Placed my first order from Simon Says Stamps - I've never used them before, and they seem slow? It's been a week and my order is just now processing. Is this the norm with this company? What are your experiences? Nothing I ordered was backordered.

Yes they are horribly slow to ship. I learned to only order SSS branded stuff from them.

It's pretty much always the norm. I've ordered from them maybe 7-8ish times, and at the best of times it takes 3-4 days for them to process my order, and it's always sent in the slowest possibly shipping method, so often it's 10 days to 2 weeks before I get stuff, which is an eternity in the Amazon Prime world. I have to say when I only want 1-2 stamps or one of their exclusives, it doesn't bug me too much because their $5 off coupon usually drops shipping down to $2, and I can deal with a bit of slow for the price break. When there's no coupon and I have to pay full postage and it still feels like my stamps go on a world-tour before they get to me it bugs me to no end. There's been a couple of times I've ordered from SSS and Ellen Hutson on the same day, and I usually get my stamps from Ellen before my Simon stamps are even boxed up. But that said, they've got great exclusives, they've never made a mistake on my order, and the one time I had a defective product they were great about fixing it, so slow is probably the only complaint you'll ever hear about them.

Yes, slowest shipping ever. I pre-ordered back when KP had stamps with them and I had to e-mail them every time to remind them to ship my order.

Yep my experience has been slow shipping as well, although when things actually leave they usually take about the same length of time to New Zealand as orders from other companies.

Thanks for all the feedback. Agreed, in the Amazon Prime world we have become spoiled! I just know so many scrapers and stampers praise them, so I was honestly surprised with the slow shipping.
I will definitely be looking at other options if it is something I can get somewhere else.

I have no idea WHY it takes them a week to get the order into a box. I hope that means they have a small crew of well paid people not being expected to work long hours, etc etc. I do get a bit creeped out when I place an order somewhere and an hour later it has already been shipped, no matter what the day or hour. But SSS could really work on being a little bit faster with their order handling. There's nothing so demoralizing as thinking your stamps might arrive today and then you get the "we just shipped your package!" email. Ugh.

I'm debating ordering today for just that reason. What I want is SSS brand, so I can't get it anywhere else.
Does anyone know if there are any coupon codes for this month, or if there won't be due to Stamptember?

I stopped shopping at SSS. I don't even bother to look at their branded stuff because I know it will take 2+ weeks to get an order from them (I live in CA). I started shopping at Scrapbooks.com (they are in AZ) and I can order something Thursday night and it will be delivered on Saturday. That's hard to beat!

JustTricia I haven't been able to find one yet, and I've gone to every blog in the 2 days of blog hops and watched all the YTs looking for it. I went ahead and ordered because I wanted several stamps I was pretty sure would sell out, and I'd be annoyed waiting for them to get back in stock. If you aren't in a big hurry, I think they've done a SSS brand sale around Black Friday in the past. Maybe if we're lucky they'll do something for Labor Day on Monday.

I'm debating ordering today for just that reason. What I want is SSS brand, so I can't get it anywhere else. Does anyone know if there are any coupon codes for this month, or if there won't be due to Stamptember? They usually include a card with the $5 discount in the monthly stamp kit. I just opened mine, and no card. Besides the slow shipping, it really bugs me that I can't add anything to the monthly kit shipment. It costs $7 shipping for that, then I have to pay another $7 shipping for any additional items, even things like stickers or dies that go with the kit. That is so ridiculous. I either don't buy them at all, or add them on to orders elsewhere. I only order SSS exclusives from them these days, but I would spend a lot more there if they allowed add-ons. The slow shipping, high prices, online shopping cart without the ability to transfer to a wish list, having to type in your birthday if you want to be notified when an item is back in stock (wth!), and lack of notification on kit shipments aren't deal breakers for me (yet). I draw the the line at the add-on issue! I've developed a tenuous relationship with SSS. Love the product, annoyed by most everything else.

I haven't shopped at SSS in years so I don't know if they have reevaluated their unethical shipping practices. One of the main reasons that I stopped shopping with them was their use of free Priority Mail shipping supplies to ship First Class packages. I emailed them about it, received no response, and then my next order they did the same thing. So I stopped shopping with them and even reported them to the USPS.
That was many years ago and they have hopefully quit doing this...but I can't do business with a company like that.

I've never ordered from them but they do carry some brands I haven't seen elsewhere. I've been hearing about the slow shipping for years but at least if I do order I'll know it'll take a while for stamps to get to me.

I have ordered from them a handful of times. Every time is super slow and every time I have not had my whole order. This last one was my last time. I ordered some Simple Stories Basics 12X12 paper and another set of 12X12 paper, they came in a medium flat rate box. This box is TOO small for 12X12 paper. My paper was curled up and the last 2 inches or so will need to be cut off. I emailed them with pictures and their response was "It will flatten out after you place something heavy on it" REALLY!?!?! I shouldn't have to do that. They offered a replacement or refund of my shipping after a few emails back and forth. I got shipping back as I didn't trust them to ship paper again. I hope it was just my experience as I found it to be unprofessional and irresponsible on their part. I hope y'alls experiences are better!

Yep! I placed 2 orders with them. One took at least 4 weeks to get to me. The other order took less, 3 weeks. I lived in Ohio at the time, which is where they're located. I stopped ordering from them.

I received an email for a free item with my next order. I bit the bullet and ordered the Lawn Fawn Shadow box card die (❤️❤️❤️). I actually received three free items. A Mother's Day 4x6 stamp, a leaf and berry stencil, and a red envelope. I'm most excited about the stencil. It's perfect for the upcoming holiday season. It's generic enough to use all year long just changing the color for each season.

I've been eyeing that Lawn Fawn box card die, too. I have a few things in my card that might be worth ordering to get freebies. I'm such a sucker. Oh, except I created my cart on my computer at the office, and even though I was logged in, nothing appears on my iPad. Unlike other websites, the SSS cart is stored in cookies, not in your account. Grrrr, add that to my list of grievances. lisacharlotte, how do you know what your free item is? When I add it to the cart, it doesn't say. Can you pick from a selection?

oaksongI got one of those codes a couple weeks ago, too, and another one today. I didn't have one WHEN I ordered, I got it in an email AFTER I ordered and paid for shipping. One of the girls on the stamping board said her "free item" was a catalog. So...yay for free, but don't get your hopes up?

I've had absolutely no issues with SSS shipping...always goes out 1-2 days after order and gets to me (in Canada) in 1-2 weeks. Weird! And then paper issues...which I know most people find shipping to be awesome (and I love shopping there, don't get me wrong!) but often it takes my orders several days to go out and they are slow to get to Canada (like 3 weeks).
Shrug. (BTW, no free items here!)

A long time ago- I did have some slower processing experiences but over the past year or so, I think things improved. I was pleased with the quick turn around. Sorry others are having issues. And yes, I too am spoiled by Amazon prime... fast and free!

So...has anyone found a coupon code? I'd really like to get one of the collab sets, but ugh I hate to pay shipping again!
I ordered last Friday and got my order today, a bit quicker than usual, so yay for that! I paid the full $7 shipping, but it came 1st class, not priority. I didn't get the free gift coupon until right AFTER I made my purchase, so no freebies for me.
The new "If the hat fits" stamps don't feel the same, they're kind of cloudy and stiffer, and after 20 minutes I still can't get the hats to peel off the plastic. Is there some trick to this I'm missing? My hands are cramping like mad, and I feel like such an idiot, but they're really stuck! I've managed to wiggle my nail under in a couple places to try to peel up a start, but I can't get enough up to even get a grip on the stamp. Help!

I have no idea why, but SSS stamps are so hard to get off that plastic sheet. More so than any other brand of stamps I have. I even tore a SSS stamp in half once trying to get it off. It is still use-able by putting the two pieces together on a block, but I was so aggravated about that. So use some muscle, but go very very slow. Once you get a corner up, pull slowly. ETA: Since you said you can't even get a corner up, I wonder if applying some type of heat would help. Maybe a blow dryer could help soften up the stamp enough to help you get it off the sheet. Or maybe trying to break the suction with soaking it in water? I don't know, but I think it's ridiculous that you are having to fight so much just to use the products you bought. If those don't work, I'd definitely contact SSS and tell them the problems you are having. And for the OP, yes my orders are never quick with SSS. I usually wait forever for them to even leave their warehouse. Super slow compared to almost all other internet businesses. It usually takes at least 2 weeks to get anything from them, so I only order if they have something I really want and can't get elsewhere or occasionally if they have a coupon to help defer shipping costs.

Generally pretty slow shipping for me (to MN). Not weeks, but certainly not a few days either. I despise their shipping practices though. I paid 6.99 shipping for 2 regular size stamp sets. I assumed they would be sent priority mail. Nope first class. It could not have cost more than $2 to ship the sets. And never, ever order 12x12 paper from them. They typically package it in a padded envelope and it arrives a mess. Last time I ordered 12x12 I requested they put it in better packaging. It arrived in a medium priority box, but they still had to bend the paper kit to fit the box. I love supporting small businesses when I can, but I have a hard time with SSS.

Great. That's the stamp set I ordered. I ordered two days after you (I did have the coupon for the freebie, that's what pushed me over the edge to order), and it still shows as "processing". I just checked, and my last order took six days from order to shipping, so I'm hoping it goes out today.
