Of all the massive issues and problems faced by this country, THIS is what you’ve chosen to be outraged about?!!! Are you for real? Who says I'm outraged? I've merely pointed out the heavy use of profanities by certain peas.

From the article linked below: "According to their findings, people who use ‘taboo words’ are actually more likely to be fluent in mundane, neutral words. ‘People who use taboo words understand their general expressive content as well as nuanced distinctions that must be drawn to use slurs appropriately,’ the researchers wrote. ‘The ability to make nuanced distinction indicates the presence of more rather than less linguistic knowledge.’ Another study used technology to test thousands of Facebook statuses searching for people who use swear words and for words that indicate deception. The study found that those who used swear words were more likely to be honest. So basically, if you swear like a sailor you’re honest and intelligent. Psychology article

Were you a victim of poor parenting or unionized teaching? You really have it out for Unions and teachers don't you?? How about you tell us what you do for a living so we can criticize you. For crying out loud..Grow up already. You could get your point across about the poor vocabulary on this board without attacking us who are teachers and unionized. Commenting on TWO threads about unions doesn't mean I have it out for you. I'm not attacking...that's dramatic. I have great respect for teachers.

So what is our favorite "liberal" curse word?
I find that a well placed fuck - using the right intonation - to be quite expressive. I find that even when talking with under educated conservatives clearly understand my feelings and thoughts (#sorrynotsorry).
I find that when I use shit as a description - i.e. "Look at all the shit on this board" - that I do feel lazy. It's a great word in anger, frustration and sometimes a great description. But I will admit, OP, that when I use shit in a sentence it is usually because I'm too fucking angry to rely on my vast education to find an appropriate adjective to describe my feelings.
Motherfucker is a perfect word when describing people that deserve it. I promise I have never used that word out of laziness. Usually anger, i.e. "Trump is one dangerous motherfucker." Sure, I absolutely could elaborate but we all know what I meant. Now, I'll admit the historic connection to this word makes me think before I use it. I do not like that and try to be cognizant about it's origin.
Damn - meh, this is child's play. I usually use it when I am around sensitive, judgmental motherfuckers or when I need to make a point that doesn't call for a fuck.
Hell - hell yeah! Who doesn't say this? It's excitement! I could absolutely not use it and go with a yeah! But, we all know yeah is not nearly enough when expressing certain amounts of joy, i.e, "Would you like to see affordable healthcare that actually protects the reproductive rights of women?" Hell yeah!
Bastard - not my favorite. I only use this in extreme anger. i.e. Those bastards are trying to kill the environment by rolling back laws!
Bitch - This is also an extreme frustration word for me. I rarely use it.
Sons-a-bitches - good enough for our president! I guess I could use it but then I'd feel lazy.
cock-sucker - well we've all met that one person who deserves this but I rarely use it.
cunt - I guard this word for those who have earned it. Not in anger either. Sort of like bitch I believe it should be a term of endearment. There is NOTHING wrong with being a woman and I agree that we need to take back ownership of this word. If you are truly "being a cunt," I prefer to spell it with a "Q" simply because some women make me embarrassed to be a woman.
I'm sure I'm missing some! Help me out you liberal fucktards.

Are liberals more vulgar? My mother, a (non-unionized) teacher used to say it was the sign of a poor vocabulary. Or is it just being lazy? It's so sad that you have to come onto the board and bait people for, what, attention? Because that's exactly what you're doing. You're being a blatant troll. Did you not get enough attention when you were a kid? I'm not a troll and definitely not a blatant troll. I've been here a long time and on the old board. I'm just not popular. I'm sorry if it offends you that I found my voice and posted. It seems that profanities show up around the 3rd post of any thread and "Trump" before we get off the 1st page. These are things that can be measured.

They've done a study, people who curse can endure more pain than those who substitute curse words. I heard about it on The Poundstone Institute Podcast. It was funny and fascinating at the same time. SaveThat must be why I curse doing crossfit Sounds legit.

I find it vulgar that people get more upset over a well-placed "swear word" every now and then, than they get upset over people living in pain and misery while others live lives of lavish, profligate consumption. But, hey, that's me. I'm not upset. Just pointing out something I noticed. Of course I'm more concerned with human suffering. That was quite a leap. But, hey, swear words aren't well-placed on this board. They are common. I understand using a word here or there for emphasis, but that's not the case here.

I've merely pointed out the heavy use of profanities by certain peas. I don't give two shits who thinks me, AN ADULT, is vulgar or uneducated ON THIS BOARD. I fail to see how using curse words or talking about sex has anything to do with my education or intelligence. If I want to type a curse word, ffs, I will. There are no children here. This is not a board for prudes. Good for you if you think you are better because you don't swear or talk about sexual things. I personally think if you can't discuss these things, it is you with a problem, not me. Here's a hint, if you don't like reading these words then don't read the political threads. Easy fucking peasy. You know there will be swearing there obviously. Nobody is forcing you to be here. Nobody is holding a gun to your head. Your post is nothing more than a (lame) attempt to stir up the shit. Nice try.

Exactly. The more conservative leaning folks are being quiet while the others are cursing/name calling. Is that helpful here or anywhere? Check my post history. I lean socially liberal, fiscally conservative. I'm a woman without a party, so maybe I don't fit your definition of conservative. I never said the f word until I was married. I didn't know or understand the meaning of the word cunt until I had two children. I was sheltered. I like to think I'm making up for the youthful indiscretions I never committed. I wish everyone...no matter their economic status...could speak (& post) with grace and courtesy. You have less than 400 posts. Start participating on threads, discuss the topic, and show us how it's done. LOL, see now I was thinking this whole thread was designed purely to boost post count!

He's vulgar (and funny, thoughtful and considerate). He has no post secondary education and works in a unionized factory. He is the biggest conservative supporter you will ever find. DRIVES ME NUTS. But I love him anyway due his funny, thoughtful and considerate ways. Me? my heart bleeds for humanity. Does that make me a liberal? not necessarily in Canada.

As a French teacher, one thing that every single class asks, every year, without fail is - 'can you teach us the bad words?'
The short answer is yes, of course I can. I can curse in multiple languages, and sometimes I do. It all depends on the situation. Sometimes it merits it, sometimes it doesn't.
The long answer is no, I won't teach you the bad words. Because with only one or two years of French, you aren't ready to use them properly. For example, let's look at "fuck." There are multiple ways of saying that in French, depending upon how you want someone to do it. In general? Use foutre. Up the butt? Enculer is your choice. Talking about the specific act of copulation? Baiser is better. Need to be romantic? Faire l'amour is the obvious choice.
So now that you've chosen the word, do you know how to conjugate it correctly? Especially in the heat of the moment, you don't want to put the wrong ending on it. Enculer and baiser are simple -er verbs, no big deal. But foutre is irregular, so you'd better spend some time studying that. Faire is very common, but also irregular. Maybe spend some time on conjuguemos.com before you go into battle with these words.
And have you considered the situation? Sometimes the word is stronger or weaker than the English equivalent, so you should ponder for at least 30 seconds whether or not the situation is an appropriate one for any of these words.
Now that you've decided to use the word, have you determined what the next step will be? The person you're talking to is probably going to respond in some way. Is your comprehension up to par, or are you just going to stare at them when they answer back? And do you have a plan for a response, or are you just going to keep repeating "va te faire foutre!" until they go away? You don't want to look like the stupid foreigner who got a dirty phrase book or used google translate but doesn't actually speak the language.
I would recommend that "putain" is the best starter swear word for French students. It can be used in many different ways, but just a simple "PUTAIN!" is often good in situations that call for some sort of remark. No conjugations, just one word. It's probably not something you want to say in front of little old ladies you don't know, but then again...I've heard plenty of little old ladies use it themselves.
When my husband graduated from high school, he didn't have a great command of English as he had only moved here at age 14. He joined the US Army and learned many shiny, new words from his fellow soldiers. He is now completely fluent in English, in particular the bad words. It's kind of weird, because it turns out that quite a few of those army buddies are fairly conservative and most definitely followers of a certain fellow named Donald Trump. So while liberals may enjoy using vulgarity, Trump supporters appear to be the actual masters at teaching others to use it. The curriculum completely covered the 7 words you can't say on TV, but sadly he was out of the army before he could get to the advanced curriculum of "grab 'em by the pussy."
For a while he was friends with these guys on Facebook (he's been out for over 20 years) but when they started saying hurtful things about immigrants, he ended those friendships. It turns out that while they superficially understood that he wasn't an American citizen while serving in the US Army, they didn't quite understand that when they did a blanket bashing of immigrants, he included himself in that group. A couple of them have since asked why he left the FB group and he had to explain that as an immigrant and a naturalized citizen, he no longer felt welcome in a group where immigrants were repeatedly bashed for not speaking English, having weird customs/food, and 'taking our jobs.'

- You are trolling. When you post something that is intended to be inflammatory and baiting, you are trolling. I recognize your profile picture. I'm not the most active, but I've been around a long time. You are baiting liberals and you know it.
If you were truly interested in starting a conversation, you know darn well you could have worded your question differently. You weren't asking about the differences between liberals and conservatives and their usage of language. You were making a statement that liberals are more vulgar. I can see right through your feigned innocence.

If you truly cared about discourse and removing "vulgar" language from these kinds of political discussions, you'd address it via private message and in a polite and respectful manner. Instead, you decided to start a vague handslappy thread insinuating that people who swear have limited vocabulary and are intellectually inferior to... you, I suppose? For what purpose? Your own entertainment? Because you felt like stirring the shitpot? K.

I can’t in Mandarin unfortunately. I never had good Chinese friends who would teach me. How are yours in Arabic? Mine are pretty outstanding! I just learned a new French one yesterday! Apart from jummah greetings I suck at Arabic and no one is going to teach me. All the sisters I know are holy.

Oh goodness! You are so correct!
I am often dismayed by the amoral language on this board. I come here to find women who think and speak just like me. I am uncomfortable with those who do not reflect my culture and values. I find I must chastise them and make sweeping generalizations on occasion to shame them into submission or to just express my moral superiority. That's much more satisfying and effective than working to understand differences.
When bfing my 27 month old, he often will say, "Mother, I can tell your vital nourishment has been tainted by those horrendous peas once again." When my littles can sense I have the aura of vulgarity surrounding me, it's time go mamma bear on the uncouth liberal peas. They will certainly acquiesce and submit to my kind words and genteel nature.
On another note, My DH says, "Mother, thank you for being such a wonderful kind protector of the santicity of language and taste in not only our blessed home but also on social media and unmoderated message boards."
