I am speaking of the plan Amazon has announced. Person gives Amazon a code that is good for 1 visit to enter the home and leave the package inside.

Based on what I know now, unlikely, but never say never.

Heavens no. I'm sure they're going to hire contractors or temp labor to do that job, not Amazon employees, and if they're anything like Comcast contractors, um, no. Not that there's anything wrong with contractors or temps, but they won't be screened like employees would be. If anyone is going to case my house, I'd prefer it be the plumber or electricians. Also, I feel confident that they'd let my cat out. ETA okay I read they don't recommend service for people with pets, and they said this: "Amazon says its drivers are fully vetted with a complete background check." Of course, just like Echo/Alexa/whatever would never listen to your conversations and collect unauthorized data on you.

No, and not because I'm totally skeeved out about a stranger entering my home, but unless they bring my alarm dog a steak, it would be a total disaster.

No, I don't have a need for this since we live in a building and packages are not left sitting outside. I suppose one of my neighbors could take something but it's unlikely. I'm not sure what I would do if I were in a position where packages were being stolen off my porch.

I can see times when it would come in handy (an expensive purchase, for instance, or during a big rain storm), but so far, porch theft hasn't made it to my neighborhood, especially way back in the cul-de-sac where I live.
My problem is the animals, moreso than allowing strangers inside. They are typically inside during the day, and Bella would not react well to a stranger entering her turf. She always needs a little babying when new people come in the house.
I could see a delivery hutch of some kind being built outside that would take a code, if theft were a big issue.

No, I work from home so I don't have issues with deliveries.
But, I am also in the never say never camp.

I don't want a camera in my home that Amazon has the ability to remotely turn on. I'm paranoid enough about my phone.

I don't think I'm the target market for this -I'm a SAHM who is almost always home to accept deliveries

I work from home so I’m almost always here when packages are delivered, and on the rare occasions when I’m not our trusted neighbor has the code to our garage and will put our stuff inside for us. I don’t want people I don’t know coming into my home when no one is here.

No. I have all of my amazon packages delivered to work where there’s always someone around to accept the package and bring it inside.

I might as long as I could turn it on/off at will (like unplug, etc.)

No. But I have considered installing a large box /tiny shed for delivered packages, so I think a similar thing could work with this model, depending on how it is implemented (one time code to unlock /relock the box).

I mean... I said never say never and if circumstances were different, today might be a day I would use it lol I work from home so am almost always here for deliveries, but today I foolishly scheduled a facial without thinking about it and it’s iPhone X delivery day. So yeah, I’d probably do it today to avoid missing delivery. (If, of course, my phone was coming from Amazon and not FedEx )

We have an alarm so no for that reason. I also don't need my Amazon boxes left in my house, we have a large porch and I'm usually home when they are delivered anyway...

Obviously the service isn't available in New Zealand, but if it was I wouldn't be interested. I wouldn't be comfortable with strangers entering the house when I'm not there.
Parcel delivery isn't an issue for me - I have everything sent to work where there's always someone to take delivery.

I would not be comfortable at all with that, I voted never. I also have a neighbor who is usually home and lets me have all of my packages delivered there.

I would never use this. If I'm not home I can alert my neighbor to get my package if I'm not home. I'm home most of the time though.

Porch pirates are a big deal in my neighborhood. I live in a condo building, so no. If I had a house I'd use the Amazon boxes (there are a bunch in my neighborhood) rather than in home delivery.

It woukd be way too much trouble to clean up the blood. I pity the fool that tries to walk in my house when no one is home, and even more if we are home. My puppies are protective of their home.

In the middle of nowhere all my amazon boxes come USPS. It is actually faster then FedEx or Ups. So I am sure there will not be an option for this anywhere around here.

We don't have any local Amazon lockers, Prime Fresh and Now and all their cool new stuff is never available at my address so this isn't really something I will have to decide on. But in theory, no. I don't care how good their vetting is I wouldn't want a stranger alone in my house. They could let the cat out at minimum. At worst they install cameras and become a stalker a la Criminal Minds. What happens if they claim they got injured in the house? I wouldn't want to deal with that insurance/lawsuit nightmare.

No way, I think this is creepy. Why would I want someone I do not know to come inside my home when no one is here? Or maybe we are here, and asleep, or in the shower, and a person comes in the home? I would be calling the police if I saw someone I did not know in my home. Also, we have cats, and I would not trust this person not to let the cats get outside. They are indoor cats. The whole premise is scary to me.

I doubt it... we have never had a problem with packages missing.. knock on wood. I guess I might if it was a really high dollar amount and I wasn't going to be home.. that would probably be the only way.
