Has anyone else not received their SBTM kit yet? Mine shipped on the 16th, said it would be delivered on the 21st, and I've still got nothing.

Am I imagining things or is there an OLW 2020 thread that exists but I can't find...? I didn't do OLW for 2019, and I was fine with it because I'm terrible at keeping up with that project. But I'm seriously thinking about doing it for 2020, but maybe in a journal format. We don’t have one yet. I’ve been meaning to create one because this year I signed up for the class and will stick with monthly check-ins (last year I bailed after July... the first time I’ve ever done that), but I was waiting until after Christmas because right now my focus is all on December Daily and Project Life catch up! I will try to create one later tonight or tomorrow if I have a chance on the computer (on my iPad quickly right now).

My UPS tracking number isn't working so I can't tell if it's been delivered and I forgot about it, or what state it's in.

Can someone confirm that the OWL class this year includes the main kit digitals? Per Ali’s blog post: “The workshop includes the digital version of the Main Kit + the prompt pages. The workshop will continue to feature 12 monthly prompts along with weekly email messages (new in 2019).“ This makes me want to do it more...still trying to decide if I should do it this year. I’ve failed every year by the summer 😑

When I tracked on my phone, the packages still haven't moved. When I tracked from my laptop, it says one will be delivered today, so we'll see. I'm pretty frustrated at this slow shipping.

I didn’t get it was about PL but I did wonder if it has to do with how her business seems to be struggling. Not much is selling out. Classes are not automatically hits. DD didn’t seem to be as big. If I were her, I’d be starting to wonder what was going to happen going forward.

Good points, that definitely could be behind it. I guess my mind went wondering in the PL direction just because it feels like it’s usually somewhere about now that she talks about her plans for documenting the upcoming year, and the Design A pp’s have long been a staple for her, but given it’s such a cryptic post I could be way off.

Does anyone else think this post of Ali’s might have something to do with the question marks over Project Life physical products? Is Ali discontinuing her SBTM kits? I know I canceled mine as the value wasn't there for me anymore and I didn't love the card patterns for 2020. I'm even at the point I'm going to start skipping Story kits for words that don't work for me vs getting them and pushing myself to "tell stories" I wouldn't normally tell.

She's not mentioned anything about quitting. I think she is just in a rut (I know, I know....it seems like she's been in a rut for years now).

Sure, it’s ok not to know what’s next if you have a roof over your head & food for your next meal.
If you have no idea how your going to acquire your next meal or how your going to pay this month’s rent, not knowing what’s next might freak you out.

I think mom could be right and it's just that she's in a rut. She didn't finish up DD until later and it seemed like her heart wasn't in it as much as usual. The pages are still great and inspiring and I think she still loves the project, she just seemed to burn out quicker than usual. But I think it might just be end of the year reflection/goal setting for next year. She also might want to expand her business even more next year and is trying to figure out what is right for her & her business. I think she might be torn between adding in some new project ideas and not overextending herself. She would probably need to cut out a project or hire another employee if she was going to expand without cutting back anything. She also might be reacting to KP shutting down and Brandi Kincaid (who has been on Ali's design team for years) no longer designing for FYC. I believe she mentioned that she is going to continue project life in her 9x12 monthly approach, I don't think she relies on the Design A page protectors anymore @knickknacknz because she's been using the 9x12 size which has its own page protectors (which she sells). She probably has plenty of Design A stashed away to finish her older albums. My guess is if she wants to go back to 12x12 at some point, she will start manufacturing those albums and page protectors herself. There is definitely a gap in the market and she is really one of the top players these days. I don't think she's canceling SBTM or any of her subs, I think they're all still doing great... the current story kit is waitlisted and I haven't seen that happen in awhile (it is a really good one with the addition of the gold foil). The only one that maybe isn't is doing as great is the "Just write" sub, but I think that's super easy for her and I don't think she was expecting it to be huge. It does have to be a lot though... she continues to add new subs/projects each year as she comes up with new ideas and inspiration strikes her... but she doesn't drop older projects, probably because a lot of her fanbase count on those projects each year. For example, could you imagine how upset people would be if she said she just wasn't going to do December Daily or Week in the Life or One Little Word one year?

I kind of read the photo as her transitioning her feed into OLW, as that tends to be the introspective project and the products/class usually include some of these supportive notes.

I would disagree with you - I think she often finishes publicly a few days before Christmas, and then finishes up and shows us the last few days some time in the next week or so. That's how I remember it going

If anyone has, Ali Edwards has certainly earned her own way. Her “privilege” if you wanna call it that. Being a business owner in an ever-changing niche market is definitely work and she’s a pillar. She’s earned her success.

@stamptastic She may have earned it, but that doesn't change the fact she is privileged.

That's how I remember it going She does, but usually it’s the 22 or 23 that she quits on, this year it was the 19th. She also usually comes back with the last couple pages on the 26 or 27 and now it’s NYE and she’s only posted through 21. It is likely the change had to do with her personal schedule and how they celebrated this year rather than burn out, but it still was earlier than usual and the catch up after Christmas is later than usual. ETA: I scrolled back in her blog on the DD tag to verify if I was remembering correctly and last year she posted Day 23 on the 24th and days 24 & 25 on the 26th.

They are doing those jobs that no one thinks is worth paying for Nobody's taking Ali's success away from her. It's the "It's okay to not know, it's okay for it to be grey, it's okay to not be in a hurry and have it all figured out" part that comes from a place of privilege. For most people, it's not okay to not know. You can't have this attitude when you're struggling to make ends meet. Ali's main market is in the US where 78% of workers live paycheck to paycheck. Financial comfort doesn't come to the vast majority of people who work hard and should qualify to "earn" it. It *is* a "self-help" quote coming from a place of privilege. And it *is* a toxic message for all those who can't afford such privilege. But what's new in the self-help world, right? Brené Brown may come from a background in psychology but she's now a brand and business thriving from a place of privilege, not someone catering or actually factoring in the masses. This article on Brené Brown's argument that we ought to show more empathy toward the privileged is an interesting read for anyone wondering what the problem (and, frankly, deafness) with Ali's favourite guru is.

She’s earned her success. Never said she didnt. But lots of people who work hard and don't ever get to see the view from privilege. The reality is most people don't get to just not know whats coming. And the not knowing is not a fun place to be in and certainly not somewhere many people want to celebrate being. And just for fun, I will throw in that its debatable if Ali is working hard these days or just phoning it in. But I suspect we wont ever agree on that either.
