Oh goodness! You are so correct! I am often dismayed by the amoral language on this board. I come here to find women who think and speak just like me. I am uncomfortable with those who do not reflect my culture and values. I find I must chastise them and make sweeping generalizations aon occasion to shame them into submission or to just express my moral superiority. That's much more satisfying and effective than working to understand differences. When bfing my 27 month old, he often will say, "Mother, I can tell your vital nourishment has been tainted by those horrendous peas once again." When my littles can sense I have the aura of vulgarity surrounding me, it's time go mamma bear on the uncouth liberal peas. They will certainly acquiesce and submit to my kind words and genteel nature. On another note, My DH says, "Mother, thank you for being such a wonderful kind protector of the santicity of language and taste in not only our blessed home but also on social media and unmoderated message boards." #blessed. #mammariesarebest #bestmother #guardianofthewords #imthekindone I f%^#ing love you.

I find it vulgar that people get more upset over a well-placed "swear word" every now and then, than they get upset over people living in pain and misery while others live lives of lavish, profligate consumption. But, hey, that's me. I'm not upset. Just pointing out something I noticed. Of course I'm more concerned with human suffering. That was quite a leap. But, hey, swear words aren't well-placed on this board. They are common. I understand using a word here or there for emphasis, but that's not the case here. It appears that your observations have been faulty. Perhaps check out some of the excellent links showing the opposite of what you've posited.

Bugger is my particular favourite. Is that a curse word? Seriously. I've heard 'bugger that' but it sounds too much like booger to have the curse word effect to me. And now I have devolved in to my 9 year old boy sense of humor to ask a serious question.

From the article linked below: "According to their findings, people who use ‘taboo words’ are actually more likely to be fluent in mundane, neutral words. ‘People who use taboo words understand their general expressive content as well as nuanced distinctions that must be drawn to use slurs appropriately,’ the researchers wrote. ‘The ability to make nuanced distinction indicates the presence of more rather than less linguistic knowledge.’ Another study used technology to test thousands of Facebook statuses searching for people who use swear words and for words that indicate deception. The study found that those who used swear words were more likely to be honest. So basically, if you swear like a sailor you’re honest and intelligent. Psychology articleHonesty and intelligence are good qualities. So is self-control. My. You certainly have some “interesting” viewpoints. Not speaking for other Peas, but not one word gets posted on this board by me that isn’t scrutinized and often revised and edited for clarity. You can be sure that every fuck I post comes from a place of extreme self-control.

Fuck, fuck, fuck. Fuck, I don't know any other fucking words. Fuck. Were you a victim of poor parenting or unionized teaching? I'm just wondering if this post was supposed to demonstrate the grace and class that you clearly feel is characteristic of you. Because to me it read as a nasty jab and isn't consistent with what you are trying to say here. Oftentimes it seems to me that people who want to talk about how classy they are, just end up kind of showing their butt a little.

I found in the more than half a century that I have been alive that there are things that can and have been said that are more vulgar than a few curse words.

It's so sad that you have to come onto the board and bait people for, what, attention? Because that's exactly what you're doing. You're being a blatant troll. Did you not get enough attention when you were a kid? I'm not a troll and definitely not a blatant troll. I've been here a long time and on the old board. I'm just not popular. I'm sorry if it offends you that I found my voice and posted. It seems that profanities show up around the 3rd post of any thread and "Trump" before we get off the 1st page. These are things that can be measured. Awww, poor baby. You know maybe you would be more popular if you pulled that stick out of your ass and stopped trolling and stirring shit. No one likes a humorless, thoughtless attention whore. A little humor and a few fucks would go a long way to improving your popularity.

Speaking of linguistics, I think I’ve determined who you are in your other incarnation on this board. Your style and manner of speech is very specific. Why do you post under two different names when both express similar opinions? Mama, I've made it! I've been researched! When was the last time I posted under my "alternative" id? Oh darling, I have no time to research you. I'm sorry to disappoint you. You just aren't that interesting.

No, societies have standards. That's why we feel shock and outrage when leaders don't show self-control. Are you continuously outraged by our current president?

But, hey, swear words aren't well-placed on this board. They are common. I understand using a word here or there for emphasis, but that's not the case here. How do you believe this? I need examples. I've never seen anybody use a curse word that wasn't thought out or did not help clarify or intensify your point. Also, your understanding on using a "word here or there" for emphasis is an interesting level of dissent from your OP. So if we ALL use just ONE word here or there we are ALL doing it wrong? You are fucking slaying me (used for emphasis, sarcastically of course, but nonetheless, emphasis).

Using swear words is more of a reflection of a persons attitude or a reflection of how they are feeling at that particular moment than a reflection on upbringing, vocabulary or education.
A Holier than thou attitude and the need to constantly chastise other people is often a reflection of low self esteem which can be a result of poor upbringing or lack of a varied wide ranging education.

I would recommend that "putain" is the best starter swear word for French students. It can be used in many different ways, but just a simple "PUTAIN!" is often good in situations that call for some sort of remark. No conjugations, just one word. It's probably not something you want to say in front of little old ladies you don't know, but then again...I've heard plenty of little old ladies use it themselves. I second this advice. If you know this word in French, you can easily learn the Italian, Spanish and Portuguese equivalents. Very lazy in keeping with the OPs non-union teacher mom's equally lazy stereotype.
