I've read approximately 160 books this year. I read 59 books by the middle of June and then I fell and got a compression fracture in my back at the end of June. The only thing that kept my mind off my pain was to read murder mysteries. I was reading a book a day for awhile. Now I'm mostly recovered and am reading my normal 2 or 3 books per week.

89. I’m going to fall a bit short of my 100 goal. I read 99 last year.

I’m at 89. Some of the fiction books go pretty fast, but some of the biography and history take a lot more time. I don’t sweat on the number. Reading has been the one constant for me from childhood on, and fortunately has not failed to provide me with solace, edification, entertainment, and even pain relief for over 50 years.
I do wish there were a way to know to total number of books I’ve read. I do remember Black Beauty and Heidi were my very first 😀 📚

I don’t keep track but my guess would be around 25ish.

This year I just haven’t been reading much. I’ve only read 24 books.

I think I am at about 30. I didn't read much in the first half of the year, but got through about 15 books in the month I was in recovery from knee surgery and have kept up the pace since then. A few on my list were fairly hardcore non-fiction, which took me a while to get through.

I set a standard goal of 52: a book a week. This year I'm at 62 and should get two more done by the end of December. I SO look forward to a future where I don't work 50+ hours a week and I have more time to read. My brain is just worn out in the evenings.

I have never kept a tally but this year because I get so many from my list on Pinterest I have and am very surprised that the count is to date 100. I have three on my bedside table so I think by new year I will have read 105.
I am quite impressed with myself and will continue to keep a count just so I know how many I have read.
How do we find the time to read so much?

I didn’t keep a list this year, but it’s usually around 40.
It doesn’t sound like much, but I tend to read long books. I love that bittersweet feeling when you finally finish a long book that you really enjoyed.

I feel like the biggest slacker ever. I love to read. But this year I’ve read 10. I have been so crazy busy with the soap business and wholesale orders that when I get time to read I’m so tired I fall asleep.

I track my books through Goodreads also. 76 so far this year. Depending on what we do over the holidays I'd expect to end up around 80-85.
A few years ago, I averaged 100+/yr. But the kids were not driving, and I had a lot of "waiting" time that let me read in a lot of 10 minute chunks. Now I am working more and picking up less, so my reading is less.
The year my parents died I only read 43 (see earlier discussion of grief-induced illiteracy), so I am just happy to be reading again.
I decided this year that life is too short to waste on books I don't enjoy. I've been going through the shelves - don't like it, donate. Had it for years and still haven't read it - donate. If I ever get a burning desire to read it later, I'll go to the library.

I'm at 58 with 3 in progress right now. My goal was 52.
I track everything on GoodReads. They'll tally up the # of pages read and send an custom infographic at the end of the year with all the book covers, the longest book, the shortest book, the highest rated etc.

I'm guessing about 35-ish? I also LOVE to read, and I love that my mind doesn't wander while reading like it does during TV shows & movies.

I’m not asking this with any snark, but why do you ladies or people in general keep track of the number of books you read each year? I know I read around 2 books a week, give or take what my schedule is like. But I’ve never kept track of the actual number.

I’ve only set Goodreads goals for 2 years now and right on the home page it updates the numbers of book read toward that goal. I like having it in one place and looking back on my ratings I’ve given books over the years.

I like to keep track to keep myself from slacking. I'm at around 40. Short of my goal of 52.

So far only 76 which is less than my normal. Some years I read more than others and this year there have been months where I haven't read a single book.
I keep track on Goodreads so I can remember if I have read a book or not. Before I started keeping track I would start a book and realize I had already read it. Nothing wrong with rereading I do that sometimes but its annoying if unintentional. I also was curious how many books I was reading a year.

I started using Goodreads to avoid re-reading, as others mentioned. Goodreads also has a good algorithm for making recommendations based on what you have already read. It pops up with an annual reading challenge every year and tracks it for you. Otherwise I wouldn't have any idea.

It comes in handy, too, when I'm looking at a book and wonder if I've read it. My list has saved me from picking up a repeat several times. I'm not really concerned with how many I read, except that my total has fallen off drastically the past two years and that is something I want to rectify. But I don't set specific goals for myself.

I set a goal of 52 every year too, but this year I'm only at 48. I don't think I'll be able to make my goal by years end unfortunately I keep track on Goodreads so I can remember if I have read a book or not. Before I started keeping track I would start a book and realize I had already read it. Nothing wrong with rereading I do that sometimes but its annoying if unintentional. I also was curious how many books I was reading a year. This is me too. I tend to forget the titles of books I've read, and when I go to purchase new books I sometimes forget if I've read it already. Plus I just like to know my yearly stats. I also can rate the books as I read them, so I can remember which ones I really liked when people ask me for recommendations

I WISH I had the sense to keep track of the books I read when I was young, especially since these days I feel like I'm constantly saying oh yeah I read that with no recollection of when!! I also get so annoyed with myself when I see a .99 ebook deal, snap it up only to realize that I already read it. With a list I can double check.

21 There should be a reading challenge like the fitbit ones. I know about the Goodreads ones but they're individual.

PolarGreen12 I started keeping track in my bullet journal a couple of years ago for fun. I wish I had a list of every book I have read. I think it would be interesting to look back on that list.

When you go to the page that says "Books Read," there's a statistics section that tallies it all for you. I keep track for a few reasons: I read so much, and I have made the mistake of grabbing books I have already read! I am a bit of a a nerd, so I just like knowing what I read. I like finding new reads based on the recommendations they give. I like seeing what my friends read. And probably more reasons that I am forgetting. Lisa
