I am a radio person. I tried satellite but found that I always reverted back to my favorite local stations.
I also had more problems losing the satellite signal than with my regular radio stations. This was probably fixable but I just never used it enough to make it a priority.
As a side question: how do you find/hear new music and artist?

I have SiriusXM. I cannot tolerate the regular radio. The commercials scratch on my nerves. That said, I'm not sure how much longer I will keep satellite either. I use Apple CarPlay most of the time to play stuff off of Spotify. And to answer your second question, i play a lot of "discover new music" playlists on Spotify to find new-to-me music.

Old school radio. I like hearing the local events & traffic reports, the contests, & the radio personalities, especially since many of them are still the ones I was listening to as a teen! Maybe when they all retire (which seriously must be coming up sooner rather than later given my age) I'll find it loses some of its charm, but really, a few of my old favorites have already moved on (or in some cases, passed away ) and I have begun to enjoy the younger folks who have started in their places, so maybe I'll just have new radio personalities that I find fun & charming instead. I wasn't sure how to vote so I did "other". I am probably 50/50 old school radio and podcasts. On my long work commutes I usually listen to podcasts, but when doing short errands and such I listen to the regular radio.

Old school radio.
I'll never be able to justify paying for a subscription for anything in the car.
If there's nothing on I have no problem just turning it off and driving in silence.
I don't listen to any talk. Only music. If all the stations go to commercials or talk at the same time I just turn it off.
I can't listen to talk (podcasts, audio books, talk radio) in the car. It makes me motion sick.

I had XM in my car for a while but I just stream Pandora now. My pandora stations are really well developed so I always like what I'm listening to.
I do listen to the news on the radio during my morning commute though. Always NPR.

Thanks for the response. I think I am low tech and mostly lazy. I want to be spoon feed everything. I like learning about things happening, local musicians, along with hearing a variety of special programming all in one place. I set it and while listening I can catch up on things going on, new places in the area, local charity info and events, hear interviews with musicians playing in the area, etc. I love a variety of music genres and love hearing new artist and music. I think I would really like the "discover new music" type playlists. I may have to look into that.

Neither. I listen to CDs in my van. I keep a case of CDs and I rotate them frequently. I would rather listen to what I want to listen to

Old school radio. Have a 10 minute (or less) commute to work, mostly listen to NPR or local "old country" station. However, just bought a new, slightly used Hyundai Tucson, so may try Sirius, at least for the Beatles Station!!!

I won't pay to listen to music...so totally old school here. Honestly if I want to listen to music with no commercials I just plug in my phone and listen to my playlist. I'm just way to cheap...LOL

Neither. I listen to CDs in my van. I keep a case of CDs and I rotate them frequently. I would rather listen to what I want to listen to I will also listen to CDs often. My last car had a 5 CD player and I could load it up and usually find one that I wanted to listen to. Now with just a single CD player I more often grab one or two that I want to listen to and bring them with me. I did ask for a MP3 player many years ago, and I do have that with the ONE album that I loaded onto it in my car also.

We have SiriusXM in my husband's vehicle and it is nice for long road trips. I don't have it in my car. I listen strictly to NPR around town and play music or podcasts off my iPhone for long trips. I just don't think I would use satellite radio enough to justify the cost.

I don't like the commercials but can't justify the expense of satellite radio for the little time I am in the car by myself these days. I usually have a parent or husband with me who don't like to listen to what I like so the radio is off most of the time.

Satellite. I can hardly stand when the satellite radio dj talks between songs so regular radio has way too much non-music time for my taste. For the rare times we don't have satellite radio, we listen to Ipod playlists.

I voted Satellite, but it probably should have been *other* because I jump between local radio and satellite stations. I actually *like* the morning DJs on the local hard rock station, so I switch between that, NPR, and two or three different Sirius XM stations.
My commute is about an hour one-way-- depending on my mood, I'll listen to NPR, MSNBC, Progress, Caliente (latin music), Hair Nation, Ozzy's Boneyard, the local NPR station, the local classical station, etc. during my commute.
One Sirius XM station that I love is Radio Classics, old-time radio shows, like The Shadow, Gunsmoke, Our Miss Brooks, Johnny Dollar, etc. My favorites are the detective stories.
ETA: I don't listen to a lot of current pop music, so I don't *find* that. Unless I hear something new on the hard rock station that I like. But I don't buy music on iTunes, or use Spotify, or pay for Pandora, or use any other services like that. I don't listen to music often enough for doing any of that.

I cancelled my satellite radio because I literally never listen to it. I stream pandora on my phone or I listen to podcasts. I make frequent trips to Dallas (five hours each way) and I like my customized pandora stations. I have a couple stations that are all about current music so when I have pandora on shuffle, it serves me up new things to discover.

I think I explained myself on the original thread. I am not interested in today's pop music and I've heard Stairway to Heaven enough for twenty lifetimes. In the event that even though I have 15 Sirius presets and there's still nothing on, I stream premium versions of Pandora or Spotify. Music is everything to me and that's one of the places I spend money.

I'd say 50/50 between SiriusXM vs. my own music or streaming. Commercial radio is too much for me. The obnoxious commercials and the limited playlists are not for me.

I'm too cheap to pay for radio. Radio is free. Commercials pay for it. I'm not about to expend money in radio.
When DH bought his car 5 y are ago it came with 1 year satellite radio and it had commercials. If you have advertisers paying you WTF should I?
I mean DS's Spotify on his phone has commercial free playlists so if I really want something I'll play that.
