Anything reasonable out there? I need to move my cobbled together area to my upstairs spare room. Scrapbox is out of my price range.
What do you have in YOUR scrapspace? Pics appreciated!

I bought a six piece credenza at a furniture store. It wants cheap though. Wonder if you check you local ads for a going out of business sale or on Craigslist. I also have two good sized ladder shelves (made sure they were the right size) that holds a bunch of paper and baskets.

I bought a big U shaped desk new in the box at a closeout office furniture place for $400. It's commercial quality and I'm sure at retail it would have been at least three times the price I paid. I was able to get shelving made to match it exactly to go on the wall above it by a local closet organizer place. Sometimes it pays to look for things in uncommon places!

Ikea has a lot of affordable furniture that's perfect. I love the Alex drawer, the Kallax units and their linmon desks.

Another vote for Ikea if you have one close by. So much stuff there you can use.

I would say 75% of my craft room is made up of IKEA furniture - galant desks, Alex drawers, raskogs, plus a couple of other pieces no longer sold. The rest is from Target - bookcases and cubes that are like the Recollection cubes.

I shared some photos of my scrap space in THIS thread, look at page 2 for the clean room photos. I haven chosen to use furniture that means something to me in my space. My DH made me my 6' workspace - it cost less than $100 total. He also made me a cabinet (its yellow!) - it was probably less than $100 to make. I have a dresser that was in my daughters nursery before she passed away that stores all my inks, card making supplies and stamp stuff. I have a rocking chair that was in my nursery when I was born. The only free-standing furniture that is not something made for me or something that is special to me is a white desk I got on sale from Pottery Barn. It had a scratch on it when I bought it so I got it pretty cheap.

I would love to have pretty antique furniture, but I am content wth my stuff from ikea. It has the clean lines I like and is extremely functional. I bought a standing u shaped desk in a lovely light grey from the as is section and underneath it I have expedit cases and an Alex drawer unit.
I think if you don't want IKEA I would check Craig's list and your neighborhood message board if you have one. People are always selling armoires and desks on my neighborhood message board for super cheap.

Closest IKEA is in Canada I think - but maybe they would ship here (buffalo NY) from another stateside location. I love the bookcase finaledition! mom - you're cleaning thread got me thinking. Off to search Ikea's website.

A lot of people say that Ikea is expensive, but in comparison to what you'd get from office stores that do similar things (and not nearly as well or as multifunctional as Ikea) it's actually not that expensive. Kallax and Alex lines are the best in terms of affordability and functionality for a variety of things.
If I ever get to do the remodel that I want to do, I'll probably even order some of their kitchen cabinetry for storage, too. It's not as affordable as other Ikea items, but you can customize the cabinets with drawers and other pull outs for a lot less than you can just about anywhere else.

I am partial to Ikea furniture too. Love the kallax cubes and their tables. I want a raskog.

most of the furniture in my scrap room is either from Ikea or the Container store. I have had a set of Container store shelves for probably 20 years now; they move from house to house with me. THey're these shelves: elfa shelving example. (not this exact configuration, but this gives you a general idea. I think maybe Home Depot or other stores sell the same type of shelving, now... Basically, you screw an upper track to the wall at ceiling height, and hang the upright pieces from it. Then you buy shelf brackets and shelves in whatever shelf 'width / depth' you want. They're easy to configure, crazy-strong, and you can put together any combination of shelves you want. I have 4 or 5 shelves that are maybe, 6 feet wide? a couple are deep enough to hold 12x12 Iris containers, and the other ones are 8 inches deep. I also have an ancient desk from the Container store, basically this one- one set of wire mesh drawers, a desk top, and a set of two legs. Everything else in my craft room is a mishmash of random bookcases and leftover furniture (like our old Ikea kitchen table, lol), plus three Ikea Billy bookcases and one 4x4 Kallax cube (which is where I keep my typewriter). I really want ONE LARGER work surface-- the desk is only 54x24 inches, and the kitchen table (butted right up against it) is a slightly different height. I'd like one larger work surface that's more in keeping with the 3x6 tables at the retreats I attend. I stand quite often, too, so a taller table wouldn't be bad, either. Has anyone here made a desk out of a door + bookcases, like the DIY ones you see online?

I'm in the middle of a scrap room remodel right now. I purchased the largest kallax unit. I'm putting 5 drawers and 5 doors. I also bought 2 Alex drawers one short and wide and the taller one. All that was under $700.00

My scrapbook/craft room is part of a spare bedroom. I use a metal wire 5-shelf unit I bought at Aldi's with heavy duty wire (you can get the came thing at Walmart or Lowes, etc). I cut to size and put foam poster board on the shelves and my albums are on the bottom row. The next shelf up are the Iris 12x12 clear containers that are cheap on black Friday sales at Michael's to store stickers, papers, embellishments by theme. things. I use the clear Cropper Hopper things to store paper and cardstock. I bought 2 of the Creative Memories medium storage containers to store my journaling cards and Project Life stuff. The other shelves basically have small Iris containers or clear plastic containers that have my small ink pads and daubers and any other items. I have some other containers for other craft items such as yarn.
For a desk, I bought a small farmhouse kitchen table that was a floor model at Kmart. There were some scratches I just covered up with black and brown sharpie pens. I have my Tombow markers on the desk and a small carousel that holds my Kiwi Lane template.
