Sunday, so lunch is our main meal. I had bought both chicken breasts and beef mince and was planning a chicken curry for today, but DH started on dinner while I was in the shower, and made spaghetti sauce with the mince, so we had plain boring spag bol for lunch. It might be plain and boring, but it was also very yummy.
Had a chat to older DS and his wife after lunch, as today is Australian Father's Day. DiL's mum is now doing really well after her stroke a couple of months back. If you can spare some baby thoughts, send some DiL's way - they are about to embark on IVF in the next couple of months and she is also going to a first info session re adoption in a couple of weeks.
I'm off to my SnB in an hour or so - despite the broken elevator, I just need to get out and meet my friends. I am hoping we get some action on it soon - the note stuck on the door says the technicians are waiting on parts, which is why it hasn't been fixed yet. I know I have to go out tomorrow - it's my appointment with the Orthopedic Clinic - so I have a couple more treks up and down at least!

I love that meme leannec! sueg I hope they fix your elevator soon! Today is a gloomy day and my mood matches the weather 😕 I'm afraid I maybe coming down with a cold. I put off going to visit my Dad until tomorrow and hope I don't regret that. I decided we needed to eliminate some leftovers from the fridge so I used 4 ears of corn on the cob in corn chowder which I just finished making. There is steak that can be sliced and heated for sandwiches. There are beautiful tomatoes from dh's friend's garden that can go on BLTs and there's a large bowl of salad. No one will starve! There's also a lot of peach crisp for dessert.

It's supposedly the last super hot day today. So, that's day 3 of dinner that doesn't come from the stove. It might be a leftover night. leannec, I love your meme. I'm also a crazy cat lady. sueg, I will think lots of baby thoughts for your son and dil. It sucks that you are imprisoned in your apartment while they wait to fix the elevator. Grrrr. KelleeM, take it easy today, drink some tea and I hope you can fend off your cold.

DH requested hot dogs...sure, fine by me because that's an easy Sunday night meal. I think I'll stick to a sandwich. It's a pretty lazy day around our house.

We are going to Greekfest today so I plan to eat a lot of good Greek food. There is a holiday party at this park, but I am skipping it as there will be too many people and no parking. It's also supposed to be really warm. Long sleeves on a hot day just doesn't jibe with me.

We were at a softball tournament yesterday and some of the guys were talking about a rib cooking contest that they had all taken part in. Then, on the Costco thread, several people mentioned the preseasoned ribs from Costco. I figured it was destiny, so we are having ribs tonight along with Costco Mac and cheese and some sort of vegetable. Ds wants peas, which dh and I don't care for, so he and I may have corn or I will talk ds into steamed broccoli.

It is still as hot as Satan's nut sack here and there is a local fire making the air quality super bad and we can't use the pool because of the amount of ash in the water.
But it is the start of the Ber months. I decorated for fall and Halloween yesterday.
Tonight is PWs Sunday Beef Stew. While we may have a high of 106° today (so.over.the.heat.) I am craving comfort food. Serving it with mashed potatoes and gf df cf sf blue berry muffins.
Sooooooo ready for soup season. Cool, crisp fall air....where are you??!!??!!??!!??!!

Sooooooo ready for soup season. Cool, crisp fall air....where are you??!!??!!??!!??!! What the heck state are you in?! (That's a joke ... I know where you are.) We never get cool, crisp fall air here ... we just go straight from flaming summer to cool, crisp winter days. Today is my second Blue Apron night. Strip steak with garlic butter, oven fries, and green bean/tomato salad. Family coming over. I guess I'd better clear all the junk off the dining room table now, huh?

I am close to the mountains and 25 min from Oak Glen which is an apple ochard town. So our trees change color and we get those nice crisp days and of course the ever super fun Santa Ana winds. I am close to the Palmer Fire. Thankfully the ranch dd rides at and the one she previously rode at are safe!!!

lucyg, what you call cool & crisp winter days are what the rest of the country knows as fall days. I think the weather has broken here. It was in the 90s by 8 am and is now down to 85. Our low last night was 85. I've said it before, but I don't mind the heat as long as it cools down after dark. I cannot sleep if it doesn't get into at least the low 70s. So I'm really grumpy & tired today. If the temp continues to drop I might make an Italian sausage & spinach pasta dish for dinner.

The tribe sends a shout-out to our mighty wordsmith, @calimom2 , for her exquisite use of the phrase, "hot as Satan's nut sack," in her first post. May the gods and goddesses of weather honor you and send oppositional cooling breezes to keep any more of Satan's body parts away from the home that lucyg mentioned, humorously and funnily. Tribal honors also go to the mightiest child in the world, holding the massive and surely unhealthy beast in the meme. The tribal scribe's much smaller beast meows her blessings and sends dry, disgusting pellets of nutrition to the feline. Metaphorically, that is. She cannot drive to the post office, no matter the desire. We are bereft of food around here. No idea of what to eat because we are still attempting to solve the unsolvable with the trailer. I did make lucyg 's easy delicious pie crust recipe, given to her by her grandmother who surely did not own such a large beast as the one posted in the meme. The pie is blackberry cream cheese with some other refrigerator items thrown in for good measure. Perhaps that is how the large cat fell victim to the adiposity it displays. Refrigerator bits and bobs. Huh? Like I am some kind of English manor lady talking. Thank you for starting the thread. And posting the beast meme. Holy cow (a fellow largeness).

lucyg , what you call cool & crisp winter days are what the rest of the country knows as fall days. Yes, but when they don't happen until December/January, we call that "winter." (I don't turn on the heat until at least Thanksgiving!)

(Ok, it's really because the sun shines on the front of the house most of the day and warms it up. Even in January and February, the heat sometimes doesn't kick on.)

I decided it was too hot for sitting in the sun at GreekFest and someone decided we should go out for Greek FOOD! Count me in on this one! Can't say I am complaining at all! We have a Greek/Italian restaurant in town and I love the food there. I am also looking forward to not cooking dinner tonight!

I sautéed the sausages with diced onions & garlic, I deglazed the pan with a bit of white wine, added a tablespoon of sour cream for color. then I added 2cups of baby spinach in the same pot with the sausage & served it over the risotto.

We have so many leftovers from last night's dinner, even after sending my brother and SIL, dad and stepmum and SIL's parents home with heaps of food! So we will be having lasagne, curried tuna and rice slice and scalloped potatoes, then chocolate pudding and lemon meringue pie for dessert.
