Restlessspirit you are right-without a great organizer this wouldn't be possible or go off so wonderfully without a hitch. So let's here it for Leowife! Hip, Hip, Hooray!!!

For my anniversary this month I ordered some Tim Holtz stuff in anticipation of Halloween and Christmas cards this year.

I was just looking through my Christmas papers and thinking of starting them. Since I start and never have time to finish them all and I end up going out buying some.

I've got a handful of cards made for the swap already - maybe 15. I always have great plans to get them done early, and to make so many per month...yeah, that never happens! I did manage to get cards made for my grandmother, and helped my mom with hers already, so that's a couple things off of my mental to-do list. I found an awesome card to scrap-lift for my personal cards, and bought inks and a stamp set for that clear back in May! Just need to sit down and actually get them done. I have a separate crafting room, and am able to leave everything set out if I choose (who am I kidding, that's most of the time lol). In the past I've found that I am most productive if I can just pop in for 10-15 minutes at a time and work once or twice a day. I've sadly fallen out of that habit, and I really need to get back to it. Maybe this thread can help serve as my motivation to get back to it!

I'm not going to sign up this year. Sorry but I totally flaked last year. My apologies to everyone and thanks to those who sent me cards. If I can manage it, I'll send to some of the names from last year's list, but I don't want anyone to send me cards because I am undeserving. My problem isn't cards ... I have plenty and enjoy making them. My problem is the freakin' arthritis in my hands that makes it hard for me to hand-write addresses. grrrrrr ...

I've never participated but I think I will this year. I was going through all my cards last week and have an over-abundance of Christmas cards from years past. This will be perfect! lucyg I type labels up in a word template and print them on the sticker labels. For both TO and FROM. So much easier!

I've got my stamp set picked out. I need to find a paper that I like.
I'm definitely going to be on the list.

Ugh. My iPad won't let me quote. LucyG! Hand address envelopes. What are you, crazy!? . That's what labels are for! In previous years there have been kind and generous RefuPeas that formatted the list for Avery labels. There have also been participants that printed the list, trimmed and then taped the addresses to the envelopes. Both ways worked great. Seriously, I don't handwrite my addresses. (Or return adress label -I make those on my computer.) I try to hand sign all of them, but I have De Quervain's tenosynovitis which can be very painful. I've even contemplated buying a signature stamp. I'm having a lot of pain recently that even makes using my iPad and computer uncomfortable. I'm going to do what I have to do to be able to get my cards out. Getting old is so not fun. As a previous participant, I encourage everyone to join no matter what your ability. Even my usually bah-humbug DH gets a kick out of seeing all the cards I get.

I'm excited for this to happen again! I've bought the stamp I want to use and have the blank cards stockpiled. Now to actually make them.
Last year I didn't send more than a handful, I felt so guilty when I received so many. This year, everyone will get one from me!
I didn't realize how much I missed receiving Christmas cards until they start arriving every year.
Thanks for organizing it!!!

I planned better this year. Last year I only got to send out 50 cards. This year, I already have that many cards and stamps ready.

Don't send me one, because I'm pretty sure you sent me one last year and I owe you already!! All of you are nice and have great ideas for me. I actually used to print address labels, but my old PC died, and I didn't replace it since I use the iPad almost exclusively. I got the Avery app last year BUT I couldn't figure out how to import the list. I guess I could probably google that, right? There's also an iMac in the house but I never use it, either, not sure what kind of word processing it even has. And then I want to write personal notes to everyone and I end up doing nothing instead. So I'm just going to focus on trying to make up for last year right now.

I shared a file for pre-printed address labels. I loved seeing handwriting on the envelopes I received but the labels made things easier and faster for me (and it was fun to see the labels on the cards I received!). I sent to everyone on the list and did not count how many I got...but I received a lot and it was so fun to both create and send the cards as well as come home to happy mail! Leowife- thanks for taking the lead on this- and I am very open to helping you in any way I can this year. I am happy to set up labels again for those interested!a My preparation so far....buying stamps and pretty papers-- LOL! A few ideas in my head and I did start to color a few stamped images. I will start to buy books of postage stamps in September- a book or 2 at a time does not seem so overwhelming to the pocketbook!

I've been thinking about it and need to start collecting ideas and supplies. I'm having foot surgery the first of October and will be pretty much stuck upstairs for 2 full weeks, and then in a walking cast (but unable to drive) for another 6-8 weeks after that. I'll have PLENTY of time, provided I get everything together before then!

who has started planning or even thinking about it? Yes I have been thinking about it. I ordered some "Aussie Christmas" themed address labels a couple of months ago. (Now I just need to remember where the heck I put them!!)

For anyone who's thinking about doing it...do it, you will regret it seeing all of us post about it. I must stress sign up during the sign-up! It becomes a cluster to add you after the sign-up closes. So a FYI sign up during sign ups. Thank you for the kind words but we wouldn't have a swap if y'all didn't support it:)

so there is a list and people send out cards to any/all the folks on the list just with a holiday greeting?

although the idea of 120 cards is a bit intimidating!!! You don't have to send to everyone. Just do what you can if you participate. The first year I think I only got half the list. Last year I had work, school, and some unexpected health stuff happen in December. I think I only sent 25 cards. Getting a head start this year.

Yep, you send handmade or store bought cards and you get the same in return. 120 seems overwhelming but it's not bad, get started now. My wall is filled with so much joy for December and my family and friends ohhh and ahhh over it. Do as many as you can. I believe I got 98 last year and I sent to the whole list. I love it....what I love the most is opening the mailbox from a rough day and have one in box waiting for me....instant smile. A couple Pea's made me tear up last year....man I'm getting soft in my old age;)

Hi I seND out the list to everyone who signed up. You choose how many/who to send to and viola....your mailbox fills with joy. They can be handmade or store bought. I believe last year we had 120 and about 20 were international. I totally thought we were suppose to send to everyone on the list. It kept me from signing up in the past. Also I felt like they had to be homemade, which with the number of participants made me break out in hives at the thought 🤣. Maybe this year I'll actually sign up.

I still have the red telephone booth card that Jenny sent hanging on my bulletin board in my kitchen. It's so cute. I also use an envelope by someone as a bookmark. The sender escapes me. She did really pretty calligraphy. It's packed currently as we are moving in the next few weeks.
We loved getting the cards last year.

For the past 2 years, the cards were my main Christmas decor, as I was not able to get my regular decor out, and just didn't have room for my regular stuff, either. This year I'll be able to get more of my other stuff out, but still plan on using my received cards extensively. I will probably use them in place of most of my ornaments. I've never even considered making my own cards. The first year I participated I'm not sure I actually sent any cards out. The next year I sent to part of the list, and I think I sent to all last year. I make sure to send internationally to encourage them to send me one back (though I don't keep track of who actually does send or not.) I just like the idea of them being international, and have gotten some different kinda cards. Because they tend to be smaller, they also fit into my layout well.

I am in the same boat as lucyg - life got stupid & I flaked in sending last year. I thought I'd sign up & make up for it by sending to everyone. My problem last year wasn't making the cards - I have a LOT of cards. It was getting organized to get to the post office, because of the wet weather & Seasonal Affect Disorder issues. If I get stuck that way again this year, I'll give my cousin $$ and ask her to mail for me; she is working at the post office now.

Sounds fun, but I don't know if I could make 120 cards! Maybe my kiddo would have fun helping. What kinds of things do you write on the insides of the cards?
