A few of the Peas are going to start an IF/Keto/low carb challenge. Anyone who is trying to eat healthy, change some habits, or willing to cheer us on, please check in here.
We are going to start Monday, October 16th. I set the thread up for 7 days. We can start a new thread the week after if we like.
I guess to start, we can share our plans/goals.
I am going to read the Obesity Code and begin fasting on Monday. Haven't done it before. Will also be working on cutting down my soda consumption this week to be ready for Monday. I don't have a specific weight loss goal for the 7 days. Would just like to commit to something and finish the week. That would be good progress to begin with.

I'm in! I've been doing IF since June and I really like it. I currently do two 24 hours fasts a week and 16:8 most other days except Saturday. I'd like to either add another 24 hour fast or combine two days into a 48 hour fast.

I've been doing Weight Watchers since Nov. This past week I added in IF. Currently doing 16:8. I'm going away for a long scrappy weekend and plan on trying a 24 fast Sunday to Monday when I return.
I've got a little less than 30 lbs to get to my goal weight. Lately on WW I've been alternating staying flat or a small loss with a larger loss (2lb) . I'm hoping the IF will help me avoid the small/flat losses. I am still sticking to my points while doing IF.

I've started with low carb about 2 years ago and honestly don't know what I weighed- somewhere around high 120's, but I'm only 5'2". I looked at a Christmas pic and thought OMG do I really look like that? I have always been in the gym but had gotten slack over those last few months... So I immediately started low carbing and working out daily. I dropped down to around 120 and then I stalled for MONTHS- I know I added muscle, but still disheartening to not see the numbers on scale drop. Decided to try keto and computed my macros, but don't really check everyday to see if I have enough fat. I hover around 117 now, but it's my little belly that drives me insane. Did an egg fast for about 4 days and it was flat flat, but then of course after I added in a few veggies the little pooch appeared again... Sooo, my goal is to still work on the pooch.

Sigh, I'm in. I've gained about 15 lbs since my mom died 2 years ago. That's also when I started keeping grandkids every day. I think my weight gain is due to lots of peanut butter & goldfish. And a couple of glasses of wine at night after they go home. I gotta stop that habit. I have a wedding to go to soon & I have a dress to wear. My middle is not attractive. I have been reading the Obesity Code thread & am ready to do it. Starting today.

I'm currently down 35 lbs from my heaviest weight, but I have more to lose. Just a month ago, I was 5 lbs lighter, but I've fallen back into some of my bad habits. But I'm ready to give it another go, with PBWF, IF, and exercise. And I'm kicking it all off with a colonoscopy tomorrow WoooHooo! Can't wait

I did IF about 3 years ago & lost a bit of weight. At the time I felt like it would be the way I would eat forever. But when my partner quit doing 5:2 so did I & the weight lost was found. (he kept his weight off)
I found out this week that I am T2 diabetic & have started on Metformin. I want to do a low-carb to get my glucose levels back where they should be. Right now I'm reading the Blood Sugar Diet & will read the Obesity Code when I finish that.

I am down 44 lbs and I think I I'd like to lose another 10. doing IF and recently added no sugar (artificial or real) and that has been the game changer for me. It's MUCH easier to lose weight without sweeteners-I am not nearly as hungry, and I don't have cravings as bad as I am used to.
I tend to fall off the wagon every couple weeks and it's really hard getting back on, but I feel a lot better with no sugar

I am a type 2 diabetic who would like to lose a total of 75 lbs. My doctor would probably say I need to lose more but I'd be over-the-moon happy at 75. It's very difficult for me to lose weight consistently. I started IF on May 15. At the same time I eliminated all artificial sweeteners and said goodbye to my beloved Diet Coke. As a vegetarian, I strive for a low/good carb diet. I also increased my daily activity.
I lost just over 25 lbs in about 3 months and then virtually nothing since then. I guess the good news is I have not started gaining. So I increased my activity, walking in excess of 55 miles a week. I vary my fasting hours between 16 and 20 hours a day and haven't cheated once since I started in May. I haven't tried a 24 hour fast but I might give it a try this time. I also think it might be time to get back to the gym for some weight lifting.
I had a check up at the end of September and my doc was extremely pleased with my results. My A1C took a pretty big drop. My doc who gave me the side eye when I mentioned IF about 2 years ago, said he thought IF was very good for diabetics.
I'd like to get back to losing again. Hopefully, this support group will give me the needed push.

I fall off the wagon (which ever one I'm currently on) every couple weeks. I am pre-diabetic, and want to lose 25lbs. I had my best results with Keto. I've read the Obesity Code and the science makes so much sense. I want to try IF but will wait until I have the diet nailed down again. I recommitted yesterday. I don't want to give up my Diet Coke again, but I've noticed I start getting cravings when I drink it, so it's going to have to go.

I’m in. I have had a HORRIBLE year full of health problems (not mine, mostly) and stress. I’ve totally slacked on my cardio and gained more weight than I like. I gotta get it in check.
What has worked for me is healthier eating every day (lowER carb, no restaurant food) with one treat/cheat dinner out a week (date night). And running. I haven’t run in a year, and it shows. Running has been my best cardio. I already do weights 2-3 times a week, but that intense cardio is what I need to lose weight. Plus it’s good for my heart!
Anyway. Hi.

I'm in! My weight has been going up steadily since I lost a lot back in 2005/06. It really jumped after a death in the family and then six sinus infections and multiple steroid treatments in a little over a year. I have been nearly back up to my highest weight from right after our twins were born. Ugh!
This year my DS1 is a senior and I decided that was it! I'm NOT going to be hiding from all the photos in his senior night baseball and graduation pics! I want to run. I want to swim (and not just alone in our pool), I want to wear cute clothes again, I want to learn to ski, I want to roller skate and ride horses like I did when I was a kid! I want my life back!!! (You get the idea!)
So I started doing keto and am going to a clinic for official weigh ins once a week. I'm also keeping a food/weight journal. Since Sept 21st I've lost 10 lbs. and I feel like I'm on the right track again. My energy level is already way up and I'm surprisingly not craving anything or constantly hungry. I've really been amazed that I'm not snacking at all, when I was all the time before! And now my DH has joined me! Very happy about that!

I am going to read the Obesity Code and begin fasting on Monday. Fasting is far easier once you drop the carbs. If you haven't done that first, you might want to take it easy on the fasting until you are eating less carbs daily. In started with 12 hours and moved up to 16 as I dropped the carbs.. kind of in tandem.

Hi - I'm interested I joining! I have been doing a low carb plan since Feb of this year and have lost about 65 pounds. I still need to lose about 15 pounds. In the past month I hadn't lost anything and I've lost my focus- esp the last week or so:(. So , I'm excited to join for ideas and inspiration! I need to research about IF because it sounds interesting and I'm hopeful it might help me jumpstart my weight loss.

I'm in. I've doing IF - 18:6 for the past week and it's been pretty easy for me. I'm not doing zero carbs but severely limiting them and I feel a big difference. What's the take about artificial sugars? I love my diet coke and can't imagine giving it up. I would like to lose 40 lbs.

Totally not good for you. Ideally you would only be eating/drinking things in their natural state. SaveSave

Few questions:
Someone asked if we can do any kind of plan. Sure Just a place to offer support to one another. Please don't post negative comments about what another Pea is doing for their plan. Support is welcome, but let's be nice. Everyone loses weight differently. What works for one, may not work for another. I set it up for 7 days so that we could start another thread for a new week. I think the threads could become long. Just an idea. I can take the date off of it.
My book, "The Obesity Code" arrived yesterday. I am a little disappointed at first glance. A lot of background information, but only a small portion of the book is devoted to the "plan". I am trying to find more information online. Those of you who have done this before will be a great source of information and inspiration to me. : )

Are you feeling less bloated? What are you eating in the 6 hours? One big meal, two meals? I am going to start this next week and I don't know how to decide which hours to eat.

I gained a lot of weight this summer myself. I have a very bad case of plantar fasciitiis and have not been able to exercise in 15 months. My weight is higher than it has ever been. Have been doing everything my podiatrist says, but still suffering. Currently wearing a walking boot with the hopes to avoid surgery since they discovered a tear in my recent MRI. 10 pounds is a good goal. I have much to lose, but I think I will also plan for 10 pounds. Something measurable and do able for me at the moment. Hope we can be buddies. : )
