I'm always interested in hearing updates on situations and I know many others are also. But if a thread is pages long, I'm not going to go looking for the update and have to read pages and pages to do so.
If you put it right in your OP, it's easy to find and we all can easily see the update.
Thanks.

Yes! I've been saying this for years. Several change the title to say UPDATED, but don't put the actual update in the OP. If you can edit the title, you can add the update in the OP.
It's SO much easier to keep up with that way!

Can I add to your PSA?
When you do an update, please include the word *UPDATE*! It doesn't happen frequently, but sometimes the update follows the OP (or vise versa) with no separation. It makes it confusing to read.

I'd like to add on too When a post is updated - can the date be added. Sometimes there are several updates and I don't know when it was updated last so it can be hard to find the most recent one (some update at the top, some at the bottom of the OP) - it would be nice to have the date it was updated.

I was going to say the thing about the date too, particularly for threads with multiple updates. I want to be able to keep up on how things are going with people but never am sure which ones i read already

Speaking of updates, has anyone seen one from the Pea who was hearing/smelling things in and outside of her apartment, from a couple months ago? She thought someone was spying on her.

Yes. And also, if for some reason you want to put the update in a new reply instead of in the OP, please don't edit the title to read "update at bottom." Because the bottom quickly becomes "somewhere in the middle."

And if making life easier for your fellow peas isn't a great enough reason to update using the great list of suggestions given here, bear in mind that very often a person will read the OP and then comment, without reading the entire thread. So it is also advantageous to the original poster to update in the OP to prevent having to see 150 people comment on only part of the story because they didn't see any update(s) before posting.

Another option is clicking on the OP's name and viewing their recent posts.

Another option is clicking on the OP's name and viewing their recent posts. Yeah, I'm probably not going to do this. I have limited time to jump on here as it is. Some peas are such prolific posters and it might be days before I can check general threads. The one time I did this there were pages of posts from the person to get to the updates I was looking for. I vote for updating the main thread and dating it.

Another option is clicking on the OP's name and viewing their recent posts. And another is to click on the magnifying glass next to the search bar top right of the thread, choose 'Post created by' and put the poster's name in. That'll pull out just that person's posts in the thread, so it won't matter if they've posted on eleventy-million other threads since their update

Updating the OP is normal and expected. Updating the title and then replying separately someplace else is probably done to bring the thread to the top but it's just as easy to post a quick BTT reply and still put the update in the OP. It's the exact same amount of work.
I do click when the title says "UPDATE!" but the shits I give evaporate to zero when the update isn't in the OP. "Updated at bottom" really means "updated somewhere between pages three and nine" because of all the people who replied "so glad to hear that" after which the update is no longer at the bottom. I care but not enough to look that hard.

The one that cracks me up is when someone posts, "Update on last page!" Which is certainly true when they post, but once people reply, it often won't remain the last page. "Update on Page 5" doesn't work either, because the page numbers vary by viewing method (my computer is different than the Tapatalk app).

I too prefer updates on the first post, but there are some lengthier threads such as the one for Spencer, where I prefer to just jump to the last page to read the latest update.

How about everyone just update their threads that need updates!!! Then we wouldn't have to have the "can we get an update" threads anymore! :-)

What is funny is this has been requested so many times before. And everyone just does whatever they are going to do. You are all wasting your time...

I don't know if this is like this for all of the board themes, but in the theme I view in (the blue and white one that I think might be default), the original post has a green background, and then all of the OP's posts in that thread also have the green background. So sometimes if the update's not obvious but the thread isn't super long, I just scroll to find the next green post.
