Because he passed 'too close' to a black man while pushing a shopping cart in a store parking lot.
The world has gone mad on a whole new level.

I'm not at all doubting the veracity of your statement, but would you mind sharing how, exactly, this all happened? Details and context would really help here.

If you are white, you are automatically racist. Nope. If you are racist you are automatically a racist. Everything else depends on circumstances.

And I know there is a lot of people I know and around are on both the "left" and the "right". Many that I've seen/heard say this seem to be more in fear of somehow losing rights just by the thought of POC gaining equality.

He does it 8 hours a day, 4+ days a week. He was pushing a cart to stack it for a cart mule. Something he's done a gazillion times. He's totally aware of how to push those carts around a parking lot full of people and moving cars. A jackass emboldened by all the fueling of racism decided to take it out on my son. My son did apologize to the guy when he first called him out for 'getting too close' with the cart. That wasn't enough to satisfy this guy so he went on a racist rant. People did start to gather, but DS was able to distance himself fairly quickly. It was a potentially dangerous situation for my son when all he was doing was his job. And there was NO reason for it.

So....your son bumped BRUSHED simply walked by this guy, and he started accusing your son of being a racist? Sounds more like this man was having a really bad day and took it out on your son, which I am very sorry for. I wouldn't necessarily say that it's that this man was "emboldened by all the fueling of racism". Unfortunately, jerks come in all colors. Many people think it's okay to be harsh to employees they perceive as low-level. I'm sorry your son had to bear the brunt of this man's anger. It was wrong of him to treat your soon poorly, period. I do, however, disagree with your certainty that this is the left's fault, and I don't quite understand who you think is "emboldening" him with "all the fueling of racism."

I misunderstoodthe. I thought there was some sort of accidental contact, based on you saying your son was told he "passed too close". That's why I asked for context. I wasn't implying that your son had any sort of hostile contact with this man, and I think I made it pretty clear that I don't think your son did anything wrong. Your son was just trying to do his job. Interesting that you ignored everything I said about the man's treatment of your son being out of line. THIS is typical RIGHT, I guess. Thank YOU

I really don't have a polite response to the rest of your post. I get that you're angry because someone verbally attacked your son. I'd be angry, too. But your anger obviously goes much deeper than that. You seem very angry at "the left" and people of color in general. That makes me sad. I don't think anything can be said to reach you at this point. It makes me really sad and uncomfortable to know that people like you look at people like me with suspicion and anger.

I haven't ever been called a racist. I had a few parents question my motivation as a teacher. Once they met me in person they realized I was for holding all kids accountable, not a child of a particular race. Thankfully we don't see the world the same way. I think your son didn't deserve what happened to him. Some people are assholes. I don't see that as burn to the ground behavior. We need to spend as much time building relationships with people of all kinds of backgrounds. It makes us more tolerant and understanding of what each race is dealing with.

Just to be clear, I (and not the left) made a mistake - your son, apparently, walked BY this man, who then unleashed a verbal attack on him. Not sure what my politics have to do with the fact that I misunderstood your (not very clear) post.

Looks like this "craptastic political divide" has seeped into your life, as well. And yes, it is fucking nuts. I think it was wholly wrong of that man to treat your son the way he did. I would have thought this even if your son had accidentally touched the man. The kid was working, I'm sure just trying to get those damn carts in the store as quickly as possible. There was no need for the man to react in such an ugly manner, nor was there a need to turn this into a racial issue. But likewise, I simply misread your post. You, in turn, responded by being rude and blaming my misunderstanding on my liberal politics. Neither is constructive.
