Hope this hasn't been posted yet. This one really surprises me. They all just make me so sad though. Charlie Rose suspended

You and me both, really surprised. I'm old enough and have seen and experienced enough of this stuff that I shouldn't be though. ETA: According to reports that I heard he exposed himself. To me that is an entire other category of abuse from patting an ass. Unbelievable that these guys think wagging their weenie is attractive.

I'm sad about it. Eight women! That's a real pattern of behavior!

I will be interested if Nora and Gayle mention it tomorrow. They both seem to have a lot of respect for him. I don't know why but this one really really shocks me.

When I saw the headline I had a moment of thinking he was setup, I'm that big of a fan- don't hate me. But reading the article and his statement left little doubt, it's true.
creep.

TBH, this is the least surprising one for me. I watch CBS Morning show and have always enjoyed Charlie Rose as an interviewer, but see him as fitting in perfectly in the Mad Men world. Disappointing for sure, but not surprising.

I don’t watch his show(s) but I an thoroughly unsurprised, based on seeing clips of him from his CBS morning show on John Oliver.
Almost makes me wonder if Oliver knew about the rumors.

And it appears he went much, much further than just exposing himself. I just mean that to whip out your penis and show it to a woman is way beyond lowering your hand to touch someone’s butt while taking picture or making a suggestive remark. All are unacceptable behaviors but showing your genitals is really sick. I hadn't heard much more about Rose other than he exposed himself and that alone is disturbing. It is worse? Uck! So many stories are coming out now everything from making a pass at a woman to actual rape. Making a pass is mostly disgusting but easily handled. Whipping your junk out is demented. I will have to go read more as I just caught the short version of the Rose story.

He just didn’t seem like the type of guy to act like this. I wonder if the behavior is recent. Maybe he has dementia.

Noooooooo! I really liked Charlie Rose. OMG, what is wrong with these men? Success, power, admiration, money isn't enough? You need to make people look at your dick to really feel good about yourself? Unbelievable.
If Anderson Cooper shows up on some accusation list, all of my faith in humanity (at least the male portion of it) is hopelessly lost.

Wow, I just read the entire story. Seems the only thing he didn't do was ejaculate on the women, but it is early in the story. What a sicko. He needs to go down in flames.

“I thought they liked me so I flashed my dick. That’s a totally normal first move, right?” Translation: "Look, I am not a pea on NSBR so I didn't know that NO means NO and that No doesn't mean I can do whatever I want. Since I didn't insert my Penis, I figured I can do whatever the heck I want and that no one would say anything because that's what all the men in power and position do...amiright?"

The whole thing is just sad.... He has been in our living rooms for years. The networks better get their employees educated, male and female. There is no way on earth that he didn't know it was wrong.

I don't have much respect for his apology, either...
"I have learned a great deal from these events (from getting caught with my pants down, figuratively- AND literally- speaking) and I hope others will too (man, I hope I'm not the last one that gets outed). All of us, including me, are coming to a newer and deeper recognition of the pain caused by conduct in the past (he was very careful to say IN THE PAST, here-- meaning, I don't do this stuff any MORE, heavens no!), and have come to a profound new respect for women and their lives (new, meaning I guess that he had very little respect for women before?? Before getting outed, that is, not before DOING any of it...)
WHY, WHY, WHY, do men think they need to do stuff like this? Just because they CAN? What kind of a reason IS that?!?
I mean, really, I think Samantha Bee said it perfectly- SHE doesn't find it necessary to masturbate in front of ANY of her co-workers- why does some man think he needs to act like that? Is it really that difficult to go all day long without fondling your penis in public? Maybe it is, and I just have a really low sex drive, but honestly- unless little boys are jerking off in the bathroom between classes at school and I just had NO idea, they KNOW they can go all day long without ejaculating or having some random woman look at their dick- what happens to them (mentally) when they grow up to change that? Really, am I just missing out on the exhibitionism-at-work stuff, or what? I knew I was a little bit dull, but are all of you doing fun stuff like walking around naked in front of your co-workers, and I'm just duller than I thought I was?

He just didn’t seem like the type of guy to act like this. I wonder if the behavior is recent. Maybe he has dementia. I just read an article that said he has always been a "ladies' man", in the sense that he has always had a very active dating life and that it was common knowledge that he was a perve. What's even more disappointing to me is that people- both men and women- knew he behaved like this and did nothing to try and stop it.

Same with Weinstein, the other producer, Moore, Trump et al ............... People KNEW! I am not sure people should yell it from the roof tops outing the victims, but they should try to speak to the victims. They can report the offender without outing the victim. There has to be a way. Someone has to open the door first. This has to stop!

His executive producer (I think I have the job title right) did nothing about the complaints and has now apologized. More like sorry I got caught not protecting employees.

I know that HR is mostly there at my job to protect the company, but at least we HAVE an HR department- is THAT what's missing in the industries where this stuff seems to run rampant? Or is it because it (seems to be) mostly audition-type scenarios (although not in Congress...) where there isn't any recourse, since you just won't get hired if you don't go along? What about in Congress? if a certain Congressperson gets a little too handsy in the elevator, do the staffers have an HR department they can tell??

What about in Congress? if a certain Congressperson gets a little too handsy in the elevator, do the staffers have an HR department they can tell?? “The current process includes the signing of non-disclosure agreements by the parties involved. Congresswoman Jackie Speier has introduced legislation that will provide much-needed transparency on these agreements and make other critical reforms,” Pelosi said in the statement. “I strongly support her efforts.” Under the current process run by the Office of Compliance, victims must undergo months of counseling and mediation with the employing office before filing a complaint. They can either file a complaint in court or seek an administrative hearing that can lead to a monetary settlement. The bill authored by Speier and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) would make the counseling and mediation optional. Their bill would also require lawmakers accused of harassment to pay back the taxpayers. The Office of Compliance would further have to publish the names of the offices involved in cases with settlements on its website. Info toward the end of the a short article............ thehill.com/homenews/house/361328-ryan-calls-sexual-harassment-allegations-against-rep-conyers-extremelyCongress has a mess......... I may have some of the details wrong here, maybe all wrong... There is place within the complex they go to, then they are counseled, I think for SIX months and then something else.... (so glad I remember what I read last week, HA!) Next to nothing is done for the victims. I guess if it is bad enough they get a 'settlement' . Someone has gotten pieces of that 15 Million dollars!See how helpful I am.......... NOT!

It was the lead story. Both Nora and Gayle expressed how this situation is upsetting to them. They both stand by the women who have spoken out, and hope women continue to expose sexual harassment. Gayle was especially taken aback by the whole thing.
