I just came here to post the same notice. American Crafts has taken over the world. I am not at all happy about it.

Yikes. Pretty soon all we'll be able to buy is AC.

They wouldn't be able to get away with this in my country. We have tons of rules about business monopoly and companies have been refused the right to purchase another business if the law thinks they're owning too much of the market.

Well crap. I'll admit Bo Bunny can be hit or miss for me but I appreciate they offer an aesthetic that is different from the AC homogenised brands.

That is too bad. I loved the BoBunny style, their real colours, both of which more usable for me than the sketch art/ pastels in the AC lines. I had noticed they were moving away from a simple scrapbook layered page look lately and moving into the mixed media world with lots more dies and stencils and texture pastes, and was wondering what would come next. Guess now we know ...

We have tons of rules about business monopoly and companies have been refused the right to purchase another business if the law thinks they're owning too much of the market. There are certain restrictions. Like satellite radio needed ftc approval and had to be modified in order to proceed (they still have separate radios for each original company and broadcast some different material).

Sad to hear, but if the owner wants to retire, what are the options? It looks like Bo Bunny had a 20+ year run, which is a looooong time in this industry. Good for them!

So, what's going to happen to your Bo Bunny shares, nicolep? Does that simply mean your American Crafts portfolio has grown?

I was introduced to American Crafts in 2002 when I was the buyer for a LSS. I remember thinking that the AM Crafts brand would not last long. Anyone remember the muddy colors and the alphabet papers.
They must have a marketing genius to have become so successful.

BoBunny was pretty diverse from line to line...while I didn't like everything they did, there were some lines that I loved. I am a bit sad because I worry that it will lose the some of the uniqueness. It will be interesting to see how the brand evolves (or doesn't) under the AC umbrella.

No more collection packs. That is one thing that AC brands do not do that I hate. I don't like paper pads if I can avoid them!

Boo. I warned my mother to buy BoBunny stuff now before American Crafts cheapens it.
I know a couple of stores that carry a bunch of BoBunny, especially the mixed media stuff. I wonder how this move will impact them?

Eh, that's a shame. But it sounds like the other option was to close things down, so I guess at least some designers will keep their jobs and the brand won't disappear completely like others have. Either way there is less to choose from which sucks. Unfortunately a lot of these businesses are small and not really sustainable in the long term. They mostly seem to rely on one person.

I am with you on the paper pads. For some reason, in addition to the quality of the paper, I have trouble using paper pads. Sigh... SaveSave

So many of AC's papers look alike. I hope BB collections maintain their distinctive look and don't get absorbed into the AC assembly line designs.

BO Bunny is not my style, but I am hoping they don't become AC samey because they have such a distinct aesthetic and I know so many poeple love them just as they are.

nooooo!!! the Borg cannot be resisted, I guess-- everything eventually gets assimilated into the American Crafts collective. (geeky Star Trek reference, there.) Seriously, whenever I hear or see these announcements now, my stomach just falls... The scrapbook industry has changed SO MUCH in the 20-25 years I've been doing it, I don't like the 'sameness' thing happening.
