Hulu had a month free trial for HBO, Cinemax and ShoTime. I caved and decided to finally watch Game of Thrones. Just hit play on episode 1 season 1. I'm seeing a zombie binge session in my future.

Waving from the choir. I have a very serious Game of Thrones addiction. Treatment starts tomorrow after the season finale

I watched all five seasons in a month last year. I also may/may not have re-watched them again. It is one of the most well written shows I've ever seen; truly a level above anything else out there.

But have some other shows to watch for awhile this evening. I'm sure I'll be midnight binging. And P. S. Peter Dinklage is a badass. I hope he stays that way.

This is one of the few shows that to me has only gotten better with each season .

I avoided it until last December, totally hooked! Binged and watched all seasons in a month- then was upset when I had to wait for this season to start...and now it is over! It was totally worth giving up cooking, cleaning, friends, family for a month-- LOL!!! Enjoy!!!! It gets better and better!

Serious question, to you, the OP or any of the pea fans: DH and I were never one-episode-a-week-audience members so when the streaming service was offered here (SA was behind the US for series one but now they are all caught up) we were ready to dig in. At around the same time, however, several articles in the press and online opined that the writing, although good, relied too much on the audience being willing to swallow jumps and non-sequiturs, in the manner of Lost. IIRC similar things were said on this board. We passed. Were we misled? For a rip roaring tale like this I might put up with a certain amount of "confusion" but if it resorts to lazy total lack of continuity I lose interest. Disclosure: we are a couple of dinosaurs- we just re watched all 5 seasons of Boston Legal.

I binged watched the first 5 season over a month using the HBO Go app. It was a LOT to take in. When I finished I needed a hug, therapy and a shower. I'm a big fan of binge watching but with GoT I much prefer the one episode a week methodology.

My husband and I just started this show as well. I was shocked when both my kids were very familiar with the series and said they knew lots of kids who were watching it. They're young teens - are people really watching GoT with their kids? We've only seen the first couple episodes, but man, I'm no prude, but I don't know that I can imagine watching those sex scenes with my 13 year old son.

YES! I just discovered this show this summer thanks to my brother! At first dd (18) and I were watching together. But she didn't seem as interested so this month I have been watching like crazy and just started the current season! Crazy stuff! I LOVE IT!

I sometimes watch with my DS, but there are definitely scenes where one of us will stop watching for a while and catch up later. He's 28, for the record. No way would I let him watch it at 13, or even 16. 18, ok, but not with me.

All I can say is if you like any character, don't get attached. It's a great show, very intense but worth the ride. I'm still catching up on the last two seasons but I'm not one to get terribly pissed about spoilers. I have a general idea of what happens which I kind of like. Seeing how the spoilers actually play out is always a nice surprise.

I get so excited when someone finds GoT and starts binging it. It's like when someone likes your kid and says great things about them. Heehee! Enjoy, PolarGreen12 and keep us updated!

Whatever you do, don't go on FB, read the GOT threads here, or turn on the radio until you finish the series. There are so many spoilers floating around. I couldn't believe our local radio station started talking about the season finale without warning its listeners first! Thankfully, I had already seen the episode, but would have been pissed had I not.

We are hardcore addicts and I am quite certain we have seen every episode, multiple times. I agree it's one of the best written shows I have ever seen. Throw in the amazing actors and impeccable direction, and it really is a masterpiece.

I just started GoT. I tried once before, saw the brother-sister stuff and was done. People kept telling me I had to get through the first 3 and I would be hooked. When my hairdresser said it on Saturday, I gave it a shot and watched three on Saturday night. Yup. Hooked. Started season 2 last night.

I have been holding out watching this show, but I feel myself weakening. I will probably breakdown and watch it when it gets colder and I have less to do outside.

The big issue a lot of people have are the "time" jumps; for example, characters will appear in, let's say, the United States and five minutes later they're in Australia. The writers have explained that this is necessary to keep the plot moving along, and so that we're not spending multiple episodes waiting for them to complete their travel. It's something you eventually just learn to accept, and doesn't really take away from the experience.

Disclosure: we are a couple of dinosaurs- we just re watched all 5 seasons of Boston Legal. I do think you were misled - a bit. This series is based on a series of books that are highly detailed. MANY characters in many different locations. There is just no way possible to capture all that detail without leaving some things out, and say, jumping from one country to the next. It isn't even always something I picked up on until I heard others mention it. So, if you are picky about minor details like that, you might be annoyed, but I certainly never have been. To me, the story moves along swiftly and in a way that makes perfect sense. Also, the first 3-4 episodes have you wanting to take notes and scratch your head, because there are so many characters being introduced. My advice to newbies is to just roll with it and eventually you will figure out who everyone is and it will soon make perfect sense. Also, a huge help to me was after every episode I would go to TV.com and read the episode recap by Tim Surette. He is really funny, and he read all of the books, so he explain things in detail for me and made the show that much more enjoyable .

We have been obsessed since episode one. We watch together as a family every Sunday (me, DH & DS). DS is an adult, but i would have let him watch as a teen. I never censored movies or books as they were never censored for me as a kid growing up. I can remember seeing The Godfather at the theater, so I would have been 6-7 in 1972.
ETA: never would have censored when he became a teen. I did censor before then, most specifically Pulp Fiction. That movie was hard for me to watch and i remember we didn't watch it until a day he was not home.

Since I never planned on watching the series I didn't avoid spoilers on it before and friends that watch are ALWAYS talking about it, so I know lots of things that will be happening. It's okay. I'm still very much enjoying it regardless.

I just started watching a few weeks ago when I was helping my stepdad when he was recovering from surgery (he and my mom have been watching, and they have HBO, which up until now we didn't have). It was awkward watching with him. I would NEVER want to watch with my 14 year old (or younger kids). DH and I have started watching it now, but we have a hard time getting much watching in because all of the kids need to be in their rooms for us to start watching. I couldn't imagine thinking this was an appropriate show for a young teen.
