I live in a fairly large subdivision and the houses are really close to each other. Someone on the street behind me always shoots fireworks even tho it is illegal here. They come flying over my house. When it's really dry it always worries me about them starting a fire. Thank goodness it's not too dry now because they started shooting them last night. Our town even had their annual firworks show (Freedom Fest) last night instead of waiting til the 4th of July. Not sure why they did that. Anyone else already having fireworks?

When I lived in TX, they would do them in the subdivision everywhere. Drove me nuts, and it was illegal there too. We live on a lake now, and someone has been shooting off a few each night for the past week. I get concerned for my seizure dog. I will have to drug him up good come Friday!

People have started blowing them off here. I'll give you the 4th of July. Do whatever you want on the 4th. Blow ALL your shit up.
But, does it really need to happen for the two weeks prior and after? So irritating. It makes my dog freak out and hide and pant, and I'd really rather only have to deal with that for one or even two days instead of like, 3 weeks. Jerkholes.
You want to celebrate America? Try reading a damn book instead of attempting to blow your hand off like a damn hillbilly.

One nearby town had them yesterday. I believe that they have said it's because it's cheaper.

We moved into 'town' earlier this spring and I thought for sure fireworks were a thing of the past. last night I heard what I thought was a house exploding... no just a huge firework. I wonder how many people called the cops on them since it was blatantly illegal according to my next door neighbor who DID call.

Here it's only legal on the 4th, Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day and as long as the fireworks don't fly.
I can deal with that. Two weeks before/after? I wouldn't be amused.

It's legal to purchase fireworks in NH so we will listen to them for the next couple of weeks. Usually by the time the 4th rolls around, I'm pretty much done with the noise. So is my dog.
We put up with them. The only time I did call the police was after the college age guys that were renting the house across from us climbed up on the roof of their garage at around 1am and were drunk and stumbling around while lighting off fireworks. I was pissed about the time since DH and I both had to work the next day, but figured the police would at least get them down before one of them fell off on their head. Several neighbors had called too so I guess everyone had enough by then.

I live close to the lake and people have been setting them off from their boats for two weeks already. I guessing it will last another two weeks at least.

Try reading a damn book instead of attempting to blow your hand off like a damn hillbilly. I don't know. It's not something I think we should be proud off, but blowing your hand off like a damn hillbilly seems rather quintessentially American to me.

They've been doing them here, too--and it's illegal in my state. My dog despises it and is a nervous wreck. She hasn't been feeling well for awhile and today was the first day, after being on some antibiotics, that she was raring and ready to go for a walk--and then the firecrackers started going off and she's back to moping around and wanting to be held. Sigh.

I really dislike the the of July - because of the whole fireworks shenanigans. I hate them! They are loud and annoying. My boys end up waking up and I can't get to sleep until 1 or 2am.. You know, until the neighbors decide to call it a night.
Even when I was much younger and childless, I didn't like them!

People in my neighborhood have started already. One lady has posted on our community Facebook page that they were shooting them last night and someone called the police for disturbing the peace! I expect it on July 4th but also think you should be done at 10 PM. Not everyone gets the next day off work. Some have small kids, too. And then the pets. I believe a little consideration goes a long way. But, I sometimes think I'm the only one that thinks that.
