I’ve decided this Friday the 13th full moon combo is creating a rift in the universe. Holy shit the mechanical stuff that just wouldn’t work today with no logical explanation. Mom’s pissy, Julie’s pissy, I need 5pm to get here stat so I can go home!!!

I agree. I just want to enjoy this hobby, not feel I need to analyze everything and everyone in my life. 🤷🏼♀️ Yes! Enough with all the intentional crap ffs!! Well, we can intentionally be unintentional I guess.

Jess' podcast was pretty good but it's been a long time since she had a new episode. I understand because she was working and just had her second baby (If I remember correctly). She is someone who speaks very much about "intentional" living and had a therapy feel to the podcast.
I often would fast forward to my favorite part where she would ask each guest about their system: Camera, printer, favorite tools...etc.

I re-subscribed to Ali’s story kit this month. The Family Kit is great and I like almost all of the components! I did miss out on the puffy sticker add-on kit... if anyone has an extra sheet, I’m willing to pay for it + shipping! I also snagged the cork leaves. I live in Florida and we don’t have falling leaves, but Ali’s cork leaves are too cute. I have some photos of my nephew with fall leaves and I’ll use the cork leaves with those photos.

I cannot believe I am going to over-pay for the acetate circles just to get the 'tribe' one. I am such a sucker.

The semi-circle add-ons are ridiculously priced! Six semi-Circles for $5.99? No, thank you.

If I can get that I'm totally buying the kit although I don't like all of the cards.

Welp, I haven't been tempted by something from Ali in a while and this release doesn't have anything I really want either. I think I'm definitely over her aesthetic at the mo'. Which is a good thing for my bank account, apparently. I hope people can sell off their duplicates to other Peas in this thread so that everyone can get their hands on their holy grail add-ons without it costing too much.

I totally agree with you on the aesthetics, the color helps this kit. The add on puffy stickers really are the best thing to me about the kit--color scheme and minimalist design.

I rarely use the white acrylic piece but I’ll definitely find a way to use the “family” piece. Overall, great kit.

At last count I had somewhere in the vicinity of 35 hoarded AE Story Kits. I think, it was a while ago that I counted. And I had a bit of an epiphany... they're hoarded rather than used because the format of the kits just doesn't really work with the way that I enjoy scrapbooking. If I'm telling stories, I want to do it in an 8.5x11 or 12x12 traditional layout and I struggle to include 4x6 and 3x4 cards into those layout with my style of scrapbooking. So while I like the idea of the stories generated by the story kits and want to get those things documented, I hit a creative roadblock trying to make those supplies fit my personal approach. I considered selling the bulk of my kits and just using the digital products but that didn't sit will with me (so much money spent!). So instead I'm giving myself permission to use up those kits and get those stories told by scraplifting Ali's and the guest designers layouts. And if inspiration strikes to do something else or something more than I'll run with that too. To me these kits are more about getting stories documented than they are about being super creative. So I'm ok with that.
I grabbed out the Light kit at the start of the month and have 3 x scraplifted layouts completed. But I'll be adding in another two layouts that were sparked in the process.
It has been quite refreshing to acknowledge and accept that while I love her aesthetic and I love the idea of the story kits, it's just not my preferred style and I don't need to force myself to try to be creative with something that doesn't really spark my creativity.

I do PL, and I actually have a hard time using the kits. Even though there are cards, it’s not easy to work such specific themes into your PL multiple times. I could see doing it for one layout, but there’s enough product to do several layouts — but do I really want several layouts about a specific word in my everyday project life?

I know in the past when I've used the cards/products in my PL spreads, I've actually selected the cards that are most relevant to the spread(s) I'm working on before any other more traditional layouts. But in some ways that feels like a wasted opportunity. Because I'm making the cards fit my documenting, rather than letting my documenting be guided by the products.

I feel like if I’m scrapping but not using the kit I subscribe to it’s time to stop getting that kit because it’s clearly not inspiring me. It’s another story if I just don’t have time.
35 kits is 3 years worth of kits. I would say that that kit is not the right one for you if you’re in the slightest inspired. I went about 7 months subbing to a kit I didn’t like. I tried so hard to like it, the individual pieces were great, but putting them into a layout was so hard. Yesterday I dumped almost all of those “to die for” kits into boxes and onto eBay. The kit I sub to now, I use almost every bit of it.

I just want to enjoy this hobby, not feel I need to analyze everything and everyone in my life. 🤷🏼♀️ This, a million times! Although we actually do have a family motto: "Safety third!" I can't listen to Jess Forster's mmmm hmmms. That's why I stopped listening to Pocket Talk, her podcast. Although I like Ali Edwards, her voice/vocal fry really bothers me after a while. And Stacy Julian, while I think some of her ideas are wonderful, can't stop talking. She can be overbearing and overwhelming. I guess I'm cranky too.

I ordered a few things from the AE shop tonight: the cork stickers, puffy hearts, chipboard alpha, and acrylic pieces from her latest scrapbook kit, plus the food puffy stickers and rubber shapes. I might regret spending that much on embellishments but I hope not. Her scrapbook kit products aren’t as overpriced as her food release products? The food kit is $54.99 I believe and her good old days kit is $44.99.

I would be expecting a LOT of really good products for $55. Hope you enjoy your fun stuff!

I received my AE embellishment kit today and it’s beautiful. I love the puffy hearts, chipboard, and cork leaves. The yellow felt heart is the only embellishment that has me scratching my head. The yellow is super bright and doesn’t coordinate with any of the other products.

I wish she would do some kit collabs instead. I don't need anymore classes! I already have a digital graveyard full of them.

I love classes but I’m not at a point in my life where these things are important or relevant to me. I’m sure some people will love this, though.

I’ve never been a class person but this one really turns me off. Sell me product please. Well designed kits tell stories too but there’s not enough profit margin there.
