I make it often. I use my pressure cooker but the crock pot works as well. I use a whole organic chicken. Cook it first, then take the meat off and put the rest back in the pot ( I leave some skin in for flavor). Add carrots, onion, celery tops, garlic, etc. Can be rough chipped. Add 1/4 c apple cider vinegar to help get the minerals out of the bones. Fill with water. In the pressure cooker I cook for 75-90 min. In the crockpot about 24 hours. When it's done I strain it. I usually freeze some in silicone loaf mini loaf pans and then have some for just drinking plain or using in recipes that week. iamkristinl16 , I have never made bone broth. Do you take the meat off and use for dinner? Also, do you just put the bones back in? You could use the meat for that meal or you can save it for another meal that uses diced chicken. I put the bones/carcass in along with some of the skin. And also any veggies or spices that you want (I typically use what I listed above so that it is good on its own but also in any recipe). I love just drinking it straight from the crock pot or pressure cooker (after being put through a colander). There are whole cookbooks with different recipes using various spices, different meats, etc. But I haven't been too adventurous.

How are you doing with weaning off the soda? I had cut it out for about 6-8 weeks last spring but am now drinking it again. I've been buying it at the gas station when out and about (I drive a lot for work). Yesterday I bought an 8 pack of the small bottles and when that is gone, I am going to be done. The small bottles will help me gradually cut down and hopefully make the cravings and withdrawal easier. I bought Stur water enhancer. Pineapple tastes ok. I also got some sweetleaf flavors to try, but didn't like them as much. It is helping me with water intake. I like True Lime and True Lemon packets. I also make my own "soda" using the juice of 1/2 of a lime and 1/2 of a lemon, a few tiny scoops of pure stevia powder, plain sparkling water and ice. I actually like the taste better than diet mountain dew, but of course it doesn't have caffeine. Zevia is ok as well.

I'm in - I've fallen off the wagon and am feeling the effects; need to get into gear with eating (I do primal/Mark Sisson's approach to carbs) and exercising again. I was feeling great earlier this year, I don't know what happened exactly.

0.5 lbs down this week. Was just happy to see the scale budge. Lost 2 lbs in the first week of this month, breaking a plateau and was starting to worry that this would be it for the month. Since I started in May with cutting sugar and carbs in general, I've lost anywhere from 3 to 5 lbs each month. That's counting the first calendar month which was really only 2 weeks. I have 12 lbs until I hit a normal BMI, probably 19 until my ultimate goal, but I'm not really sure what that is going to be. missbennet, thanks for mentioning Mark Sisson's Primal approach. As I've relaxed aiming for a true ketogenic diet a bit out of necessity, I'm probably eating around 20-60g of carbs with most days probably around 40-60. I like how he breaks it down on his intro page. Nice to read another source with a similar approach plus the exercise component. It's really a full lifestyle approach which is nice!

Anyone just need to lose 5-10 lbs? I weigh between 117 and 120 on bad days. I have been STUCK at this weight for over a year- down from around 128. I do lazy keto- maybe I need to really start counting macros? Now, I do lift weights, but the scale should still move. I have done cardio on and off, but hate it. I did start back walking on treadmill every day- 2 miles in 30 minutes- going to increase mileage but probably not pace. I am 58 years old and have a little poochy belly that I want gone!

So, I started this diet on the first of October and weighed 220 according to my old school scale with the needle and teeny tiny lines between the big numbers that are 20 pounds increments. So it was hard to tell what I lost or (sometimes) gained. I was hoping to get to the 10 pound mark before the end of the month.
Well I ended getting the flu. I went to urgent care on Tuesday of last week. They weighed me and it was over 221. The last tick I saw on my old school scale was around 212-214. I knew my clothes didn't weigh 9 lbs and I doubt I had gained that much in a few days!
So I broke down and bought a new digital scale. Sigh. The clinic's scale was right. So, now I don't know what my actual weight was when I first started. Plus, I'm using MFP to keep track and I entered 220 as my starting weight. Which is wrong. So it's throwing everything off! LOL!
So I think I will use both scales for now. When I can see the needle hover directly over the 210 lb mark, then I can weigh myself on the new scale and figure out approximately how much my starting weight was.
On a good note, the new scale registered 219.8 on Wednesday. Today it was 217.6!

Hi guys, Sorry I have been MIA. Boyfriend's 25th College Reunion was this past weekend. He told me that his friend was coming to town, but staying "somewhere else". Well, Weds morning around lunch time I found out he was "on his way" and staying with us.... Needless to say it was a crazy couple of days. I feel like my house became a Frat House for 5 days. Guest just left and I am exhausted, and not very happy with the BF. Anyhow...you all are doing great!
