It's not as though his impending blindness will impact his reading of the Daily Intelligence briefing or books or actual news beyond the Fox & Friends chyrons. I suppose it will make it easier for his staff to present him with photos that they can claim are flattering so that's one positive outcome for them.

We saw that on the live coverage. It really does sound like a headline from the Onion.

oh for christ's sake - I was eclipsing today and anyone could have snapped the same picture of me. I looked upwards several times during the approach process, and also used my glasses. Doesn't everyone look up every now and again?
I'm no fan of this idiot, but I swear, the coverage surrounding him has become almost laughable. People.com story is from 6 hours ago. Totally impossible - as the event in DC would have been within the last couple of hours.
Sheesh.

Pretty sure the Venn diagram of the people who are defending Trump staring at the eclipse without eye protection and the people who were up in arms about Obama’s flip-flops is a circle.

It's showing up on my news feed from 6 hours ago. *shrug* either way. We were at a public event for the eclipse, i was talking to my mom, turned, looked up at the sky to get a bead on where the freaking sun actually was, and the DJ that was narrating our event called me out for looking up. People look up. Honestly, do you even know anyone that looks at the sun? It's almost a reflexive action - look, blink, look away.

If you didn't wear glasses and looked at it after all of the coverage NOT TO DO THAT, I say you are dumb. You cannot feel solar retinitis and even a small glance can do damage. Your risk. But to do it even knowing a slight risk, then yes. Dumb. If Trump and Melania both did it, then yes, I also call THEM dumb too.

But our eyes don’t react the same during an eclipse, and our eyes can look directly at the sun for much longer - long enough to sustain permanent retinal damage. That’s why the glasses are such a big deal, and not being cautious is just plain foolish, no matter who you are.

He did it just to prove that all the warnings about it were "fake news." Or, probably more likely, that's he's so omnipotent that nothing will happen to HIM!

I am so not a Trumper, but this photo shows him with glasses: link (scroll down the page) Might have helped his tan, though.

It wasn't just a picture though, it is a video and it is only after someone repeatedly yelled for him to put the glasses on that he did. And no matter what the time stamp says it was clearly at the time of the live eclipse. A problem with a time stamp at people.com doesn't negate the fact that anyone looking at the eclipse without glasses is risking their eyesight and it is a pretty foolish thing to do.

Eclipse is a noun. If you are viewing an eclipse, then you are viewing or watching or checking out the eclipse. Not "eclipsing".

Eclipse is a noun. If you are viewing an eclipse, then you are viewing or watching or checking out the eclipse. Not "eclipsing". Also a verb which still doesn't mean to watch an eclipse.
