Anyone seen/done anything like this? How was it done? She says she doesn't want a photo booth...which I have never seen so not sure what that entails. Have You seen a book like this? Have you seen this done with a dslr and a printer? What kind of printer? Lots of ?? I know...thanks in advance.

I haven't seen this done in particular, but I don't think it would work well with a DSLR and photo printer. I think the genius of using the Polaroid is that it's quick and you can take a photo and immediately glue it in and sign the book. Super cute and not all that expensive if you buy the film cartridges on amazon.

Yes, but not w/ DSLR and printer. With an instant camera like in the photo. People just took pics by a backdrop. It was very easy for people to do on their own w/o an attendant.

No, but a wedding we were at recently the bride and groom had a shutterfly type book done with a few pictures of themselves and pages to write on - one was titled "what do you wish for the couple" and such - they wanted everyone to sign - most people didn't know what to do with it at first because it was not clear we were to write in the book.
For dd's wedding we are putting small books on each table with a note to write something for the happy couple to read on their anniversary - table 1 is the 1st anniv, table 2 the 2nd, and so on. ds and dil did this and they are having fun reading the books, the biggest puzzle is where my dad got the tape to tape a good luck penny in the book!

My friend's daughter had a photobooth setup with a laptop and a small printer. The people had their pics taken and they were printed on the spot. Everyone chose one of the four photos to put on their page of the book with their names and a message for the bride and groom. It was easy and cute.

I just went to a wedding recently where they did it with a Polaroid camera. It was so fun! The bride later complained to me that the kids used a lot of film so maybe watch for any little ones over doing it.

Or did your friend's daughter trust everyone with the electronics? I love my family but am pretty sure I wouldn't let a single one of them near my laptop. LOL.

I think a brother or cousin of the groom took care of the photos and printing. They only did it for a couple hours before and after dinner so it wasn't the whole reception. They used the laptop camera to take the pictures so they had it set up in the right place and then used software similar to Photobooth that would take count down and take four shots just like a photo booth. After taking the pics, it was automatically sent to the printer to print and all four 2"x2" shots printed on one 4x6 photo. It was pretty slick and didn't require a whole lot of input from the person operating it. I would think if you had an iPad or iPhone with the Photobooth app installed, a gorillapod and a stand and a portable printer, you could pretty much do the same thing with that.

DD & SIL did this at their wedding, using an instant camera (Instax, like the one in the picture in the OP). They loved the results. They just had it set up on a table with a backdrop, a blank book, photo-safe glue stick, & a few fun archive pens for people to write a message in the book with their photo. It was fun & simple.

My cousin did one for her wedding. She had 2-3 instant polaroid cameras, the book and some tape to put the pictures down. She did have a photo booth section set up if you wanted, but she just asked that you take your picture and write something. It seemed like it went over good. No, she didn't have anyone manning it. There were a lot of kids, but they never bothered the cameras.
