I'm putting together a gift basket for an auction, thinking about a cozy fall theme, and racking my brain for some unique items to make it interesting. So far I am thinking of a luxury throw, candle, caramel popcorn, things of that nature. Any thoughts for something unique? I am not stuck to that theme, I can change it... also thought of a Christmas is around the corner theme..... Ideas welcome, I am usually putting together dollar store baskets lol, and can make this one a lot nicer!

What is your budget?
How about a kohl's throw (I've got a ton of blanket from a ton of places and it's my favorite! ), caramel corn, specialty tea or coffee, and a gift certificate to a local pumpkin patch or farm for a hayride?

Maybe a couple of mugs and some cider, or a nice thermos?

I like the Fall them, but the Christmas around the corner is a neat idea as well. Add some spiced tea and candy corn. Maybe a little scarecrow for the door or table. Fall gourdes and corn as fillers and pretties.

I would do a nice throw, a mug, tea, a book and a candle. No food.

Not sure where you're at, but in my neck of the woods, you can get real maple syrup from the Farmer's Market. The very smallest bottle is just $3. Or local honey (which would go well with tea, if you opted to put that in for a drink). We also have several local coffee roasters who have single-pot coffees in seasonal flavors. You can find them in the grocery store here as well. If you have a local chocolate shop, perhaps a four pack of their seasonal chocolates or something. Or just a specialty candy bar from somewhere (I always WANT the $5 candy bar, but never buy it at the store, but I might bid on it in a charity basket).

Gourmet hot chocolate and marshmallows, a set of quilted mug mat coasters, a fall themed table runner, apple cinnamon pancake or muffin mix.

Please do not put a scented candle in with food. I used to own and a gift basket company and that was one of the 1st things I was thought by others in the industry.

Do you have a Pier One nearby? They usually have nice fall decor like mercury glass pumpkins, decorative tableware, etc.

Great idea! I hope I remember to buy an extra Kohl's BF sale throw to stash for this purpose! And this reminds me the BF and holiday enabling threads are just around the corner. Can't wait!

Since I love fall so much, fall boxes/baskets are mu favourite. I just got a great fall subscription box and these were some of the items in there:
smoky sea salt printed flour sacking tea towel (I LOVE this. Maybe something printed on it like an old coffee grinder, steaming mug, etc) a beautiful trio of little glass condiment dishes a jar of orange cranberry sauce a box of toffee bit shortbread
I LOVE that box. It's my favourite subscription box so far.
I would not include candles.
Other ideas: hot/cold pack fuzzy socks a small pack of nuts or pumpkin seeds some calming or de-tox bath salts

I'm so glad you posted this question as I've volunteered to make a gift basket for our unit for an auction in November and I haven't started on it yet. Everyone has such great ideas! Thanks for sharing.

I like to find that one unique item for my basket and that sets the theme. Try to find something eye catching and that will give someone an incentive to buy your basket. I can buy a candle anywhere. But I may not have a cute football sign, pretty placemats, or a fun Santa for my collection.

Once I did a gift basket for an auction with a Tea for Two theme. 2 nice china cups, assorted tea flavors, place mats and cookies. I might have put in a fat candle, I don't remember.

I suggest a portable fire pit filled with two bags of fire logs, a utility lighter, a flashlight, two cozy throws, two oversized mugs, a box of hot cocoa mix, a family-sized box of Hershey bars, a family-sized box of graham crackers, at least two family-sized packages of large marshmallows, & a set of multicolored marshmallow roasting sticks. Use red & yellow tissue paper to fill in gaps & look like flames!

My go-to basket theme is barbecue, which would work well for a tailgate theme this time of year. I get an inexpensive small grill for the base, open the lid and fill with melamine plates, cups, napkins, tools, spices. Make it fancy or casual, whatever fits your budget. Homegoods is a good place to find a variety of colorful things. If you can't find a small grill this time of year, a basket would work.
