it will be another Avalon.
