If money permits, I am planning to see about getting a hotel room for 2 nights in the not too distant future and scrap the days away. I just picked 2 latch boxes for 60% off plus 20% off coupon at M's. The are the smaller ones because they are deeper (PL cards will fit nicely upright, I hope) and I would be able to pack a lot of my common supplies. It probably won't come to pass, but even if it doesn't, I can find uses for them. This is the first 60% off sale where additional coupons could be used in at least 2 years.

My friends and I are heading to Estes Park next month. We are all bringing our crafting stuff and working on different things. My friend found a place (from her MIL) who said we can just use it since it won't be rented that weekend! I think we are all going to pitch in and get the woman a good gift card for something though.

Ooooh! I need this thread! My craft room is such a mess right now! I'm using it to sort through all the kids outgrown clothes and stuff that's on its way out of the house!

I am always looking for better ways to store all my goodies. I appreciate hearing about the experiences of others.

Have you ever tagged/labeled your digital stuff before? No, I haven't needed to, with all the thumbnails there to see (and I didn't have very much, either) But I can see how useful it would be to do that before I acquire much more stuff! TBH I hadn't come across Lightroom until recently. I upgraded my PSE to 15 and there was an offer on for Lightroom too. Maybe I should have paid more attention at the time? I had the idea that it was for photographers rather than creative souls like ourselves and dismissed it without real consideration. Time to return and take a closer look, I think. Just to update, I installed Lightroom on my new PC yesterday (A Microsoft Surface Studio - how lucky am I?!?!) and so far so good. LisaDV it looks to be the business, but tagging over 130k pictures? I don't think I have long enough in my lifetime!! Suddenly, I am so extraordinarily grateful to those designers who build in tags and keywords to their digital products - thank you thank you x So far, I've just tagged my Christmas folder, thinking that's the one I'm likely to be accessing most over the next few months. I discovered hidden corners of PSE thanks to Jessica Sprague and others who delivered online classes with a scrapbooking slant to them. Does anyone know of any online resources for Lightroom from a Scrapbooking point of view, please? There's loads for amateur photographers and I feel sure there must be something for those of us who use it slightly differently.

I have heard of people who tag only the "collection" thumbnail for the digi kit (ie that picture that shows you everything that is in the kit). That way instead of tagging 20 or 50 individual elements you can tag one image with all the keywords. When you search for a keyword and find the kit that has what you want you can open the folder. This is particularly useful if you like to use multiple items from one kit or collection.

Chinagirl828 that's a great tactic and one I may adopt. It could at least prove to be a useful starting point, because right now, it feels like I'm standing at the foot of Mount Everest with no hope of ever reaching the top! Thank you for sharing x

I spent 8 hrs or more in my scraproom yesterday cleaning them. And wow I made huge progress.
The pile of empty bins is unbelievable. I got rid of a garbage bag. (I did a purge in spring)
I have an art journal class this morning so when I get back at noon hoping to go back in.
I have some paper left to put away. My dies (this is a huge task), Christmas stuff And my tools left to do. I rearranged some stuff put stuff away. I'm on vacation in 2 weeks so I wanted my room clean so I could scrapbk while I was off so it's just about there.
Really happy with my progress yesterday

This week I was able to purge some older papers and stickers and gave it to a friend who is an art teacher at an elementary school. She was really happy. Dh came in yesterday from a walk with the dogs and asked me to come out to the front porch. He had found two square boxes with dividers that looked like they hung on a wall, sitting on the curb for free. Perfect for my stamp pads! He is going clean them up and paint them.

I would be interested in seeing organization/storage ideas for scrappers with a lot of kits. I have loads of kits and partial kits, from larger, full SC and GB scrapbook kits to small KP kits.
I have a 5x5 Kallax unit and have just rearranged enough to leave the bottom row empty for kits to be organized and stored - right now, I'm thinking by manufacturer/kit club and then by type and date released. But I'd love to see anyone else's setups - do you use shelf dividers, cardboard category dividers, etc?
I know the idea is to use kits up the month their received, but I guess I'm gearing up for the scrapocalypse or something with all my subs. 😉

This is particularly useful if you like to use multiple items from one kit or collection. You can also tag multiple items in the LR Library module. Just select multiple items using ctrl+mouse click or shift+mouse click and then you can apply one or more keywords to all those selected items. ETA I also have a gazillion photos and digital items and basically I've been keyword tagging new items since about 2 months ago. When I go looking for an older item then I'll tag everything in the folder I found the desired item in. Slow but not onerous.

I just discovered the "spraycan" which seems to make keywording ( see, I'm getting the LR jargon now <g>) rather easier in those digi collections with a bit of ribbon, a button or two, a few word tags, some papers etc etc. I realise that I can't do it all in one go and it will be an ongoing project for a while. Still, worth doing, I think.

With paper supplies the pile eventually goes down (in theory at least) but with digi there's no consumption so the pile just gets larger. I love being able to use my keywords to look for just the right thing for my pages.

Chinagirl828 it's so frustrating to "know" I have something but not be able to find it...and equally so, to only discover the "perfect" element two or three days - or weeks - after I've finished a project. With paper supplies the pile eventually goes down (in theory at least) but with digi there's no consumption so the pile just gets larger I hadn't thought of it in terms of ever increasing supplies, but you put it so well!

This is why I still have 8 sizzix alphabets..., for when there is no power ( even though I have a whole house generator!) and manual as well as electric die cutting machines.... And a whole wall if paper!!

JoAnn's had a 40% off everything that wasn't on sale sale. I decided to buy small plastic boxes to hold my embossing powder. Woot. One more craft supply will have a proper home. Now I need some of those tiny spoons to use with embossing powder. I am thinking a trip to Baskin Robbins for the tiny spoons (for samples) would be perfect!

I need to finish this weekend. Which it totally doable. It's a long weekend here in Canada so other than a couple dinners I should be fine. I was hoping to get to dies this week. But don't think that is happening.
I need to make some lists I think.

My local M's has Iris 12x12 translucent boxes on sale today for 3 for $10. Methinks I am going to score a few. I love these for everything but paper - they're just a little small for paper with a label at the top, as many patterned papers have. I'm also headed to the office supply store for standard storage boxes for larger items like my overstock of albums and refills. Getting started on that overhaul, today!

I have been working recently on a purge and re-org of my scrap room and I wanted to do a little tour for my youtube channel. Is there something specific you guys are looking for when you watch a studio tour? I still have a few details to work out before it's ready to be shown, so I will be watching this thread for more tips and tricks! Personally I like to see what others keep on their desktop for quick use and how their stash is organized. Please link when you have it ready to be viewed. me too!

I have bought ArtBins instead for just that reason. They aren't as cheap but they seem way sturdier. It helps that I only started paper scrapping a few years ago and stuck mostly to Project Life so my entire 12x12 paper collection can fit in about 4 ArtBins. Edited to add that this thread is so helpful to me. I moved my craft room recently and I haven't put it back together again yet. Each time I read this thread I get motivated to do a bit more. Today I cleared and moved a table and cleared a dresser to move where the table was. The kids are asleep so I don't want to run the vacuum before moving the dresser so it'll wait until morning.

I think I'm going to kick the boys out of their den space (they have a nice set up with a TV, game systems, etc...) and make a studio space out of it. I have outgrown my scrap space downstairs in the main floor. Plus, they have it too good so no wonder they don't want to move out!
