Sephora Rouge members have a soirée next Thursday night at the store. I texted DIL to see if she wanted to come over a day early and go wit,h me. I need new shampoo and conditioner and if you spend $50 you get a free goodie bag. She thought that was great. Finally I have a child interested in make up. I am really looking forward to this. It will be fun.

Have you always been into makeup and skin care? If not, what was your turning point?
Yes and no, I have gone in ebbs and flow. Right now I feel like I have learned so much in the past few months from youtubers. Prior to that I feel like I was flying blind on my own
What are your top five cannot live without products?
ABH Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette Two Faced love flush blush the shade "love hangover" Estee Lauder foundation Urban Decay Vice lipstick in the shade "rapture" Boots No.7 Translucent powder
Do you have some bloggers you follow?
Lisa J (love her, she is a great teacher) Emily Noel Allie Glines
What about your haircare?
I don't do anything special.
Do you have a makeup spot or vanity?
I have all my makeup in the master bathroom, in a drawer with organizers; nothing special. I use the giant mirror there.

Makeup remover: I am going away in Sept and I will wear very little makeup but I like my mascara and lipstick a lot. Micellar water is too drying for makeup removal, makeup wipes don’t take off my makeup at all. They also burn my eyes and I hate the smell. I have Bye Bye makeup and I could get take the Day Off or something else. Space is limited that’s the problem. If I transferred some cleanser into a smaller container would that work? I have a small container I just remembered. It’s a Rubbermaid one I bought for something. Get something else? Is there something better I don’t know about?

Ok the Too Faced Hangover setting spray is way too strong a mist. I am not impressed at all. I will try it one more time and if it still sucks I will take it back. One spray was too much for my face. 👎🏻

I got a 2 pack at Costco but find the microfiber cloths from dollar tree work too ( but are Not as soft) I find them easy to travel with. They roll up small in my makeup case and hang to dry overnight. Recently a bought a stick cleanser from St Ives that I do like for travel too- no spilling.

ETA There are tabs on the Sephora website and I read the how to use part. Anyway it’t the same as other balms. Looks wonderful!

Hi I went to my dermatologist’s office yesterday to pick up some samples they were holding for me. I tried on some mineral sunscreen. I am so excited about this. It’s a powder in a tube and it’s awesome! I am so happy with it! The technician told me I should get 6 months of use out of it. I think I paid $70 including tax. I am really happy! (They seem to really like me because I sold another one to someone else waiting in the waiting room. I showed her how you can’t see it and she said HOW DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS??? I got an email that morning. She was as excited as I was!)

Probably a stupid question, but isn't there something "special" about the makeup erasers that make them work with just water, or are they just really soft microfiber? Delta Dawn if you like Clinique's Take the Day off cleanser, they make wipes. I have a travel pack that came in a set, but I haven't tried them yet. I like how easily the balm works, but I'm not a huge fan of having to dig it out of the tub and the feeling of wiping something greasy on my face. I also don't like it for eye makeup because I feel like I'm smearing mascara all over.

DD's summer job is working at Ulta. They normally get 25% off as an employee discount but are having a special now that gives them 35% off. We just stocked up on a ton of essentials. I wasn't planning on getting any new make up, but a Buxxom lip liner and gloss accidentally fell into my bag. :-)
A neighboring Ulta (not the one DD works at) started carrying Chanel, so she's going to stop by and pick up a new Perfection Lumiere Velvet for me...it's my favorite foundation and normally I can only find it at Nordstrom.

Find cheap travel size products that are in a container that is the size/type you need for your nicer products. Dump out the cheap stuff and refill it with your good stuff. I use baby shampoo bottles like this for my face wash and hair products when I travel. I use the freebie contact lens cases that come with each bottle of solution for moisturizer, eye makeup remover, eye cream, etc. i label each container with a sharpie.

So this is an honest question - I have never used makeup remover for anything except the rare time I've worn waterproof mascara or the various stay-on-forever lipsticks. I just use my regular face wash (Cerave), and it seems to work fine. Do you all not find that with your cleansers? I'm just trying to understand why there are so many makeup removers out there.

I want to know why so many do nothing to take off my makeup! I have heard from several sources that Cerave is excellent. It works, it is not irritating and is good. Dr. Drea uses it. So does Dr. Davin Lim I think.

Most of the time I just use whatever I'm washing my face with, not a special makeup remover first, mostly because I'm lazy. I like makeup wipes just because they're so easy, but they don't seem to ever take it all off, so I'll follow up with micellar water on a cotton square.

But I picked up several other micro fiber cloths at Dollar Tree and they work just as well, but aren’t quite as soft... worth trying for sure.

I have tried about 5 brands, though. Should I try them? They are the Sephora brand.

I just bought a package of the watermelon ones a few days ago but haven't opened them yet. My skin isn't really sensitive though so I'm not a good judge. When I open them, I'll have Britt try one and see if it that kind irritates her skin. Costco brand wipes don't bother her either, but she can't use the Neutrogena ones, so I've been working my way through the huge box I bought there on my own.

I will get coconut or watermelon at Sephora then and see how I do. Neutrogena kills my eyes. Also the smell really bothers me. Maybe fruity ones will be better. I am always willing to try. I also can’t use eye makeup remover on my eyes but it works on lipstick. I never wear waterproof mascara but it is stuck on for days.

Hi I am going to go to Sephora in a while and want to get a new lip gloss. I am wondering if there is anything that is not sticky nor minty. I tried the one from Fenty and my hair got in it terribly. Is there anything else I should try?
ok forget that. I just found a good/great one that is unsticky and pretty. It’s by NARS and I am liking it a lot.

Hi well I had to see how long it would take to get from my future home to point B and point B was the mall with Sephora. It is very close (in case you were interested. I know I was).
i had a bit of fun inside. I got the Tatcha One Step Camelia Cleansing Oil. I will try it tonight. I bought the Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with rose clay. My skin still feels wonderful from it. The final thing I bought were coconut wipes. I was going to get Watermelon but I don’t like the smell of watermelon as much as coconut. Trial and error. I am excited, though.
We we could have a weekly or monthly show and tell what you learned or bought. Is anyone interested in this?

Remember that I said I was bummed that I wasn't getting my Sephora Play box this month due to having to get a new check card? I even signed up under my DH's name after they said mine wasn't getting shipped, but then they said that his wasn't shipping this month either. Ugh. Anyway, I got home from being out of town and BOTH boxes came! And my Ipsy box came, which I hadn't even changed the card info yet for that since I thought I wanted to cancel anyway. I am totally shocked! I still didn't get the Drunk Elephant Protini in either box, which I Really wanted, but I am excited to try the other products. I was interested in everything this month.

Beauty Peas! What is your favorite toner? What’s your favorite serum (if you use it)?
I'm currently using Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid toner. Don’t hate it, but I don’t necessarily love it enough to repurchase. I love the price though. The only thing I hate is that it seems to take a long time to dry on my face, unless I’m using too much. Also I’ve only used it for a month, twice a day, and I’m already halfway through the bottle.
I’m using a Shiseido Glow Revival Serum and I like it but I’m definitely open to a less expensive alternative. It’s for evening out tone, reducing redness and other signs of aging.
