Has anyone purchased the navy pleather 6x8 album from Ali Edwards? I cannot recall, but I though someone mentioned here that the 6x8 pleather albums binding separated? I want to buy a few of one album for uniformity. Thank You! I purchased 4...and have used zero so far lol... they are really pretty and arrived in great condition. Hopefully that remains the case after I fill them up. I did purchase some black ones prior and have used them and they are holding up well. Thank you so much!

Ugh on more plastic. The state of the oceans is absolutely horrific. And if we don't do anything about it, it's predicted that by 2050 there'll be more plastic than fish in the oceans. I'd much rather they update the flimsy plastic bags stamp sets come in and go the Everyday Explorers route with sturdy sleeves instead. If you're going to use plastic, make it as durable as possible and only if truly necessary. The EU has been phasing out plastic bags for 15 years now (and the UK was one of the last to join in, @northrigg , I still remember the outrage from certain British folks on websites like the Daily Mail ). @missbellejane By 2021, loads of single use plastics will be banned throughout the entire EU: polystyrene fast-food containers, plastic straws, cotton buds/swabs with a plastic core, drink stirrers, etc. Here's a good recap article about this decision if you want to read up on it.
So, anyway, what's the deal with Inked inks? Am I missing out on something here? I haven't been wowed by their inks compared to what Ranger, Altenew and the likes are putting out on the market (for a similar price point as well) but I also haven't purchased an ink pad from them in the past couple of years. Finally, those small thin (they're a really thin line if you have never had these before) alpha stickers are da bomb if you like documenting on 3x4 cards. I was hoping SC might bring them back (but alas) so it's nice to see them again at AE's. Might place a small order. Just might...

Whats going on with these stamp pads? They look like they have cotton ball remnants on them? It looks like, to me, that the lids are on and there are white ink smudges on them. I really like the colours, I'll have to pick them up at some point.

Those alpha stickers are amazing and SC (and Ali, too) have had them before. I *think* they were co-branded with Basic Grey (or some similar were). Why these are not a regular staple in every color I do not understand.

SC Color Theory inks have great colors, but I find the quality of the dye inks hit or miss for stamping. The pigment inks are generally ok, but I’ve had a few iffy ones (but same goes for Ranger). The Ali inks are hybrid, and all the ones I’ve used stamp beautifully.
For the small alphas, they are great for PL, but I’ve had some of the ones in this font from SC that weren’t die cut all the way through, and those were frustrating and worthless! So I’m a bit leary of getting these.

@missbellejane I live in New York and there is some focus on reducing disposable plastic. While stores still have plastic bags, they give you discounts for bringing your own reusable bags and I know some cities have banned plastic bags, just not in my area. The straws have been a more recent focus, on Cape Cod (Massachusetts) they have been banned, but where I live they are just frowned upon. Most businesses have switched to the plant product ones or paper straws, or at the very least only give them upon request.

Is anyone else annoyed that they are now packaging the SBTM kits in the bag? The bag is cute, don't get me wrong, it would be nice to have a couple of those. But they are not environmentally friendly, the price increase has covered those bags and just throws more water on the whole - we did this because you asked for it...... No you did it to make the kits more appealing to people who aren't currently subbers, so you could make even more money......grhhh Yes! Especially given there was more than one thread on the FB group recently talking about reducing the amount of plastic that comes with the kits to which Ali said she and her team have been looking into. The paper bag are recyclable, these plastic zipper bags are not. And as much as I like them and think they are cute, they are still plastic...holding a bunch of times that are also wrapped in soft plastic. As someone has already said, there are only so many of these plastic bags that you can use. I have a whole box full of zippered plastic bags from various kits I've subscribed to over the years. Because I'm studying to be an early childhood educator I am sure that at some point down the track I will find a use for them in my classroom. But if that wasn't the case... well that is a lot of cute wasted plastic. I'm curious though about the attitudes toward plastic across the rest of the world. I know that down here in Australia there is a huge focus on reducing our use of plastic. Targeting single use plastics right now. Almost every state has now banned the use of single use plastic bags at retail outlets (grocery stores, department stores etc.) and are now looking at banning plastic straws as the next step. I'm curious if other countries (US in particular) share that focus? Or is it just something that is thought about but not really acted upon? Various cities (including mine) will now charge you (usually between $0.05 and $0.07/ bag) to use plastic bags at a grocery store or retail store. They are still free at a restaurant if you are bringing food home or something. Some cities have toyed with banning plastic straws. I don’t know if any actually put it into legislation yet. Other than some brands making efforts (like chip manufacturers tried using a biodegradable bag packaging), I can’t think of other plastic specific laws.

I do know for a fact that at least some cities on Cape Cod Massachusetts banned plastic straws, but I know there was a push for the entire cape to do so.

A lot of stores ALSO do that as well! But basically they think offering a stick instead of a carrot will be more useful in preventing people from forgetting their reusable bags. I won't lie, I'm known to throw things in my purse/backpack/just carry them out in my arms hahaha to avoid purchasing a bag. You will see a ton of tourists on Michigan Ave (I'm in Chicago) who didn't know and don't want to pay the bag fee and just carry their clothing items out of the store in their hands. When it first started, I felt like it would encourage shoplifting, but I have seen stores up their physical security or add traffic flows to the store to mitigate their ability to pick up more items or add additional security tags, etc. If you have a receipt in your hand and just the item without a bag, you tend to not get stopped.

a bunch of In a Creative Bubble digitals for this years WITL. Haven't figured out the album yet, not thrilled with this year's offerings. If you haven't looked at IACB you really should! So many of her products are perfect for WITL. Which sets did you get from IACB for WITL? She is having a spring sale and I'm trying not to buy everything.

I got stamps, ink, embellishments and page protectors and mine already shipped too. Ridiculous thing is that my WITL order is set to be here tomorrow and my regular monthly kits aren't getting here until Tuesday. What a backwards shipping system.

I have a dumb question I think. I'm a Story Kit subber. Last night I was looking at my digital files in my account and I have my digital Story Kits from the time I started to sub the up through 'Home' then nothing after that. Where would the rest of them be or do they not send it in digital format anymore?

It's good to see that it's being considered across the globe. Sadly though I fear that some of the biggest contributors (my SE Asian neighbours) are not even close to considering addressing the problem so there is a bit of work to be done on a more global scale.

And it's waste if I don't need it. I wish the bags could be an option or the kit w/o the bag at a lower price as an option. www.oceanroamers.biz/myblog/the-oceans-are-drowning-in-plastic-and-no-one-s-paying-attention

I agree, @zingermack. Plastic is not cute. It's a constant struggle to make decisions as consumers to lessen our impact on the planet but you've got to speak up and refuse to pay for stuff that is harmful.

Tracking for my WITL stuff showed Monday and my story kit was due to arrive Tuesday. Both arrived today. I ordered the questionable inks... and they are fine... no “white stuff” or whatever was going on with those other pics. I’m a SBTM subscriber as well and the little plastic pouch is a little bigger than the 4x6 cards. While I would prefer compostable packaging... it is cute and I will use and share as many as I can. I’m not sure I’m going to continue subscribing at the new price point anyway.
