I will join you all! I have been following the Whole30 model but not strictly enough. I have noticed my clothes fit better and a small weight loss on the scale.I'm ready to get serious and lose my extra weight. Some non scale victories (NSV) are I gave up sugar and artificial sweeteners.I really enjoy a flavored seltzer at the end of the day. During the day I drink water.I'm prone to horrible leg cramps if I don't drink enough water. I don't eat grains mostly because my digestive system can't tolerate them.I'm interested in learning about Keto and trying IF.

The waiting to eat until 11:00 has been the most challenging for me, more so because I am a creature of habit. I haven't actually felt hungry while waiting. Breakfast is typically two slices of light Dave's Killer Bread, an egg and two slides of Canadian bacon. I also work from home and lunch is almost always left overs from dinner. Dinner is a lean protein and veggies. Last night I made Balsamic Chicken and Roasted Veggies Earlier this week I made a Loaded Taco SkilletFor the chicken dish I used what veggies I had on hand (butternut squash, Brussel sprouts, red onions, asparagus, beets and carrots. With the skillet I added a bunch of chopped mushrooms. I pretty much always added extra veggies to whatever recipe I am making. I've been eating three meals in my 8 hour timeframe, but much smaller quantities. I'm also not snacking. With just WW, I was finding it a struggle to only eat my 30 points and not feel like I needed to snack. This weekend will be challenging as I am going to a four day crop. We all take turns cooking, but luckily post our menus before hand. I am bringing some of my own food to supplement or replace the meals that I shouldn't eat. Hopefully I can stay disciplined. I will still attend a Saturday WW meeting, just one closer to the crop instead of my own. I'm going to a four day crop / girls weekend this weekend as well. I'm really struggling, because like you, we all take turns and each week one meal. I know what I make will be what I need to eat, but I can't control what anyone else makes. Like you, I'm bringing my own snacks and a few extra things so if a meal someone makes is two calorie-laden, I can just eat a small portion and try to supplement with the food I've brought with me.

I'd like to join in. I'm working with a nutritionist that has me avoiding grains, sugars, and dairy, so it naturally falls into the lower carb end of diets. My weight loss actually started before working with the nutritionist due to what are essentially customized mouth guards that I have to fix some jaw issues. The goal with the nutritionist isn't actually weight loss, it's to lower inflammation to support the work on my jaw. I will take the weight loss though! LOL I'm down over 10 pounds in the last couple of months and would love to see another 50 or so to melt off.

What do you eat for a typical day according to the plan the nutritionist helped you create? Were the changes hard?

Checking in! I'm finding it easy to limit my meals between 1 or 2pm and 7 or 8pm. I'm just not hungry in the morning...I have a black coffee then go to the gym. I make my lunch after that. One slice of high fibre, low or no sugar bread with some low fat sliced ham and cheese and a fried egg white. I have this open-faced sandwich pretty much every day and I never get tired of it! 😄
I've been having a snack around 4pm. Usually Finn Crisp with cheese or a turkey pepperoni stick. The Finn Crisp really fills my craving for crunchy snacks.
I've been eating a smaller portion of dinner and trying to go fairly low carb with that. Nothing in the evening except a cup of herbal tea. That said, it's only been a few days! I have a vacation coming up at the end of November so that's extra motivation at this point. Good luck all!

Breakfast on a typical day is spinach in scrambled eggs with some other veggie like a half an avocado or something leftover from dinner like squash. Lunch is usually leftovers or some kind of soup. Salads are tough to eat right now because the mouth guard is supposed to stay in even when I'm eating. Dinner is meat and veggies. Tonight for example was rotisserie chicken with broiled zucchini, mashed potatoes, and cucumber slices. The changes weren't hard for me. I've done low carb diets before, I'm a pretty good cook, and I'm used to working around limited food options because I've been diagnosed with a variety of allergies or intolerances over the years. My child is seeing the same nutritionist so she's basically on the same plan too.

I eat as much as I want unless it falls into the grains/sugars/dairy categories. I had lunch at my mom's house today so I had a sandwich with soup and veggies but I only used one slice of bread.

Day 2 of Keto diet and so far so good. I was a little light-headed yesterday but I am doing better today! It might be "Keto flu" I usually have some broth and that takes care of it. They say salt and pickle juice can help with that too!

It is finally chilly here in the Midwest too which makes me so happy! lol I have made bone broth a few times in the crockpot, but it never sets up to be thick and gelatinous the way it should. I was actually considering buying an instant pot since I've heard those are good for making broth. Seems to be an expensive way to make broth, so I've been trying to find other Keto recipes I might like before I make that leap. Going strong so far this week as far as diet goes. I've been finding it surprisingly easy to fast past 16 hours for some reason. Considering I spent the weekend eating pizza, I thought it would be harder. I've been doing 17-18 hours this week, having one really good meal and a smaller snack size each day.

Checking in, too! I've been sort of easing into it After a few weeks of indulgence--travel, birthday, etc.--I am reluctant to weigh myself. I'm starting IF this week, and will start back tracking my WW points, but probably not low-carb quite yet. I fasted from Sunday dinner to Monday dinner and plan to fast from tonight until dinner tomorrow. The fasting is much easier than I thought it would be--lots of water and a cup of green tea in the afternoon have helped. Tomorrow will be a test since it's the first time I'll be trying to get through a long day at the office without a food break. Maybe I'll take a long walk and have a little more tea.

Checking in. Waiting until 11 was hard today. But scale was happy. -3.5 lbs since Sun. I just need to get through this week. Carb withdrawl kills me for about 5 days, then it gets so much better and easier.

Hi there! I am doing a combination of trim healthy mama and 5:2. So far my week has been good, although it is amazing how many opportunities there are for making bad choices.
I fasted Saturday (on 5:2 fasting is less than 500 calories that day) and Wednesday. I've been on track all week except Tuesday night. DS had an away game and it was 7:30 by the time it was over. I planned to eat at McDonald's and get a salad but the only place close by was Culver's. And I didn't get a salad.

It's Monday morning here on the East Coast, and its finally "chilly". How you all doing? Has anyone actually made "bone broth"? I may try to make some this week. I make it often. I use my pressure cooker but the crock pot works as well. I use a whole organic chicken. Cook it first, then take the meat off and put the rest back in the pot ( I leave some skin in for flavor). Add carrots, onion, celery tops, garlic, etc. Can be rough chipped. Add 1/4 c apple cider vinegar to help get the minerals out of the bones. Fill with water. In the pressure cooker I cook for 75-90 min. In the crockpot about 24 hours. When it's done I strain it. I usually freeze some in silicone loaf mini loaf pans and then have some for just drinking plain or using in recipes that week.

Bumping the thread! Everyone ready to get started tomorrow? My goal for this coming week is to continue weaning myself off of soda. To finish reading The Obesity Code and to start moving my breakfast from normal time of 7 am to later in the morning-9:30. So that I can prepare to begin fasting later on with a start time of 11 am. Not going to try to do too many things at once because I personally fail when I have an "all or nothing" approach. What's your plan for the week? 😊 How are you doing with weaning off the soda? I had cut it out for about 6-8 weeks last spring but am now drinking it again. I've been buying it at the gas station when out and about (I drive a lot for work). Yesterday I bought an 8 pack of the small bottles and when that is gone, I am going to be done. The small bottles will help me gradually cut down and hopefully make the cravings and withdrawal easier.

I was doing good with the soda and down to one per day, and then I had a frustrating day and now I am drinking more the last two days. I am conscious of it and know this is an ongoing challenge. It's not easy! I wish I drank coffee, or tea or something else to help with having something else to drink...but I don't drink anything except juice, water and soda.

I've been going since January. Our local hospital got a grant to do a weight loss/health and wellness program that you had to apply and be accepted into. I was really lucky because the community health nurse in charge of it is my BFF... so I had an in. I applied because I knew if I joined I couldn't quit or I'd really disappoint her. I didn't want to even do it. lol. I've still got at least 50 to go. I'm just looking at it 5 pounds at a time though. I share on fb every 10 pounds and so that's been a great motivator for me.

I also got some sweetleaf flavors to try, but didn't like them as much. It is helping me with water intake.
