For the Christmas Card swap? Anyone planning already...I have been doing a couple here and there. Got about 40 done. Sign-ups will be the beginning of October. So am I alone, who has started planning or even thinking about it?

Haven't done much planning, but looking forward to it!! And this year I won't be consumed with my dogs breed Nationals. So that's a huge plus for me!!

Can you tell me how your swap works? I have done another online swap for the last couple of years and really enjoyed it. I don't know that I have time for two but I have been making a few cards.

I had great plans to make ten or twelve cards every month this year. So far I've made two...

Me! I bought some cards the day after Christmas last year so I won't stress as much this year about making all of them!

Me! I'm really hoping to make some cards this year instead of buying them. I got so many beautifully handmade cards last year and the years I've participated previously. So far this year in preparation I've bought the Tim Holtz stamp platform (should make things much easier) and I think I've picked out the stamp I'm planning to use (unless I find a better one). I haven't made any cards yet (darn migraines are really kicking my butt this time of year with all of the thunder storms we've been having). For now I'll continue planning out my design and gathering the materials. I'm really excited. My sweet sister who is my best friend bought me the 150 Prismacolor Premier color pencil set for my birthday so I'm all set for coloring materials. Oh, and I ordered the Zest It blending solution from the UK so I don't have to use mineral spirits which contribute to headaches with it's strong fumes. Just gathering the supplies is fun in it's own way. I've been stamping for years, but I haven't tried the blending technique yet and the Prismacolor set I had before was limited to 48 pencils. I'll have to practice a lot first.

YES! I am so excited. Those of you who participated in the swap last year may remember that I asked for the cards to be sent to my mom. Looking at the cards together was the highlight of her chemo sessions. She still has them strung up in her room so she can see them all the time. The holidays can be difficult when you are ill, and I truly feel like those cards gave her a much needed emotional boost. She loved telling everyone about the cards she was receiving and showing them to the nurses. Unfortunately, the chemo isn't working anymore, but my mom is a fighter, so we are staying positive. I have already made quite a few cards and she is looking forward to seeing what comes in the mail. Thank you leowife for organizing again this year!

Even with one of those platforms I somehow always manage to eff it up. 😞 Have you tried the new Tim Holtz platform? I swear by Tim Holtz tools. Somehow he designs tools that work better than anything else out there on the market. If you stamp at all you might want to give it a try. I'd suggest ordering from a place that offers returns-that way if it doesn't work for you, you can return it. I got mine from scrapbook.com Also choice of paper and ink play into successful stamping too. I've been using any kind of paper and not having much success at all lately, although in the past when I used better paper it made a huge difference. I'm planning to order some paper from ginakdesigns.com and I've heard that Neenah super smooth classic crest is also a great paper. For inks I've always been partial to the Tsukineko brand. They make Memento Ink and several others.

I told myself that I would not make cards this year and instead purchase them. But, I am reconsidering. Making handmade cards is so much fun and I even have a MISTI that should help. I already have some Christmas cards made that were samples we did in classes this past two years, so I might as well use them. See? I am already making bargains about it with myself. I have to start getting stamps for this as I can't afford them all at the same time. But, I am making plans and look forward to it.

I'm ready - I did the Christmas in July card swap which was fun, and I will probably make the same card cos it looked so pretty (according to my crop mates) and add in another design....this is so fun! I'm finally using all the Christmas stamps and dies I have purchased over the years.
Scrappinmom3 - there are some peas who send to everyone on the list, so I don't believe anyone would get NO cards at all......

Almost all do the whole list, but yes there is always that potential. I've done it for several years and have never had that issue.

I'm ready! (Well, mentally ready, just not ready-ready) LOL.
I had a few Christmas cardmaking 'fails' for the Christmas in July exchange and received very lovely cards in exchange. Such a nice way to get encouragement and inspiration.
I've participated in the 2Peas Refugees exchange for 3 years (I think).
This has been my experience:
It's a very low-pressure, just for fun event. As others have mentioned, I think the list was about 120. I received about 86 or so.
The rules in the past? There are none!
Send purchased cards, handmade cards or even photo cards.
International RefuPeas are welcome to join in.
How many cards to send? As many or few as you wish. Some send to all, some set a limit. It's all good. No hard feelings - just Christmas cards and lots of joy.
Your address will only be sent to those participating in the exchange. Some participants use PO Boxes or work addresses. Some only use their RefuPea board names for privacy reasons. Do what ever makes you comfortable.
I send out to everyone. I buy my postage stamps (except international), cardstock, ink, rubberstamps, etc as throughout the year. I also purchase Christmas cards after Christmas so I can make as many cards as I can, but have cards to send everyone.
Many thanks to our organizer, Leowife. Without a great organizer, this exchange would not be possible. I appreciate the effort that goes into making a fun exchange!

Nope, nope, nope. I'm not at at all ready! I know the reality is it will be here before we know it but I'm so not there mentally yet. I've loved when I have joined in in the past but I dunno, maybe I'll skip it this year.
